Does thickness matter in your bumper plates? Weight It Out (Code NoFate247): www.weightitout.us/?ref=NoFate247 Correction: These are not made in USA, I misspoke on one small section of the video and don't want to mislead anyone.
@shiwakuseven5859
@shiwakuseven5859 7 месяцев назад
No. Actually, I think it looks "cooler" the thicker that bumper plates are. However, Olympic plates are better if they are thinner if you are trying to put more weight plates on belt squat attachments or you are trying to put as many weight plates as possible on an Olympic bar, which most home gym lifters aren't going to do.

For those homegyms with limited space the skinny plates are amazing. Going with a shorty bar and short weight horns make moving around the rack so much more enjoyable.

You are the 1st to review these bumpers that I've seen. It is good that a smaller channel is getting a 1st time look and review of certain pieces of equipment instead of we all seeing a new piece of equipment being reviewed by Coop 1st and then we hear from all the other channels about the same piece but by then we already know about it so your losing views. Most people are not watching multople reviews on a piece unless they are very interested in that piece. Y'all should go after a piece and review it first, it will raise the exposure of you and get your subs and views up, just like you did here. Good Going

Not sure I see the point in thin bumper plates? The whole point is to spread out the weight to protect your floors. Isn’t this just basically like dropping iron?
@NoFate247
@NoFate247 7 месяцев назад
They are "softer" than iron and you can drop them on concrete but they offer more protection to your floor than iron and aren't as loud as iron. Plus in most cases thinner. I don't think there's a one size fits all for plates. Depends on your use case. Do you have horse stall mats on your home gym flooring?

Great review, agree they hit a home run with these. I'm not so sure why everybody loves bumpers so much maybe more are into crossfit lifts than I can imagine. I have Rogue USA Olympic which are second thinnest I believe plates and wish I had gone Weight it Out since so much easier to handle. Especially now that I have Titan Squat Max MD the handles would be so nice its a total pain getting 45s off so much so I bought more 25s and only use those 10s,5s etc.
@NoFate247
@NoFate247 7 месяцев назад
I use mine to keep the noise down when the kids are sleeping in the AM (AND WIFE). Don't want to wake the dragon. I think they are a bit easier on the floor overall as well, which is something I tend to worry about even though I'm not doing any massive drops. How hard is it to load/unload the titan squat max with the rogue plates?
@chrisdonnell2575
@chrisdonnell2575 7 месяцев назад
That makes sense I lift around 11:30-12 noon. Congrats for hitting it hard right when you wake up! That is a good reason to have bumpers. I think the squat max weight loading pin is about 14 inches and with the Rogue thin USA's very hard to grab and lift straight up. I don't do shoulders on leg day probably should so they're already a bit sore. I put down 1lb change plates to give me ability to grab them. Now with 25s a lot easier and put the extra top plate on which allows narrower stance. Much better for calf raises too. Curious if you plan to review the Voltra I that is one of the coolest gym pieces I've ever seen up to 200lbs and you can have higher eccentric weights. What's really cool for people like me who have rack mounted leg curl/extension is you can pull cable out to any length before resistance so could use that for weight for leg curls/extensions. @@NoFate247

No way these don’t crack concrete under mats and damage barbells over time. The whole point of bumpers is to disperse shock from bar and floor. I don’t think these do that. I’m assuming these are steel plates with a thin rubber coating and they’re calling them bumper plates because they’re durable, but they don’t perform the same function.
@NoFate247
@NoFate247 7 месяцев назад
I didn't cut them open so I don't know but I belive these will be fine for your concrete if you are using horsestall mats
@rjm656
@rjm656 7 месяцев назад
@@NoFate247 Yeah would love to see how that works. It doesn't make sense to me that a plate that thin, that has almost no bounce, wouldn't affect floors the same way a steel plate would. Like, you have to have some more surface area on the plate hitting the floor just to avoid concentrating force at one small point. And then you need bounce to transfer some energy back to the plate instead of all into the floor and the bar. Seems like one of those "too good to be true" situations that doesn't line up with physics, and I'm assuming this company is trusting a chinese manufacturer to develop these and tell them how they perform.

