The WORST 32X Games | Definitive Guide to the Sega 32X 

I got my 32x in 1996 heavily discounted. It wouldnt be long after, maybe a year or 2 before I got my PS1. I only ever had 2 games for my 32x; Star Wars Arcade and Doom. Both of which I played a lot and really enjoyed. Man that brief period of time when Star Wars Arcade looked so impressive, it was awesome. I'm sure prices are stupid now though but I'd like to get MK2 for 32x.

Thanks a lot for the video. With games like these, it is really hard to defend the 32X reputation. But then, you play Virtua Racing, Virtua Fighter, Mortal Kombat II or NBA Jam and it makes you forget all of the bad games. The Brutal games were just like the Rise of the Robots games, or Ballz. There was advertisement everywhere, and in screenshots they didn't look all that bad. And then, you played them and in three minutes you knew you would never, ever play them again. Anyway, great work. You keep publishing quality material with every upload.

Was expecting Brutal to be on this list and was not disappointed. Great video Jenovi! I remember being severely disappointed with the 32x games that I had back in the day.... so many cash grabs without any major differences from the CD/genesis

I remember seeing screenshots for Brutal in a magazine and getting really excited. Finally got to play it a few years later, what a letdown! I've played Click and Create fighting games with better mechanics than that game. Great video mate, can always rely on you for 32x goodness!

I remember at the time wondering why didn't we get an arcade perfect port of Enduro Racer instead of Motocross Championship for the 32X. Enduro Racer is a much older game yet so much better.

Great video but you made a mistake and accidentally placed a Tom Zito masterpiece on the worst list. Surely it was meant for your best games just. For some reason people make this accidental mistake with his games often. Also, "Turbo Nutter" a, uh, rather creative name for a speed setting.

motorcross championship and knuckles chaotix were the only games I wanted on 32x i think people who dont enjoy the motorcross game take games way too seriously. they have a critical approach, rather than just having fun.

Kinda surprised that Slam City wasn't included in this one, since it seems to match all the points mentioned about Supreme Warrior! One of those games where, like you mentioned for Supreme Warrior, I feel like it's way more enjoyable to just watch a playthrough on youtube than to play it. Although Slam City does have a lot of character with that sweet rap and the trash talk dialogue. I'd still like to own it someday though, just for the "rad" mid-90s aesthetic and since it's a pretty neat conversation piece. I like that you're comparing the games on their merits, without considering pricetag. Don't know how available cheat codes are for these games, but would be neat if you'd included available cheat codes into your evaluation, since sometimes cheats can made a broken game enjoyable again (e.g. ones that are overly difficuly/cheap). Cool video, your willingness to dedicate this much time to these games to give them a fair shot is worthy of respect. Though, I kind of feel it's a little unfair to Sangokushi in some regards. I get that it's an opinion video (even if you don't explicitly say so), but I wonder if a native Japanese speaker would agree. I suppose that isn't the target audience of your videos, to be fair. No disrespect meant.

It's no wonder why a good portion of the 40 games released for the 32x was subpar. Sega co-founder David Rosen knew that the company couldn't manage home consoles properly. And when the maga drive failed in Japan, things only went downhill from there.

As being the only person I knew who grew up with the 32x I love that someone is still talking about it..good or bad! Everyone hates on it but I have fond memories playing it. Except I did like motocross when it came out. I think I look at it through nostalgia glasses though...

LMAO! You started with Supreme Warrior. I had that game, and to this day it is the worst game I ever owned. The only reason I ever had it was that it was in a dollar bin. James Rolfe has my copy now, so it's not a complete loss.

I could never get into that furry game. I always thought the speed was at normal and thought it would only get worse if I changed anything. I gave up on it really quick.

I've been a big Sega fan all my life and collect games for my Mega Drive, Mega CD and Sega Saturn, but even I admit that the 32X was a big fuck up for Sega. It's become somewhat of a collectors curiosity piece over the last few years however, and the prices that PAL region 32X units and games currently sell for on Ebay is beyond insane. To my mind the only games on the ill fated system worth bothering with are Star Wars Arcade, Virtua Racing, Knuckles Chaotix and Mortal Kombat II. Nice video man 👍

I remember Supreme Warrior on TV, on a video game TV show. At the time I thought it was very futuristic and it was the future. But I never played.

Supreme Warrior could have been a great kung fu take on Punch-Out or like an FMV version of Teleroboxer would have been nice. Same concept barrier though, filmmakers, not game designers. It is very strange to see sports games done so poorly on 32X when Sega usually did such a good job of them. :P Got an ugly loose cart of MC for less than $10, I suggest you try for that if buying heh. Sad though since MC had potential. Sangokushi IV-32X might get translated some day based on there being English ports and the relatively low modding effort to do it, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Brutal-32X is just very WTF, why not Greendog-32X or Dark-Castle 32X huh Sega, because it was so good the first time around? :P Who the hell wants SSF2T or AVP on 32X? ^_^ I guess it was a fun SCD rental bitd but it was not a good example of the genre, fighting games are very hard to make ijs. True, very pre-SF2 in feel.

Sadly, I really enjoyed motocross championship. The sound was aweful but the controls felt very responsive and I found myself returning to it over and over to properly land jumps. I also absolutely LOVED Fred Couples golf magazines 36 great holes...but I think its gonna end up on your next worst games video....nooooooo!

