This is one of the most impressive hunts I've ever seen! Pokewalker shinies were a dream of mine growing up and seeing this be possible through lock removal is amazing! Congrats on the Wailmer! I hope it likes long walks on the beach like you do.
Thanks! Yeah, when I was younger I wondered if they were possible and always thought of how cool it would be to find a shiny from it. So as soon as the lock removal came out I knew I had to try it, no matter how arduous!
This is honestly so cool, I used to use the walker a lot as a kid and all the Pokémon were so cool. Congrats on being the first person to find a shiny on the walker, again it's super cool 🤩🤩

@@shinycollector Debate is probably the wrong word. I meant that I've never seen any concrete answers on shiny hunting with a Pokewalker before this video. It was usually "yeah I guess, but I dunno" responses.

Now this is dedication! Towards the beginning of the year I decided to do a Pokewalker living dex, aka catch all the Pokemon available on the Pokewalker (ignoring duplicates). I'm on the second to last area now, can't do the special areas unfortunately. It's gonna be weird not having it in my pocket after I'm done!

@@shinycollector Haha, I probably could have been done by now but I'm just doing it casually so I don't always remember to try for catches before the step count resets. I would! But alas, I don't like to hack games. Looking forward to seeing that second walker shiny!

This sounds terrible but I got my steps by attaching my walker to my mini metal caged fan that was next to my bed. I attached it there once before going to sleep. Next morning it maxed the steps. The little vibrations I guess as the fan moved made it think it was walking.
I forgot I was already subbed! I saw your tweet and was pretty interested in seeing the process, I only did a tiny amount of PokéWalker stuff way back, it's amazing they put all that thought into a little device that only worked with a single pair of games
Yeah, there was honestly so many features I learned about during this hunt, that I had no idea about when they came out! Gotta love when that care and attention to detail shows!
Jesus 6 pokewalkers. Genuinely jealous because mine is a bit beat up because I didn't take care of it properly, and going to replace it now is so expensive.
I’m actually up to 8 now lol But yeah they can be a bit pricey and almost all of mine have some scuffs here and there too. It just means they’re loved! But if you do want a fresher one, I found that buying them from Japan almost always guarantees good condition and they’re much cheaper! About $30-40 compared to the $60-80 here. I didn't get a shiny from the pokewalker, but I remember when I transferred a Skitty with cute charm from the hoenn field rout and started finding a bunch of shinnies after that. About two weeks later that copy of soul silver was stolen

I would say that as a community, you just unlocking the shiny possibility doesn’t make that beautiful whale any less valuable! If anything it’s one of the rarest shiny. Shiny lock is one of the (many) dumb things GF has done to just give them away for events. Happy for you and hope you have a good one!
I legit wanted to get a pokewalker, but according to research you could not get shinies, but now that's changed, I am gonna try extra hard to find one!
