Kidd was never a good person. Even if he doesnt kill shanks crew, he doesnt need to do so to be viewed as evil. The guy literally got famous by murdering innocent civilians. Even past that we saw how he murders people who are already down and have given up. Kidd Is a villain in my eyes that just happened to team up with the straw hat/heart pirates alliance for an arc. Genuinely dont know where people got this idea that he was good.
His bounty was high only because of the fact that he did kill anyone he basically crossed paths with. That's why big always said Luffy and Law where really the strongest out of the 3 even though he helped with Big Mom

Morj doesn't understand that the worst generation are ROOKIES. They just started doing their thing not many years ago, the Legends of old had decades to build their power and reputation. No generation had this many promising rookies, so naturally they are being hyped up as the future of pirates, joining ranks with the legends eventually.

Don’t 100% agree with this take, but I will say this is a sympton of Oda giving most of world shaking events in this series to the Straw Hats. The problem with the Worst Generation is that they were stated to he Trouble Makers who could potentially disrupt the balance of the World. But really Luffy and Teach are the only ones who have done this. The rest have at most been minor nuisances. Kidd and Law’s biggest impact loses its punch because it happens in a situation where Luffy was the driving force.

I mean remember that most pirates are literal dogshit. New World standard threats are like Brown Beard or Hajruddin. I think this is really underselling the Worst Generation, and they were never played up to be eventually all on the level of stuff like Rocks or Roger. I agree many ended up being narrative disappointments, but that’s mainly because half of them were in Wano which was a mess. And then there’s Kidd; I think the disappointment in him is literally spreading to the rest of the Supernovas.

It's the Worst Generation because its 1 year of rookies converging on Sarobody. Each Generation is literally 1 year. Cavendish was the previous generation and Bartolemelow is 2 generations after Luffy's. That is why they are the worst 11 of them had bounties above 100 mill when they reached the mid point. 12 if you count Teech but he reached Sarobody later due to his Marinford plan.
I think the point of ythe worst generation was that their come ups were easy cuz they're big fishes in small ponds but once they enter the new world that would be the true test to see whos really worthy of that worst generation title
They all reached the Sabaody archipelago during the same year. I'm guessing the generation here is representing 1 year. During the previous generation the most powerful rookie pirate was Cavendish, and that was probably the average year for piracy. Kaido, Xebec, and Big Mom are not the same generation.

Couple of flaws in all of this that I’ve been thinking about a lot: the historical pirate comparison. Those characters look so elite because we don’t know the full context of their era. There might have been a huge drop off after the top three then too. I mean look at some of the bounties that survive from that era, I mean Chinjao? He fought Garp and Roger and had a respectable bounty. But he’s fodder basically. Also on the admiral point: I think as a result of the Roger era, the navy now is much stronger than the navy then. The garp story alone basically says they were getting stomped until Garp and Sengoku came around and literally conspired with pirates to shake things up. Garp’s mission by the time he is seen with Ace and co. seems to be to raise the next hero’s of the marines, maybe because he knows he’s fucked if not? Even the creation of the Shichibukai can basically be seen as a continuation of the successful pattern of the Garp era, I mean it might’ve even been as one sided (other than the rocks battle) then too to be honest. One thing we haven’t seen yet is why Roger was considered to be such a villain. Anyways, the new admirals, the children of Sengoku and Garps will to build a better navy, would probably have changed the tides of that era.
They were called the "worst" because they are referred to as the "ultimate trouble makers". The ultimate trouble makers for the established order. Nothing was ever implied during their introduction that they are called the "worst" because they are the weakest.
Random thought I had: Even if luffy can't learn advanced conqueror's haki during the timeskip, the fact he didn't even know it existed until roofpiece is absurd. Rayleigh didn't tell him during a year & 1/2 of training? Not even a "hey, when you learn advanced CoA, try swapping armament for conqueror's".
Not every conqueror can coat their attacks. Luffy was getting bitched by admirals in the arc prior to that. Rayleigh doesn't have much reason to believe Luffy even had the aptitude to learn it. Remember Ace didn't as well, neither did Katakuri

According to Rayleigh, it takes the average person more than two years to master the basics of haki. Luffy had learnt to be adequate in all 3 types, develop his devil fruit in such a way that he removed the limitations of gear 3rd and Gear 2nd, use his elasticity in unique ways, and increase his physical stats. Rayleigh’s aim was not getting him to the level of emperors or their elite commanders, or showing him how to handle an emperors crew when in conflict with them. Apart from the Yonko and their commanders, and Admirals, there are not many pirates or marines who knew how to use the advanced forms of haki.
Your ranking is because you are OVERESTIMATING them. They are a bunch of rookies for 2 years. The previous Yonkos have been around for decades. Only Luffy's growth rivals that because he has that potential.