Looking at Brutal: Wow Street Fighter 2 with Animal characters sounds awesome. Playing Brutal: These gameplay mechanics are terrible and you have to unlock certain moves (WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!) The game feels like a chore to play as opposed to fun.

Halfway through this, I found myself wondering: I don't even have a MegaDrive/Genesis, I will probably never own a 32X, and this video is about the WORST games on that thing... Why would I watch this? And yet, I kept watching, and can't wait to start the next one. You, sir, have something magical going here.

I wonder. If the 32X, which had a million pre-orders but only 600,000 available at launch, had actually had enough consoles to cover the pre-orders, do you think that would have been a significant enough jump in ownership to allow at least one or two of the cancelled games to come out?

There was a game I really liked that came with my X-Eye. It was called Prize Fighter and it was a cinematic boxing game. I sucked at it for awhile then I changed the settings so it told you when to duck and which punches to throw. After that I beat the game easily and it was a very nice experience. I felt very much apart of the game as it was a FMV game. I should see if I can find an emulation of it

Fun fact my first 32X game is Motocross Championship. Not the best first impression, but if you stick with the game, you can get good at it.

Yeah, if someone wants to play RTK4... well, number one, why? Later RTKs are much better. But even then, the SNES version is probably best since it has a neat 'Mode 7' map to explore. Not sure why the fancy map wasn't in the SCD version, since that has hardware scaling too.

I actually really enjoyed Supreme Warrior and beat it before. I have it on 3DO and 32x and preffere sega version.

I had fun completing Supreme Warrior. I hated the fmv basketball game though... I only played World Series Baseball for a bit, I liked RBI baseball a bit better, but I am no expert on the sport. I hated Motocross at first, but it is pretty fun when you get used to it. It is ugly though and I agree about the crashing. Never played Romance of the three kingdoms. Only played Brutal on Mega cd, which was absolutely dire.

Fingers crossed for how high Tempo, Kolibri, and Shadow Squadron will place.

I'm going to watch this later. But the trifecta of garbage in the thumbnail has me super excited for this one! Hell yeah

I think I'm the only person in history who enjoyed Supreme Warrior. lol. Don't get me wrong, it's not a good game, but once I memorized the prompts, I beat it without a lot of trouble and got to enjoy the cheesy story. I never could beat Fahrenheit though. Even with the better visuals of the 32X helping out. Ever try that one?

So a Japanese exclusive title that you can't play due to your lack of understanding the language makes the game one of the worst?! That is not the game's fault and you even said that it got great reviews in Japan. This game should not be on the list.

Oh boy... I had the 32x with doom and corpse killer. Doom was ok bc i didn't have the pc to compare it to but corpse killer, my god, makes me want to kill myself lmao

Worst games on 32 x? Wouldn't that be the entire library? You know, all 5 or 10 of them? I dont know, all I know is I got a 32 x for Christmas with one robot fighting game, I think it was called Carnage or something like that, anyway I played it one time then I lost the wire that connects it to the Sega. Then I felt kinda guilty cuz I got it for Christmas, so I considered looking for the wire, but then I remembered the only game I had for it and I decided maybe it was better that the wire was lost. Fast forward 20 years later and the wire has yet to be found. To be honest I haven't actually spent a whole lot of time looking for it, maybe I should check ebay and see if theres any good games for it. I heard Doom was released on 32 x , maybe I'll order that and while Im at it maybe I'll order a new wire too.... Actually now that I think about it, I technically still have the wire..... Somewhere. So I'm not going to waste money on a mew one whem I could just find the lost one, and actually I probably womt buy Doom either, I mean if I really want the Doom 32 x experience I can just play it im dosbox and slow down the frame rate to about 5 frames a second. That kinda reminds me of Aladin for Gameboy, such an impressive game for the hardware, but unfortunately the framerate makes it unplayable. If only there was a way to play it, I dont know... Like on a computer or something, so that way yoy could increase the framerate.... And even save amywhere. That would be amazing! But I'm just dreaming, of course such technology will never exist. Anyway about that wire, I have decided that..... I think I'm just not going to look for it. Lets put it this was, if I happen to come across it then ok. Maybe I'll get to play Knuckles Chaotics. But if I dont ever come across the wire and I never get to play Knuckles Chaotics...... Well then I guess thats ok to. PS: please excuse amy misspelled words, The fact of the matter is that I have quite a reasonable explanation . You see, Im typing this on my phome and for some reason, the letter boundaries are not quite lined up correctly with the touch screen, so for example if I want to press "g" more often than not whem I go to press h it will imstead press h. See it did it right there! It always seems to press the neighbouring letter and there's nothing I can do to fix it, trust me I tried but this doamt seem to be a software issue but rather a hardware issue. I guess the sxreen was just misaligned right from the factory. UPDATE: ok, I found the wire. But now I have 2 more problems: First problem is as follows - I lost the power adapter! And no it isn't the one for the Sega, the 32 x had its own power supply, because it was just thay powerful that it needed more power to power it. I believe the technical term for all that power is called blast processing ©™. Anyway, my second problem is, no I didnt lost that stupid piece of plastic that goes between the Sega and the 32x, It's actually that I couldn't find Knuckles Chaotics on Ebay! Blast it all to hell! I guess its such and amazing game, that no one is willing to sell there copy of Knuckles Chaotics! Blasted bloody hell!
