The Worst/Disappointing Whiskey And Bourbons Of 2023 

Two of my favorite bottles this year, were two of your worst - JD twice-barreled rye and the Heaven Hill 20-year. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Stagg batch 23 C also drinks hot hotter then the 23b can’t wait too see that review

at the end of the day, 99% of viewers would be happy for just the chance to purchase any of these bottles 😅

You guys are absolutely crazy. What has happened to your pallets? JD Double Barrelled is one of the best whiskies I have ever tasted! Also, i have NEVER been disappointed in a Stagg.

I waited hours outside my VA ABC for the drop. Was first in line! Picked up the Old Fitz 10 year, woo hoo. Took her home and cracked it with buddies. That was a long wait for a handsome decanter!

As good as the JD SBBP Rye for 70 is, no way id spend the money on that 2023 release rye.

Funny you say the Stagg 23B drinks hot. I've only had 1 pour out of mine so far as a total blind picked from the shelf by my partner. I thought it drank complex but pegged the proof somewhere around 110. I was shocked at the bottle reveal. I think my guess was Hardin's Creek Jacob's Well. Definitely tasted a bit off profile to me but not in a bad way. Also, try the Ben Holladay Soft Red Wheat Rickhouse proof. I've just had an in-store sample so far but damn if it wasn't tasty. Excited to open the bottle.

This can get confusing. Fred minnick ranked Stagg 23b #11 on his top 100 of 2023 and you guys don’t like it? Must be a palate thing.

Yellowstone single malt is the only bottle I have drain poured. Bottle I had contained a melon-like off note

It would be interesting to know the environmental factors surrounding the really good bottles vs less stellar (Remus for example). Was it warmer, cooler during that aging for example. I bet someone knows the information

I agree with Ben Holladay, got to try it on new years and it came off as a really hot/younger Buffalo Trace product. I see the potential but they need to tinker with it.

I went back and tried the heritage rye to see if mine turned too and y’all are absolutely right. So disappointing because it was actually pretty tasty at first. The spirit on it seemed young to me though

I agree on the Ben Holladay. It is just ok. I disagree on the JD Twice Barreled. I just tried it again to make sure I am not crazy. Mine is burnt campfire, little marshmallow and cinnamon. But its all good. Everyone has their own palate. For MGP this year I enjoyed the Pinhook 8 and and Penelope 9. I passed on the Remus Repeal Reserve this year because of last years was such a disappointment. Keep up the good content.

I also enjoy the honesty…especially the Ben Holladay…way over hyped and borderline bad.

I love the honesty and not protecting the "sacred cow" bottles or distilleries. Even if I don't agree with you two 100% on your choices, you didn't hold back and try to be wishy-washy in order to not offend a distillery. That's what keeps me coming back!

Maybe you should stick to something like Jim Beam