I think all "worst generation" and "supernova" mean is that these pirates had a meteoric rise, whereas it seems most other pirates take years or decades to gain notoriety or gain any sort of fame, ie a bounty around 300 mill in the span of about a year.
Yeah but the problem is they don't even come close to Luffy in any way, except for Blackbeard. Even Kidd and Law are very far behind him in comparison. The story treating them as "rivals" doesn't really do justice.
@@justaway6901 I don't think they were ever supposed to compete with Luffy. It always seemed as if they were just pirates from the other seas that we never got to experience, so basically there to flesh out the world, as if Oda was just saying it can happen elsewhere. I think the biggest misstep is that Oda spent so much time on Kidd, making it seem like they all should be rivals when I don't think that was ever supposed to be the case. Blackbeard was set up really well very early on, but none of the others got that treatment, and so I assumed we didn't have to think about the others in a similar fashion since they were introduced so late. There's also not really much room in the story for them to be contenders. Kidd and Law were never going to beat Shanks and Blackbeard. It would make no sense with how the story has been set up, clearly emphasizing those two as milestone encounters for Luffy. With that in mind, I don't see how many of the others were ever meant to do anything but fall short or be anything but supporting members like Law has been for hundreds of chapters.
Didn't the old generation reach their prime in their 30's 40's and 50's comparittibley speaking 2 of the worst gen are yonko and 2 others defeated a yonko at much younger ages
The problem with this video is that it ignores that almost none of the Worst Generation is in their prime yet. Roger, WB, Kaido, Shanks, etc weren't as strong in their 20s as they are now, so it's unfair to assume the WG won't get stronger. Shanks was already in his 30s before he became a Yonko, and he's the youngest.
Mihawk clearly said becoming pirate king is much harder goal than becoming strongest swordsman.. And in no universe mihwak stronger than roger.. i doubt he is even stronger than shanks.. for those who say shanks and roger are swordsmen.. shanks can use observation killer attack... Blocks opponent observation haki.. which is not any sword related attack.. they can do much more than just swinging swords.. shanks can come in middle and stopped war.. mihwak bitched out ..if Mihawk is strogest guy why do he need to join warlord and cross guild..

I agree with allot of this. Except for law. The amount of strength he gained between fighting doflomingo to fighting big mom is insane and was in such short time. Law has zoro/ luffy progression but it’s like he started really late so he’s left behind a bit. And yes if kid would’ve killed all them ppl . I would’ve been peed off
My favorite secondary-class worst gen is Bege precisely because he's not a fighter. He's a mafia man who, iirc, was one inconvenience away from killing BM and getting away with it. Gotta love his fruit too, making him his own land battleship that might become a giant ass castle that can hold some punches from furious BM. I really like his participation in WCI but now he's just nonexistent?

The current Era has a pretty severe handicap just because of the story's timeline. The story will probably end within an in-world year. Luffy learning all the haki basics in 2 years was considered really fast, and Rayleigh didn't even attempt to teach him any advanced haki. Give law a decade in the new world, and he'll be stronger than an admiral.
The third best in the Worst generation is Zoro and not Law. Zoro also has a high ceiling considering what Shanks did to Kid and his main rival being the guy Zoros chasing

Law and Kidd are strong compared to most of the New World pirates, but they don’t deserve to stand at the top. The majority of Worst Generation are still superior to a lot of pirates in the seas even though they are not at a high caliber. The reason as to why most of the group’s members are weaker than an elite commander of a Yonko crew is that they entered the New World as soon as possible rather than training for a few years before going. Some even pathetically cover under a Yonko’s thumb. Only Luffy, Zoro, Blackbeard and maybe Law (and Bonney depending on how her story will go) are the only ones who will shake up the New World and thus are the only ones who lives up to their name.
Is strength all there is in people's minds. Is being a strategist not part of it. I sweat power scaling has rotted people's brains and thus they need to shut up sometimes
They are garbage right now, But technically, given 20 years in the new world, they would have time to be pretty strong. It happened in a span of a year. Whereas Kaido is like 10+ years younger then Big Mom. But by the end of story, They probably won't amount to much.
After defeating Zoro Mihawk asked Luffy about his ambition. Luffy answered "Pirate king". Then Mihawk went on to say that that is even more difficult than defeating him. Sure, becoming the pirate king involves more than just defeating opponents. Still this sounds like he is admitting to not be the biggest deal, overall.
its simply bc pirate king needs more as strength, it needs atleast low top tier strength, a really strong crew, an fleet, arguably some territories, an really good ship, the 4 porneglyphs and sailing through the grandline while wss needs to have high top tier strength and swordskill to defeat mihawk.