@djbakasan
@djbakasan 7 месяцев назад
The name and the lettering on the plates is just a bit goofy. Fantastic product, but even if they kept the naming, the lettering (including the upside down counterparts) looks slapped on. The pics of their iron plates look far more traditional and have the lettering on a circular path. If they’d simply mirrored that on the bumpers, it’d improve the aesthetics a fair bit. End of day, weight is weight, and these look and sound great. Maybe the design isn’t final since they’re not actually on the market yet.

The problem that I see with the weight plates is that they need grip holes because weight plates with grip holes are easier to carry, load, and unload on plate-loaded exercise machines, like the SquatMax MD or plate-loaded leverage gyms.

@@NoFate247 I own a lot of different kinds of weight plates, which includes Rogue deep dish Olympic plates, which I don't like, Fitness Gear, which I do like because of their grip holes, CAP plates, which are of low quality but which has grip holes, Standard barbell Olympic plates, Titan Fitness weight plates, and Gold's Gym weight plates. I literally own several thousand pounds of weight plates because I own a lot of plate-loaded exercise machines, and I don't like unloading and loading weight plates so all of my exercise machines are kept loaded in my basement and exercise gyms. My problem is that I have too much exercise equipment so I store some of my exercise equipment in other rooms of my house and even on my backyard patio. For instance, I own a 4-wheel exercise sled that I put in a tent shed, which is on my patio. I also own Zoomster bumper plates, which I like, Everyday Essential bumper plates, which are o.k. but nothing special, and Athletic Works bumper plates, which are o.k. but budget bumper plates that I bought from Walmart. I also own a lot of standard weight plates with 1 inch holes, but frankly my favorite weight plates are chrome-plated standard weight plates, because they are shiny and look good even though I use them on spin-lock dumbbell handles despite the fact I already own rubber-coated hex dumbbells from 5 pounds to 100 pounds in 5 pound increments. I just like watching myself in the mirror when I lift them because they look good, even though I own a lot of other different kinds of standard weight plates, which were a lot cheaper than my chrome-plated weight plates.

All plates will last a lifetime, the cheap ones may lose their pretty looks but all plates last. IMO, with all the options out there why pay the price these cost. I can see an Olympic lifter wanting them but for 90% of home gym owners we dont need bumpers and I'll say it's crazy to pay $3/pound for any plate even if Elvis signed it. This company is charging too much for their plates (bumper or steel) and their steel plates are not attractive and are the hardest plates to handle that I've ever used. I'm not including you in the next part but I am so tired of paid reviews, bending the truth, and just plain lying so I'm giving an honest review on these plates right here. The Steel ones are too hard to handle and I dont like their looks, these bumpers are okay but far too expensive and they too are hard to handle although I wouldn't be afraid of cutting myself with the bumpers like I am with the steel plates. That's my honest, objective, and unbiased review. What do you all think. Are they too expensive or not? Are the easy to use or hard to handle? Give your opinion, it is needed so the companies will make the equipment we want
@NoFate247

I agree paying $3 per lb is hard to swallow whether it's weight it out or Rogue or anyone else. I love WIO plates for my needs. I have 2 sets of the 45 cast iron and the rest my plates are the steel plates. I love everything about the 45's. The handles are super comfortable and easy to handle. I like that there's no correct side, so taking on/off the bar is always super easy. The fact that they take up 1/2 the space or more of standard plates is the biggest advantage. I can still go heavy on my shorty bar and utilize 6" weight horns (3 sets of 45's fit safely). The 25's are nice and easy to handle. I wish that were they were thicker so they fit within the handles of the 45. The rest of the steel change plates are great. The edges aren't perfectly smooth, but not anything to be concerned about. The thinness makes these plates easy to handle. I feel like I dropped standard weights more for some reason. I honestly don't know a small business made in usa plate that can deliver on so many levels at the price point it's at. It's not for everyone, but It definitely suited my needs perfectly. When I run out of plates I'll definitely be buying another set.
