Happy Valentine's Day everyone, and what could be a sweeter gift for my "Valentine" viewers than a trip to Strawberryland. In the 1980s, American Greetings commissioned Murakami-Wolf-Swenson and Nelvana Limited to produce six animated specials based on one of their most famous characters, Strawberry Shortcake. The specials have been aired on syndicated television and released on VHS, but one idea that never did cross their minds was to possibly combine the six specials in the form of a feature-length movie, to rival the film adaptations of similar franchises such as My Little Pony and Care Bears. As such, I now present my personal interpretation of what such a film re-versioning might have looked like had it been made. With that enjoy the "movie", and leave your thoughts in the comments regarding the following three opinion questions:
1. Do you think a film version would have been released as is, or would there have been more edits for a shorter run time?
2. If this had been made for real, would it have gone direct-to-video, or do you think AG would have taken the gamble on a theatrical release?
3. If this re-versioning had been produced and released, how many do you think would have mistaken it for being a new production?