This take is mid. Being a legendary pirate doesn't mean Being strong. Shiki most legendary feat is escaping impale down. Captain john for his treasure. Roger for finding the one piece. These things require strength but aren't what make them incredible.
The worst generation aren't just the supernoves. Almost the entire crew of Luffy are part of that generation. Even Coby is part of it I'd argue. There is something special about them as you can see that people of the old generation make a "bet" on them. Roger/Whitebeard - Ace, Shanks - Luffy, Mihawk - Zoro, Garp - Coby, Kuzan/Saul - Robin, Corazon - Law and so on. It's not just about pirates with that generation. This generation is worst because they are going to turn the world upside down and are the new dawn of the world. And they didn't even "blossom" yet, they are still in the early stages of their journey, as you can see that Shanks still calls them "saplings" after Wano.
i think law getting some basic arm coating and very strong observation haki would make sense. obeservation haki makes sense for his whole surgon thingy and i think hes motivated enouth to learn coating but i dont think he wil use haki that much.
I feel like the one thing i'd have to disagree with is probably the whole "if kid harmed shanks's innocent crew, people would stop viewing him as a good person" Because Kid never was a good person. The mans literally burns islands and kills those he fights against. I really don't see him as a good person. Do i like his devil fruit and like that we had an actual violent pirate instead of pirates that always were good/had a code? Yes because it was a nice way of showing that you need a code as a pirate and can't go out there killing willy nilly or you'll get taken out one day. All him harming shanks's innocent crew members would do is earn him a death on the spot so we wouldn't have time to dislike him/like him after that.
Why do people always forget Zoro is apart of the worst generation? If you take Luffy, BB AND ZORO out, then yea the generation is arguably terrible. Law being the only reliable one in the remaining few. Bit it's crazy how everytime the worst generation is mentioned, no one mentions Zoro.
People are drawing way to many conclusions about Kid from a single confrontation with Shanks, he is now wholly discarded as a shit pirate because he got one shot by Shanks when Luffy had literally the exact same thing happen to him at the beginning of Wano. This partly pro Shanks bias because everyone is excited to finally see him in action, and anti Kid bias because he was disappointing in Wano and everybody hates him now. The lack of self awareness in these anti Kid opinions is staggering, I believe Kid is sure to make a comeback similar to luffy's in Wano
I will say that outside of the other supernova, law has to be the second best, he has the prestige of being a warlord and the mastermind of the rocky port incident, Black beard is apart of the worst Gen but not the supernova
The potential for Law and Kid is still there, especially Kid hopefully he’s gonna get his redemption, maybe one of his purposes was to hype up Shanks but i severely doubt thats where it ends for him, doubt Oda would create a character with this potential to end lime this, I think if Oda wants this generation to live up to the Title of “The Worst” Kid is pivotal, Luffy and BB alone would not be enough to surpass the generation of Roger, WB, Rocks, Big Mom. Especially if you consider Blackbeard to technically be apart of Shank’s generation Think there’s potential for Bonney to, but her purpose could also be Simply Plot related

I think Hawkins actually as a character was good in Wano, the portrayal and potential was never there in comparison to Kid or even Law I would say Drake would have been a better person to bring up to prove a point, but even he doesn’t compare

I think that's too harsh. They can't all be Yonko level. That level is only reached by very few anyway. If every single one of them would become that strong then it would kind of marginalize the Yonkos and other legends. Having 1 Yonko level character, 2 characters that are close to that level and at least one 1 commander level character is already very impressive. And I would consider even the weakest of them to at least be low level Shichibukai level. I know you can't classify all Yonkos and Shichibukai as if they had the same level. But you get the idea. They are all plentely powerful. If you take Sanji into the mix than they have at least 2 Yonko Commander people in their group. 3 if you believe Killer is that strong too. 4 if you also put Jinbei into the mix. And I personally would put Sanji and Jinbei in their too because while officially not regarded supernovas, they are part of a crew of the worst generation. And one final thing you need to consider is, they are all still very young. It's not like any of them have reached their prime yet. So I personally think the worst generation is crazy strong and dangerous. Like many people like Aokiji and Shanks said, their growth rate is their most dangerous aspect. Kill them now or regret it later.

