I am a born Trinidadian live in Trinidad for 45 years. I will settle this once and for all. I had doubles almost all over North Trinidad from Sangre Grande to St James and Chaguanas to Couva. I went Debe only a few times in my life and that was in the year 1999 and I saw several doubles vendors on the Debe strip. So I decide to try one and I chose a random vendor. I jump back in the vehicle to leave and start eating the doubles and I had to stop the vehicle to SPIT OUT THE DOUBLES AND THROW IT IN THE SIDEBUSH. And up to this day I NEVER HAD A STINKER DOUBLES IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. IT WAS ALSO THE STINKEST THING I EVER ATE IN MY LIFE. UP TO TODAY I REGRET EATING THAT STINKING FECES. DEBE CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER. EVEN THINKING ABOUT IT MAKES ME SICK UP TO TODAY. DEBE HAS THE STINKEST DOUBLES IN THE WORLD IN 1999. However, that was 25 years ago and things have changed. I believe they have improved their doubles and it isn't as STINK as it used to be. I think Hasaanali has the best doubles in DEBE and I think it taste OK. Not sure. History Note: Doubles was invented in SAN JUAN and NOT in PRINCESS TOWN. And that is why SAN JUAN has the best doubles in the world. Else if it was PRINCESS TOWN then it would have been DEBE who has the best. But Debe had the STINKEST DOUBLES IN THE WORLD. And yes, I am an EAST INDIAN who knows about doubles and the truth about its origin because my grandfather used to sell SINGLES in the 1940s in SANGRE GRANDE and he DID NOT get the recipe from PRINCESS TOWN but SAN JUAN. I don't sell doubles but I make doubles at home to eat and it is TASTY and NOT STINK. It is SHAMEFUL that the INDIAN COMMUNITY IN TRINIDAD IS LYING TO THE WORLD about the PRINCESS TOWN COUPLE invented SINGLES. An early photo proves NOTHING.
i totally agree,i don't eat doubles that often,but i am of mainly east indian descent and i would expect a mainly traditional indian area as "Debe" to have some of the best doubles,but sadly it's the worst doubles i ever had in Trinidad and it's from hosein's and hassanali etc in Debe!
okay well, best doubles in south is in san fernando, sutton street,opposite irving street park everyday except monday. go early in the mornings...like about 6.
I think this video is very wrong, they should not be juding Debe doubles especially giving condeming the doubles, because each outlet have different taste but they all taste good, some are more perfered over others but Debe have some of the best doubles each outlet are unique in its own way None of them deserve bad reviews They should think very deep before speeking It shows they deeply lack intelligence
When you mess with poor peoples income, by first prsenting the caption saying, "De worst doubles" you are giving a Bad Review. What do northerners and an English woman know about our local cuisine??
