There's a lot of features on the Jeep Grand Cherokee... but not all of them are good unfortunately. Let's talk about the WORST features of the Jeep Grand Cherokee from someone who has owned several from a 2018 Altitude to an SRT. No matter what model you are looking at buying whether it has a 3.5l v6, 5.7L hemi v8 or the 6.4L there are issues with all of them that are not fun! Overall I can't say if it's a good/bad suv or the right car for you, but there are things to consider when shopping for a new or used one!
1. Gas pump clicking off every time you try to fill up your Jeep - The fix? Flip the gas handle/nozzle upside down when pumping gas to stop it from clicking or shutting off every time.
2. MDS / Auto Mode - On the hemi v8 engines in Jeep Grand Cherokees the MDS system will disable cylinders to give you the "power you need" at that time. This leads to lifter issues and hemi tick in many v8 mopar vehicles.
3. Auto start/stop feature on v6 Jeep models - One of the most annoying things... when your Jeep feels like it isn't going to drive or start for half a second at every red light or time you slow down too much.

For 99 dollars I purchased a device called a start stop eliminator for my Jeep Wrangler,it took about ten minutes to install and boom problem solved. Now if you want to turn the system on you press the button if not it stays off. 😁😁😁😁

The auto brake gets freaked out if you're backing a trailer up!!! Mine has been disabled since the first time I had a trailer hooked to mine.

I have a 2021 JGC Altitude, and I love it. Most of the safety and emission features you didn’t like, I absolutely do. Start/Stop, back up sensors and even though you didn’t mention it, forward anti-collision radar, which is saving me around $75.00 per month off my insurance. One of my main gripes however is the infotainment system is buggy sometimes, and the temperature on the climate control is inconsistent. The lane departure warning took some getting used to, but use your turn signal and you’ll never feel it.

I haven't experienced the issue you described when backing up, but I'm guessing the feature is there in case a child happens to be behind the vehicle that has not been seen. What I have experienced is the auto braking coming on whilst driving a country road, for some reason it doesn't like some corners, as I approach it slams the brakes on for no reason that I can see.

Just a correction on the headlight bulbs cause I'm sure you were referring to the non SRT or Trackhawk models having halogen bulbs but all the SRT and Trackhawk Jeeps come standard with HID bulbs. With that said, I also upgraded the bulbs to the OSRAM Night Breaker Lasers cause driving at night with the stock HID bulbs with tinted windows all around was horrible 😅

3yrs my 2021 srt no fuel fill problems. ECO mode is for warm fuzzies for certain people if they happen to be present. Same for MDS so use sport mode. Start stop for city traffic n smog and the srt dosn't have it. Would like and may fit selectable exhaust valves.

I just bought a 2014 that has the “chrome” cracking and peeling on the cup holder. Near as I can tell only way to fix is replace the whole cup holder. Would be nice if that trim was replaceable.

I hate the start stop feature. Every time it activates (because I forget to disable when I get in my JGC) I can just visualize my starter getting ground to a pulp. Wear/replacement item=$$$

The dealer replace the purge valve and now I can pump gas again normally Also if your driver's door is open you cannot put the vehicle and drive

It’s weird I have a 17 altitude and for the first year it never did it then it did it for 3 months straight and now it hasn’t done it since summer Another thing The start stop has always been super annoying but recently a dashboard light popped up saying it doesn’t work anymore so I don’t have to deal with it anymore so I’m grateful for that

Some of mine on my altitude are how it’s a “ blacked out” trim but the grill wasn’t blacked out auto start stop…no paddle shifters halogen bulbs i replaced with LEDs adaptive cruise control that i asked for but never got and that it’s a v6 and not a v8 which i asked for too

That 5.7 / 6.4 Hemi lifter issue is not in any way related to the MDS System. It is a low oil flow / pressure issue that manifests itself regardless of the engine cylinder deactivation. An upgraded oil pump (Melling / Hellcat) will fix it. So the next time you have the front cover off, replace the oil pump and lifters and it'll be right as rain!

Recently just got a grand Cherokee and for the past 3 months i have been unknowingly driving in eco mode. The ride has been smoother ever since i turned it off. At least my gas has been lasting a little 😂

I filled out a survey for jeep and told them that start stop feature was going to get me killed, worst feature ever especially driving in Morgantown you hesitate and you are going to cause an accident, everyone who drives here knows you go if you have an opening and expect is someone pulls out they go right into the flow of traffic. I don't like the location of the 4WD selection in the vehicle my dog kept stepping on the 4WD low button I had to get a box to go over the control. There are some rattles I can't figure where they are coming from and are driving me nuts

I HATE the auto lane correction safety feature. Omg it feels like a jerk and it looks like one to others to when the feature is on and you go anywhere near the lane lines of the lane your in other than when I have a turning signal on. I could care less about auto stop/start feature……I don’t notice it at all unless the temp outside has drastically changed and it comes on while driving. I think those are the 2 features I dislike the most. 1:40 (you don’t mention the auto lane correction in this video that’s just a feature I absolutely hate!

i recently bought it for my srt 392 . 100% worth it. also super easy to install. just follow directions when installing and using and you’ll be alright

This navigation setup sucks. My Cherokee came from Louisiana I'm in Tennessee the lot I purchased from tried unsuccessfully for about 4 hours to reset this navigation finally after exhausting their tech guy they made a appt an the Local Dodge dealer for today . Hopefully they know how to reset this. 🤔🫣