It was loud and clear from the very first meeting of bb and luffy that they will rival each other in the future ....why do we even need kid for that ? Becoming PK has many more outside variables other than simply becoming strong, which is the only constant when trying to surpass Mihawk in order to becoming the strongest swordsman. No one is dragging the legacy characters of OP, but a core underlying theme of OP is the old gen being surpassed by the new gen. Does it make sense for the Roger-WB gen to be so superior to the Shanks-Mihawk gen, only for the Luffy-Zoro gen to eclipse both? Does it make sense for 3>1>2? No. It’s 3>2>1. Aura also means nothing in the grand context, just a subjective concept used to downplay the likes of Mihawk Your Marineford point is also contextless. Mihawk wasn’t trying, but he wasn’t the only one who wasn’t trying. Neither Mihawk, Boa, Doffy or the Admirals (excl Akainu) were trying. And part of that is due to the instruction the fleet admiral Sengoku himself gave to them. Mihawk left the war after Shanks came, and you used that to say Mihawk bitched out of fighting Shanks, which he didn’t. Mihawks title isn’t strongest in a sword fight. It’s the strongest swordsman, meaning if there’s a swordsman, he is stronger than them. Since Shanks is a swordsman, Mihawk is stronger than him by proxy of his title. “Haki master” or hakiman or whatever doesn’t exist. Haki isn’t a standalone battle style or skill, it’s a force multiplier. Haki enhances already existing abilities. Armament Haki strengthens your attack/defence. Observation haki makes you aware but in terms of combat it’s used to perceive the opponents next move. So Shanks uses his haki to make himself a stronger swordsman, and by proxy of Mihawks title, Shanks’ swordsmanship enhanced by his haki is inferior to Mihawks swordsmanship enhanced by his haki, because Mihawk is the WSS, and Shanks is not

The worst generation was never hyped up as the next rocks generation, it was simply the worst generation of pirates of the last 20 odd years, since the start of the great pirate era (roger's death). And considering the best we've gotten from the other generations are cavendish and bartolomeo I do think as a whole they're probably the most threatening group of pirates to emerge at the same time.
They were and are the best ("worst"), most world stirring, most RECENT batch of Pirates in the last 5-10 years, give or take, to arise. The sheer number of them I think was the other catalyst around the hype. It wasn't like with Cavendish were he mainly had the spotlight with few competitors. They all had seeming promise therefore to become more. But many of them were sabaodied just like Luffy amd crew in the New World. And there they had no choice but to bow to Emperors or suffer or die, just like Luffy would have. The New World is the hardest place to cause genuine stirs because so much of it is occupied by the world's super powers already. Narratively we all would have liked the supernova to get fleshed out screen time and more hype before they ever were taken out, but it is what it is. Impel down level 6 is FULL of POWERFUL "silver medalists" whose only downfall were Emperor Level characters.
Law got better feats in Wano and Post Wano. All Zoro has is scarring but not actually damaging Kaido and Advanced Conquerors which is good, but he doesn’t get the same amp that Luffy did

I bet there are many pirates back in Rock's days, but we only know Roger and Rocks, in that sense, all the worst generations aren't supposed to shine. IMO, They are just there in the time of the journey of Strawhats Pirates to become the World's Famous Luffy D Monkey, The Pirate King
Supernova/worst generation was never Oda's idea to begin with. Majority of them are is just for fun and hype. Even if Oda didnt introduced them as Worst generation, these characters would have still appeared in this series but it would have been for very short period of time, doing the same thing they did as worst generation. But random unkown characters appearing randomly and doing random things has very less impact than people knowing there are these few high tier guys who haven't made any moves yet or this big shot is doing xyz thing in background while main characters are doing xyz. This makes people wonder and imagine lot more cause just few right words adds lot more depth in stories. Characters like, Uruge, apoo, bege, bonny, hawkins, drake are not so great without addressing them as Worst generation. They are like any other pirates crews doing piraty things. But when they have title as Worst generation, it adds lot of weight on the matters which they do.
Imagine not having zoro atleast in your top 5 eos Man thinks law is stronger than zoro Zoro would chop his ass up and laws df wouldnt even work on zoro Law only beat big mom because big mom was stupid af If kid and law teamed up against kaido Bruh that would be a massacre😂😂😂😂
