@@soomi nah i'm not newer been here since t-ara released bo peep bo peep. I didnt say it was odd I just thought it was dumb of them to do that since t-ara was succesful. U dont see sm putting more members in snsd just sayin
Maybe this whole "save the company" thing is a marketing made by MBK so he can be change their image as a shit company. And Hangyul and Dohyun just have to follow their orders.
leemoNo ༄ YMC Ent managed IOI and Wanna One, SWING Ent managed Wanna One during the latter part of the year, and OTR manages IZ*One currently. Stone Music never managed any Produce group.
In spite of MBKE's mismanagement, T-ara released a lot of high quality content in a short period of time. From 2011 until 2013, they were probably the busiest Kpop group. So instead of hating on MBKE, I do thank them for providing the financing and support to allow T-ara to make such great MVs and music and become the legend they are today.
T-ara's downfall was because of HwaYoung, she was only added to the lineup because she was daughter of a big MBK investor, (only known as Mr. Ryu) she even wasn't a trainee she just got the green light because of influence. (Regardless of how credible or not the arguments due to different sources, about why she was added to T-ara) She wasn't bullied by the members (plenty of evidence even provided by the groups staff) she was only being dramatic and refused to work as hard as the other members. T-ara was so huge and their music and concept hasn't been done again. True queens, 6ara forever. The company should have managed the miniscule problem that turned out to be a entire mess. They completely ruined their image but still T-ara is legendary, Jiyeon, Qri, Hyomin and Eunjung flighted for the rights on the groups name and finally won at the beginning of this year, they haven't announced a disbandment and we only hope they can comeback someday, the 29th of July is their 10 year anniversary and they're having a Vlive 🎉 queens. Praying for DIA's future 🙏🏼
Nightjar on the gate lmao why are you defending her so much? there’s a bunch of evidence pointing to all the terrible things she did just to not work as hard as the members. and tbh about my comment, that’s just what the comment said and i thought of that and commented. yes, with no proof of it i admit, but ultimately i wasn’t really ‘claiming’ anything. i just commented on what the op said.
There's a group called Badkiz (or Hot place) who debuted in 2014, every time they came back they had a completely new lineup they have 19 former members in total, mbk isn't even adding that much members to their groups fortunately. Another girl group called Rania who were pretty successful back in the days also had a lot of line up changes, they also have 15 former members
@@donewithyouall3765 lmao Rania is still going sadly with No original members and crap promotion. Their gimmick a few yrs ago was having a black member, now they have a Brazilian member
Hwayoung was the biggest mistake!!!!!!!! It broke my heart when tara flopped after all the success!!! They would have been the same as girls generation today!!!
Love Luv love as a 2nd generation fan tara was literally everywhere variety shows, movies you name it they would have been as good as girl generation trust me I didn’t talk about a song being popular the group over all they both were rookies
@@rayna5561 snsd wasnt rookies. 2ne1, t-ara and Kara all had their big break that year. Those 3 were on variety shows. If i remember correctly snsd was already ngg by gee. I think snsd wouldve have had a scandal tbh to have been beaten fully that year til 2011
sometimes i forgot the fact that unb and uni.t were managed by mbk and everytime it comes across my mind, i always go "no wonder their promotion was pretty shit"
she was sooo successful as a kid and then mbk just has to come in and ruin it all don't they-- she honestly could've been in a movie or some shit (because of her acting experience) from the way she was going as a kid or mayBeE be an actual famous kpop star im-
OMG SAVE MY BABIES HANGYUL AND DOHYUN PLEASE THEYRE FROM MBK ISTG PLEASE LEAVE MBK LIKE, I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO IM (hangyul's group) THEY DEBUTED IN 2017 WITH ONE SONG AND GUESS WHAT ? THEY NEVER DID ANYTHING TOGETHER AS A GROUP ANYMORE. COME ON YALL LET'S SAVE ALL OF THEM FROM MBK ! 😫 p.s. really random but i want IM and dohyun to sign with RBW like how yangpa did...since dohyun plays the piano and IM is a sort of band/ballad group, i wish they could join onewe... ughh i really want them to leave MBK
OMG EXACTLY, the fact that they are from MBK was what made me want both of them in the final lineup, since MBK would obviously fuck them over, and i love both of them so much i-😢😢
owhh so this is why choi yena from iz*one referenced his brother when her family told her not to be an idol because his brother's debut had problems :0
Choi Sungmin of SPEED is actually the older brother to IZ*ONE's Choi Yena. Yena even mentioned on Produce48 that her parents were against her being an idol, claiming that it did not go well for Sungmin. Apart from current MBK artists, Sejun of SPEED, Han Areum, and Han Seoin of The Seeya participated on The Uni+.
