I never cared for it really. So, I never listened to it enough to get into its meaning. I love ABBA and have tremendous respect for Bjorn and Benny but I listen to and love ABBA because of the two beautiful singers...Agnetha and Frida. The guys are like a Lennon-McCartney in song writing but can’t sing John or Paul. The girls ROCK
This is no filler song! “Incomplete command of English?” - How insulting can you get. This is a very clever song with very clever lyrics, something McCartney would have been proud of I’m sure. To say the lyrics were ‘naff’ means you’d have to disregard half of The Beatles catalogue - Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, I Am The Walrus to name a few. The critic here doesn’t understand that the artistry of the song is its very wordplay and arrangement. The band coming in at the end of the song is masterful, almost Sgt. Pepperesque in delivery. I’m a progressive rock fan but have a massive soft spot for perfect pop and ABBA were and still are for me right at the top of the pile. Other fav tracks are “Me & I”, “Cassandra” and “I Am The City”.
I disagree on several points. For me this is the weakest song on the album The Visitors and it's okay that it happens, no group is perfect, ABBA has about 10 very weak songs, but more than 50 at the highest level And I don't agree with the comparison between Paul McCartney and The Beatles either. I take it as an irony towards Paul, who is a master at melodies but weaker at lyrics. but still songs with silly or simple lyrics like "Hello goodbye", "Ob-la-di ob-la-da" , or "Silly love songs" from his solo stage They are true masterpieces !!! (no comparation with "Two for the price of one") But opinions and tastes are different and all are respected and we learn to grow in diversity. kind regards P.S: I agree with "I am the city"more , and "Cassandra" too; not with "Me and I"
NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT. I LOOOOOOVE THIS TRACK TO BITS. I'M IN LOVE WITH ALL ABBA SONGS. THE ONE I LOVE THE LEAST, IS SANTA ROSA. ABBA=MASTERPIECE, ABBA, AN ETERNAL FLAME IN MUSIC❤💖💝💘

Wishin u an ABBA DABBA DOOO evenin 🤗
It's not one of my favorites but I don't think it's the worst ABBA song, although it's a different and risky proposal, The Visitors has worse like Like An Angel and the infamous Soldiers. If I have to choose the worst it would be either People Need Love or Lovers. People Need Love is a very experimental and somewhat country track, although ABBA vindicated themselves with He Is Your Brother, a bop. On the Lovers side, it's a very new wave influenced song and it's so flat and boring, the only highlights being the opening guitar and Agnetha's solo.
I don't agree with "People need love" (7pts) quite good and pure for being one of their first and not having the "wall of sound" production and I don't agree with "Soldiers" either (8pts) very good musically and very well sung If I agree with "Lovers..." (4/5 pts) too loud and ugly for my ear) and "Like an angel..." (4/5 pts) it seems like the song of a soloist and not of a group like ABBA
Muchos saludos...!!! ;)
