ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Margot and I am a professional artist and graphic designer. My parents like to joke that I was born with a paintbrush in hand. I started my career after graduating from the renown Parsons School of Design in New York City and spent over 15 years creating and designing for many of the world's top Fortune 500 brands and companies. My painting journey started as a side project and a creative outlet for me to step away from the computer, go back to my "roots" in fine art and to hone my skills as an illustrator and painter. I started posting some of my work on instagram and the rest is history. My work is inspired by all the things that I am passionate about. Ballet, travel, graphic design, color and finding a world of beauty in all facets of everyday life. I hope you'll join me in this RU-vid journey as I take you through all the tips, tricks and trade secrets I've gathered throughout the years. I hope I can teach you some of what I know, help you discover your creative voice and I hope you enjoy this Channel!

We'd just like to assure Margot and the community here that our Matte Acrylics contain neither eye of newt nor tongue of bat, and we're working to address issues of residual hauntings in our production facilities. Now, we understand the natural inclination when faced with smelly acrylic paint to suspect a malevolent supernatural influence, but just in case it's a batch issue or loss of biocide potency, we'd like to invite Margot to reach out and discuss her experience in more detail, so we can help end the horror. Love this, thank you! I needed some giggles today! And OHHHH…Did I ever have the same experience with the Silver Dagger! It’s nice to know it wasn’t just my inexperience 😂. I gave it to my best friend, a retired art professor, who was thrilled to inherit yet another supply I didn’t want…until she tried it when she got home. Months later, she says she ended up cutting some of the hairs, and uses it as a rigger. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 After 35+ years in emergency medicine, I’ve found the only other people who exemplify improvisation to the degree we did, are artists!

2 cute and what's funnier I had just seen yesterday's community post asking which thumbnail to use before I clicked on the video and saw the main comment was from Blick's so when I saw their paint as one of the horrors I died laughing! 😂 Maybe they got a chill and a premonition...either way as always enjoy your videos and appreciate the extra drama and time to make it extra spooky for us!

I'm getting back into watercolors for my character art, as one does, and I did not expect the The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde reference that pulled me out of my sketch. That's one of my favorite gothic pieces of literature and literature in general. xD

I only tried the DS Masking Fluid. I had high hopes for it, because i also thought the same as you - DS must be great. But i had the same experience. It was awful. It nearly destroyed my whole painting. And i had a very difficult time to get it of my arches cp paper. Since then i stayed away from masking fluids.😅😅 By the way.... i love your storytelling!❤

Ooh the DS is most certainly the worst I've tried. If you want to give it another go, I would check out Pebeo. It's cheap enough to be a minimal commitment 😉 Happy Halloween my dear!

😂😂😂😂…well done, Margo! Sometimes it's just as helpful to show what isn't too great as opposed to only what's going to give great results! And my mind thanks you!!! I thought I had lost mine when I also purchased W & N’s famous brush. Maybe it's the size 2 brush b/c that's what I bought as well and it looked just like yours. Only I was foolish enough to think it was a fluke and bought another one! I NEVER throw anything away, but I was so annoyed that they both ended up in the garbage! Thanks for the fun Halloween entertainment!!

The W&N series 7 has gone down in quality-ten years ago they were the best ever and every brush performed to perfection. I always use a nr 2 for my botanical work but have sadly found it is a Russian roulette to buy series 7, one gan get a brilliant one but as easily a bad one. I do not know if they have exonomised on sable quality or if the trained brushmakers got retired or if they moved the whole brushmaking to a country w cheaper labour and therefore cheaper quality or all three. But I am very sad as they were my constant rliable working tool. Now I go for Raphael or da Vinci and if I buy a series 7 I always do it in an art shop so I can try them out.

My series 7 brushes are lovely, but I’ve had some isolated stinkers from other brands with equally good reputations. Other fails I’ve had; Several different Daniel Smith tubes. A couple of WN pans. A couple of Sennelier tubes. A WN field kit design - went through the entire stock in a shop with the owner, they were all broken, in the end he sent them all back. Escoda brushes, various Arches paper Bockingford rough paper Botanical hp paper Lyra Rembrandt colouring pencils And all this having bought many other items successfully in the same range. Quality control is not great…or perhaps I just buy too much stuff to be able to find so many duds!

Ty so very much for taking, what I know must have taken hours and hours, to put this brilliant Halloween share together! It is by far the most entertaining thing I’ve seen on RU-vid, ever…and still being so helpful at the same time! You literally made my day, bc I absolutely love to laugh and laugh often each and every day 💜🙏👻 I also take my journey to learn watercolor as a fun and self enriching experience, which is mostly done in bed, due to a serious health situation. So injecting humor into it has been a blessing. Thank you for this and all your generosity and inspiration 💜✨