Sungmin was always my favorite in SPEED/Co-ed School and when I found out that his sister was a trainee I really wished she would do well I'm glad she is having success even though i'm still sad about speed.
@@andredrw289 yep taewoon also joined mixnine. Chanmi also joined produce 101 s1 and mixnine and she claimed that she prepared with snsd for their debut but she wasnt in the final lineup of snsd.
Yeah but they are not as bad. Most of their controversies are personal(idols/YG messing up) one instead of company wise. But it still bad at managing their idols.
Cherry_ Pop they both participated in produce x 101 and made it into the final lineup ! they’re “trainees” (hangyul debuted in a group called im66 but mbk silently disbanded them without letting us know they were disbanded, we only found out when they changed im66’s insta to the mbk trainees insta)
@@riri3531 Yeah I was still pretty new to kpop around that time so keeping up with it would probably be impossible...Watching this video was also the first thing I did after waking so maybe I was too tired.Respect to anyone who managed to do so though holy fuck...
Ashley Shane members aren’t necessarily subtracted, but dream does have the graduation system. Thats in place so dream keeps the concept of being young, and appealing to the teenage audience. Once the boys do graduate, they can go on to the other subunits, but they don’t leave NCT.
i think another series you should do is "The Best Entertainment Companies" that can inspire ppl with dreams to not risk wasting their time and actually join a better company!!
@Ashley Shane isn't pnation in hot water rn?? like apparently they were involved in that drug scandal or smth (seungri or B.I but it was definitely smth to do with yg)
@Ashley Shane yeah ik... that's what i was talking about... PSY was found to be involved in one of those scandals... but i don't think it was JYPnation.. i've never even heard of that company lol but yeah ppl have been saying that pnation has been involved in a scandal and don't have much money at this point
@Ashley Shane i still don't think cube is that horrible: the decision to remove Hyojong and Hyuna was the peak of stupidity and pentagon were destroyed right after their first success, and the promotions are sometimes really poor, but i like the fact that their idols have freedom on their music
T-ara is still one of the best and most legendary kpop groups ever. MBK really is the worst since the scandal blowing up was almost fully their fault since they never took action to tell the truth (except years after). They just made T-ara their scapegoat
This is just a theory, do you think about the rumour hayoung being the daughter of the mbk investor is true? Maybe just maybe, they can say it now since the investor is not involved anymore.
Let me add some facts that were left out of the video. :) - DAVICHI also debuted under CCM but after KKS (kim kwangsoo, the ceo) only let them sing mostly OSTs they decided to leave the company in 2012. - CO-ED SCHOOL was pretty much over when one of their members, Kangho had a sexual assault scandal which turned into a whole drug scandal, it was a mess. - 5-Dolls bullying scandal: after Soomi left the group, appearently her friends started claiming online that Chanmi and Eunkyo basically bullied her out of the group. MBK never denied or confirmed this. - AHREUM from T-ARA admitted there were obviously some arguments in the group but she added it was all natural. The thing she didn’t get over with was netizens saying she is on drugs and having mental illness for simply dressing up on Halloween. The bullying scandal didn’t help her at all, she decided to leave the entertainment industry for 5 years since she was mentally exhausted. - T-ARA’s Jiyeon was involved in another scandal where someone leaked pictures of her stripping down in front of a webcamera. She was underaged, only 14 years old. MBK never said a thing. Appearently IU’s ‘Dear My Friend’ is about Jiyeon. - T-ARA N4’s ‘Jeon Won Diary’ is a straight message to their haters, just look at the lyrics: ‘mind your own business’ ... ‘why you hating’ ... ‘i’ll do whatever i want, what do you care?’ ... ‘i’m doing just fine so why are you butting in?’ ... ‘will you just shhh and mind your own business?’ ... ‘why do you only bother me?’