It's such a clever film. Notice how everyone on the streets is walking the opposite direction? Really helps subtly build the sense of "Them vs Everyone Else".
Also, near the end of the clip, they all turn to watch them whenever they pass by. You'll notice that a lot throughout the movie, the blanks staring them down in the background
This scene really reminds me of that scene from Shaun of the Dead where they had to pretend they’re zombies to get to the Winchester. And I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
Oh that is very much intentional. Cause all three movies has the same joke about going over the fence for a short cut and failing said short cut almost imediately after and all three have little easter eggs that loosely connects them to eachother despite the moves having no chronological canon to eachother.

That's why Gary didn't pack any luggage. He was planning to kill himself after the Golden Mile was completed and this was his last attempt to relive what he thought was the best time of his life.
Man, the way he says "Exactly! We're just five friends on a night out having a good time," is painful to listen to. You just have this feeling that he's doing everything he possibly can to make it feel like that night he holds so dearly in his memory so he can die happy once it's over. Damn, it hurts, because it's not unlike suicidal people to want to live one day freely with no consequences to end their lives on a good note, convincing themselves that they are happy.
They couldn't have picked a better song for this scene as the title and lyrics are very appropriate and the music has a slightly tense mood to match the mood of the film during this scene.
They are ALL walking in tempo to the song. I don't just mean the five boys, EVERYONE ON THE STREET is walking in sync! Just to reinforce this idea that the town is full of robots and they're desperately trying to blend in. My god, this film just keeps on giving!
The lyrics of the song surprisingly connect with the story and what they are doing. “ show me the way to the next whiskey bar, don’t ask why” that’s exactly what they are doing!!!
One thing I never noticed in this scene is when they drink the beers Ollie and Pete don't actually say anything which is foreshadowing for when they get turned into blanks

The blanks are basically the people they are supposed to replace in the inside only though. This is why everyone's seems normal until things screwed up.

I love how Edgar Wright made it seem so awkward and suspicious as soon as Gary and the rest found out they were blanks, with very small camera movements, how the people walked, and how they had shown their expressions, paralleled to how it was before they found out
I mean my god, I just love how the actors movements are sync with the music, much like how the editing itself is in sync with music and sounds. Edgar Wright films are just so damn sharp, and that editing style alone just keeps you glued to the screen.
Did anyone else notice how when Andy says "Drink up, Lets booboo", Gary pretty much only had a mere dribble left in his glass, he has already drunken his ahead of the others.

edgar wright has said that the evil dead trilogy are some of his favorite movies, and he pays tribute to them in basically every movie he makes. shooting scenes in reverse was a pretty common thing in those movies, so maybe it's another tribute?
Honestly never fail to notice something new when rewatching any of these movies. I like how someone opens a squeaky door at 0:05 to sync up with all the heads turning to make it seem more robotic

I liked this movie a lot because the other two movies in the trilogy are ridiculous action-capers but this one makes you think it’s going to be a more serious, mid life crisis, time-to-grow-up sort of film, but halfway through it just throws that back in your face and says ‘fuck that, genocidal robots coming your way!’
i love how some of our heroes are walking around with the blue blood still on them like gary still has alot of it on his hands which rubs off on the money he gives the bartender and andy has just a tiny bit on his cheek, also this film did an incredible job foreshadowing the whole movie with its intro at the AA meeting
0:05 the marmalade sandwich are not turning their heads around because they are still humans but then at the 8th pub the mermaid they are young again. (Blanks)
This is my favorite movie of all time. I love the entire Cornetto trilogy but this movie was gold. I was sold even before the Blank shit started, after that I was in love.
0:13 I watched as that exact scene was being filmed. I was ironically in the pub opposite, which was also used for this movie. I walk up that road every day to get to work.
