I see alot of comments that have misinformation about this knot to me seems like the negative comments are just people that never used i have had fg fail on me a few times but this knot has never as for going through the guides never an issue best for lure casting landbaseesed shark fishing or anything med to heavy tackle

Exactly bud- this knot is completely bulletproof to another degree! People should be using more of this, and losing less tackle (and fish)…

It is indeed a great knot. I don't have a PR bobbin, so I use a sinker and swing the line around like that. I give it about 40 turns one way, and then 40 turns back down on top of the original 40. So my knot is about 3 or 4cm long. Strong as an ox, and hasn't failed me.....

7-10cm is way too long imho, just make travelling through the eyes more resistant. 1” to 1-1/2” is more than enough and slides through the guides much easier.

So what is wrong with the normal fishing knot that most of us use? I already battle to put the braid or nylon through the loops. My eyesight is not too good. But thanks for sharing this information with us all

When joining braid to braid… you want the best possible knot. Especially when fighting a big fish, you want to know your knots are going nowhere.

Although this Knot is different to the FG . The premise of tight coils being made stays the same. Is the PR Knot the only knot that can be tied with a bobbin or can it be used for other knots etc ?

Premise is maybe the same, but about twice as strong we would say (no jokes)… I’m actually not sure on other knots- I must look into it🤙🏻

Your first wrap is the most important, the wraps should be closer BUT evenly spaced not against another. Your main line half hitches should also not only be on the mainline, it should be over be leader.

Nice video, just some queries. So you not running the bobbin up and down? What braided leader are you using or recommend on a 30lb mainline? And lastly length of leader. Is its onto the spool before you cast? Thanks

So for us, we would go 30lb onto a 120lb braided leader. You go in 1 direction from left to right… your braided leader should be from the top of your rod (10cm above your top eye), and 2 or 3 wraps around your spool.

This knot is unrealistic if you standing on a reef in the middle of the water with the waves splashing over you. Its a nice "at home knot" though.

We use this knot wherever we fish… off the rocks, and in the surf. You have to have somewhere to put bait on your hook…

I tie my PR knots on the go. I do spin fishing, and often get snagged or bitten off, so have to make leaders on the go, never had an issue with the PR knot, it really is easy to do when you get the hang of it. It take me just over a minute to do mine...