. - T-ARA N4 was interrupted in the middle of their performance in the US by Chris Brown. MBK never said a thing. They also had a collab coming. They never released it. - T-ARA despite leaving MBK, they didn’t disband. - T-ARA’s trademark lawsuit. MBK wanted to keep T-ARA’s name to use it after they leave the company but after a year thankfully T-ARA won the case. - GANGKIZ was simply moved to MBK’s sub-label after they didn’t do well, they literally gave up on them. - SPEED has disbanded in 2015 throughout a Facebook post, yes. - IM66 was supposed to officially debut in 2017-2018 as a 10 member boygroup including Hangyul and Ki-o from SPEED yet they never debuted only their sub-unit: iM. - IM66’s Giseok’s scandal totally made their debut impossible, netizens accused him to have multiple girlfriends and having STD, the last thing we’ve heard about him is him enlisting to the army. - Most of the IM66 members already left MBK. Taeeun joined a dance group, meanwhile Junhyuk totally left the industry. Sometimes Junhyuk keeps liking DIA’s posts and replying under them thanking for all the memories. - SEEYA has disbanded because MBK made Gyuri overshadowing literally the other members by only giving her every CF deals and acting roles. - DIA’s Chaeyeon was being overworked during their Mr.Potter era. MBK made her promoting at the same time as IOI had a comeback, she lost a ton of weight and looked ill. - DIA members leaving scheme: Seunghee (originally from 5-Dolls) left the group officially in 2016 after going on hiatus, Eunjin (original DIA member) left the group in 2018 due to health issues after being put on hiatus for several months and Jenny (original DIA member) left the group in 2019 due to her osteomalacia after not hearing from her for months after she announced it on Instagram it’s just a hiatus till she recovers. UPDATE (2020. 06. 15.) Jenny has officially left. Just to make things interesting now Somyi is on hiatus due a rumor since 2019. We don’t know what will happen in the future, MBK is not answering questions. - DIA members being sent to reality shows: Chaeyeon and Heehyun to PD101, Yebin and Somyi to The Unit and Eunchae, Heehyun and Jueun to V1. - DIA’s promotions are always messy and lacking. - DIA as of 2018 didn’t receive paychecks despite winning no1 place on The Show with WooWoo. - SHANNON singing ‘Why Why’ according to her damaged her voice pretty much and even though she asked the company to not sing it live anymore, MBK refused to listen to her. - SHANNON’s guide was probably for T-ARA or IOI. - MBK never credited EXID’s LE when she is totally in the track ‘Sugar free’ by T-ARA. - MBK made The Unit and UNDER 19. - 1THE9 is under MBK Entertainment. - MBK has nothing to do with MNET anymore, they cut ties in 2015, but yes CCM started off as a subsidiary of Mnet Media. - KKS and his mediaplay. Don’t wanna go into details but he loves attention very much and even if it’s damaging his own artists he is willing to do the most. (for example before DIA had a comeback with WooWoo the dating news of DIA’s Jueun and BTOB’s Sungjae came out) - KKS’s fraud investigation in 2013. Just look it up. - KKS appearently only added Hwayoung to T-ARA because of her father. Her father is appearently a highly ranked figure in the world of politics. - KKS is also having connections to Zenith Media. Z-girls and Z-boys. Do the math. In conclusion, yes, MBK is trash but their artists deserve(d) better. Please keep supporting DIA, 1THE9 and Hangyul and Dohyun in X1. Also support the T-ARA members too. They need it pretty much.
For Co-ed School kangho and 5dolls somi 's scandale it was fake . but MBK never denied. SPEED even go to Japan and cancel their performence because they didn't have visa . Taemin and Sangwon was suppose to be in SPEED, not Ki-o
I tear up everytime I see the moment they get the trophy in 2017. What happened to them breaks my heart, they suffered a lot, but I'm happy Hyomin is pretty successfull on her own. Also after the CEO said he was guilty for their scandal, he still managed to take the remaining members to court fighting for the name of the group... Like such a garbage person! My girls won anyway and hopefully they will comeback someday... Hyomin still presents herself as a member of T-ara, so they didn't disband.
Jackie Tang did you see her Japanese debut? It wasn’t that long ago. She also did an ost for a drama and it was pretty good. But I do need Elsie to do a comeback.
iv panic Oh, I know he left! I just hope he’s okay with what’s happening with his father, people keep making memes with his fathers death like, "He would still be alive if he stanned ______” on Twitter and I bet Samuel has seen them, but I just hope he’s doing okay, people that are making memes are just horrible people.
ivpanic They (Non-Kpop fans) say it’s because Army’s and Blinks kept saying it to X or any american/non-asian youtuber, singer, rapper, or ect. But they don’t realize Samuels only 17, he’s probably sensitive to those comments as he’s still young. I just wish people would be more nice. I saw someone that hated k-pop (on twitter) that even said people needed to stop making those jokes.
NUI KAT ohhh ok thx I was a bit confused cuz CIX is gonna debut soon and I was excited so I thought the company did something realllyyy bad to another group so I feared for CIX. Tbh putting a group on hiatus for 2 year is bad cuz the band could lose a lot of fans in that period but it's not the worst thing a company could do but tbh but it's pretty bad
I think everything got worse after the Hwayoung-gate If it wasn't for that, T-ARA would have done super well and the other groups like F-VE Dolls and Speed could have done much better
I'll add my two cents as someone who was a fan at the time. CCM/MBK at the time originally just wanted Hyoyoung for 5Dolls, but their father (or was it Kim Kwang Soo himself) decided they had to be a package deal and decided to make up some bullshit to get Hwayoung in T-ara. Nobody asked for her, nobody wanted her there, she added nothing to the group and her voice was annoying in retrospect. The twins were a little TV famous at the time because I think they showed up on a TV show because one or both of them were in a beauty pageant? I forget, but those variables led to CCM pulling strings to get them into groups. At the time of CCM infamously announcing Ahreum and Dani's additions to T-ara, the CEO/company said some scary shit along the lines of "Members are being added to encourage the existing members to work harder". Everyone following the group at the time was like wtf. It seriously sounded like the CEO was calling out the members and saying they aren't safe in their positions. Now at the time, I thought, is this company and CEO absolutely psycho? Looking back, I have a feeling they were highly regretting adding Hwayoung to the group even before the scandal. SHE was the one who was lazy. People refused to acknowledge that Hwayoung was the problem, but all the signs were there. Once the "scandal" started, what were the first two things that happened? 1) T-ara calls her out on Twitter 2) Company decides to terminate Hwayoung's contract after talking with members and staff. If CCM would've taken two seconds to explain, everyone would've understood but unfortunately the internet is fill of gullible, stupid people who would rather confirm their beliefs than know the big picture. For the company to just outright terminate her contract like that was a clear statement that she was the issue. PS, for anybody that bullied T-ara or followed the rumors back in the day, I hope you're willing to admit now that you were wrong. Having to defend them tooth and nail on the internet for years was torture because people chose to be ignorant.
*Management Guide* by MBK *Step 1:* take every trainee that you can find under your wing *Step 2:* throw them into random groups *Step 3:* hope for a wonder *Step 4:* drop them like a hot potato if you don't see any immediate success *Step 5:* repeat *Pro Tip:* don't spend money and time on actual management. success should come magically, duh.
They messed up my babies IM too, like we haven't heard anything from them since the unit, kijoong debuted with UNB, who disbanded. And hangyul is gonna debut with X1 (?). So imma have to assume they sadly disbanded. They were so talented tho
They have. IM was a sub unit of IM66 who... Never gets to debut. IM debuted, went to The Unit, Ki Jung won and then... Tae Eun lefts and Giseok had apparently a controversy, after that he enlist himself to the military (as always MBK says nothing) IM66's IG account was cleaned up and renamed as MBKboys.
yeah IM66 is never going to exist.. and it sucks. I was such a big fan of IM after The Unit. But Giseok's controversy and Taeeun leaving and then MBK being the absolutely worst and not giving any info... I hope the MBKboys somehow make it out better. I saw Taeeun at ACE's concert and it broke my heart that he doesn't get to be on stage. He looked so grown up.
Hwayoung actually made an appearance on the Masked Singer and when it was revealed that it was her, the public did not take it well. She got severe backlash. As expected people still love T-ara.
Fun fact: MBK, back in their CCM days were planning to debut a girl group that was called "CCM Girls" (I presume it was a placeholder name), the groups last official line-up consisted of five members, two of which went on do debut in other groups, mainly Lina (or Linah, sisted of Girls Day's Minah, former member of WANNA.B and the predbut group under Dreamcatcher media BELLA4) and CoCo (soloist, former member of CoCoSoRi). Also MBK atleast deleted their artists after disbandment on Zenith Media's site LIPBUBBLE is still on (after being disbanded since March), Haea is still on even tho she left in 2017, ZEST's last comeback was in 2016 osthey are pretty much dead and it is pretty official that Lina, Sejin and Eunsom left WANNA.B yet they are still up. Pretty much the only active groups under ZM are the Z-GIRLS and Z-BOYS and they dont even have a page.
@@Handi_Suyadi No litterly i checked yesterday they deleted them today, after backstabbing them back in March. Haea left so long ago weird that they didnt delete her while reorganazing the site for LIPBUBBLEs comeback with "Yellow Pink" or WANNA.Bs with "Leggo". Zenith is really weird they still say that Eunsom, Sejin and Lina are members of WANNA.B when it is clear they left.
it bums me out not seeing dia mentioned in the responses. they have *SO* much potential and i don’t think it will ever pay off. they’ve been around for *5 years* now and they are still struggling. MBK is awful and won’t promote them.. their only updates typically come from eunice’s youtube channel, not their official one managed by MBK. the footage is all from eunice herself, the management seems nonexistent??? even in a video about MBK’s awful management, they aren’t mentioned by commenters :( three members have already left dia and its practically been a year since their last comeback... i’m pretty sure they’re going to disband soon but i hope not. they are all so talented and hardworking, it sucks to see them be constantly overlooked. you should do a whole video on them, their treatment needs to be talked about more and their name needs to be spread especially :(
@@ChaennieLisoo I LOVE THESE VIDEOS. I'll tell you. This is my opinion but I feel like RBW is not a bad company. Because MAMAMOO is my ultimate group and the fact they have so many comebacks and the right amount of songs and are not overworked I like them. But idk what goes on on the inside I just think this because I always see MAMAMOO smiling.
Im curious if you are going to talk about other kpop companies that aren't 'the worst'. I think it'd be neat to learn about other companies that aren't the spawn of satan. We love learning here lmao. Love these videos too btw! 😁💝💕
You should really look into Star Empire... there is a whole documentary on 9Muses and you can see how bad they were treated before debut. Also many other instances of them screwing their groups over with bad management.
TARA DESERVED BETTERRRR!!! Their bops popped off harder than any on their girl group and each member was doing well in other solo activities, DREAM HIGH 1 AND 2!!!
Thanks for taking the time to put together this video. T-ara was near the peak of their popularity when I first got into K-pop back in 2012. Their big budget MV production of "Day by Day" was eye-opening as it reminded me so much of the long-form music videos that were actually short films that were common in my youth on MTV in the late 80's. I always thought the bullying scandal wasn't as much bullying as it was typical of how sometimes personalities in a group are a very bad match and when dealing with people in their teens and late 20's they often don't have the maturity to handle things well in such situations. As you pointed out, I think that netizens many of whom may have been anti-fans of the group did a lot of selective editing to make it look like the original members of T-Ara were beating their new member. Personally I think the original members thought their new member was slacking off and made their displeasure obvious both in private and worse in public and that only made things worse. It gets back to maturity again. Someone who is 19 to 23 years old sometimes doesn't realize that a personnel problem like that needs to be handled well or it is a bomb that can explode in your face. Some people react well to high expectations and perhaps the cold shoulder as a motivator and other people crack under that pressure. People often like to think that K-pop groups are all close friends behind the scenes, and sometimes they are, but sometimes they are simply co-workers who don't really like each other personally, and often when you insert a new member a year or two past debut there are chemistry problems where they just never fit with the original members and that leads to bad misunderstandings and jealousies. Unfortunately, as you point out, the company, which needed to be the adult in the situation badly mismanaged the situation. I seem to recall reading that part of the problem was that one of the top bosses at MBK was hospitalized with a serious health condition at the time the bullying scandal cropped up and that likely did not help matters as it is a bit like when a ship is in stormy waters and the captain is incapacitated. Often these companies are tied very much to their founders or a top manager and when that person is suddenly out of the picture no one else has the authority, experience, or the willingness to stick their neck out in that person's absence especially when there is a true crisis that needs addressing. While it is sad that T-ara's success was likely curtailed significantly, when you look at the big picture for the original members, they still had a run that many trainees and debuted idols would kill to have. The vast majority of groups never win a show or have a top 10 hit in their career let alone several. It is a bummer that the members will likely be better remembered for a bullying scandal perhaps than their music. However they are not completely innocent either as the moment they threw shade on another member on Twitter that turned this into a public spectacle and that is never a winning move.
i miss t-ara so much. bo peep bo peep was one of my first ever kpop songs when i was 13, and it makes me so sad knowing the groups that sang my first kpop songs are gone. (4minute, kara, and t-ara, to be specific)
when the mbk trainees came onto produce x 101 they were saying “save mbk” since they were going through financial issues. i hope since dohyun and hangyul are debuting they might be able to get themselves back together a bit and be able to promote their current idols better.
The intro is amazing love you Queen In all we should say this is an irresponsible company the other groups could be successful if they promoted them right
great video. Thank you. IMO T-ara were on the receiving end of the biggest injustice in pop music history. The amount of scorn both publicly and privately that they had to deal with was insane... but ironically it's also what is so great about them. They way they endured it and kept coming back is completely inspiring. A heap of their best songs came after the scandal especially the ones that were overtly clear, tough responses directly addressing it like Jeon Won Diary and Sugar Free. This is when everybody knew they wouldn't be winning any music shows anymore.... even Queens never expected another win... but still they kept coming Number 9, Do You Know Me, Bunny Style, So Crazy, Tiamo ...so many great songs and for each and every comeback they had to be grilled again and again about the scandal. No promotion period was complete unless T-ara were crying apologetically on national television. Still, they kept coming. They will always be a definitive group in the era which saw k-pop's greatest rise. In this video, you pose the question 'what could T-ara have achieved if there wasn't the scandal or if they had been managed properly?' This is a vital and fair question. I have often wondered the exact same thing but then another thought always takes over: what could they have done that was greater than what they did by enduring and overcoming? The way they handled it will always set T-ara apart for me. It's what makes them truly special and I guess that's the real irony.
the mismanagement of the unit and the groups that came out of it makes me particularily angry because the program was supposed to HELP idols who were already struggling and instead they just.... did nothing
Hey, I would be very happy if you made a video about the Chinese trainees/members and SM situation. A lot of people don't know how SM treats their Chinese members and trainees and I'm scared that it will get harder in the future. Thank you
Anybody who was in Kpop long enough would have heard of the T-ara incident. Tbh at that time it does changed my view on the girls, though i love their music so much. I didn’t follow up on the news as i was not a T-ara fan, but hearing the truth being exposed years later makes me feel so sad. They have so much potential, and they could have become one of the greatest groups that lasts till today if it’s not for that. It’s such a shame these unfortunate things happened to them.
i feel like mbk's earlier years were just them being dummies but then as years went on they just became a shitty company and have no excuse NOW for anything they do
The thing about T-ara and Hwayoung is that no matter what is going on between artist's, whether it was the group bulling her or Hwayoung not working well as part of the team, it is management's responsibilities to look after them. They have a duty of care and when issues began to arise between members they should have quashed it or worked it out. They didn't and as a result T-ara, MBK, and Hwayoung, lost a lot. Nobody was a winner. T-ara looked like a group of bullies who picked on one girl. Hwayoung looked like a trouble maker who destroyed T-ara. And MBK looks like a terrible company. Careers and reputations destroyed.
A better company could have worked it all out behind the scenes. I don't expect idols (or coworkers) within the group to be friends with each other but at least have respect. Starts from the culture and when you are competing with each other to debut in a group... can't imagine leaving that competitive spirit behind. There will be issues along the way, and unfortunately CCM/MBK handled it in the absolute worst way possible.
3:57 the group actually originally consisted of Eunjung, Hyomin, Jiyeon, Jiwon (spica), and Hana/Jiae (Jevice). With that lineup they released the song Good Person which was an OST. it has a music video as well. But Jiwon and Jiae left before debut due to musical differences
