I had arthritis pain for 30 years. 5 years ago, I eliminated added sugars from my diet and the pain greatly diminished. 2 years ago, I eliminated grains from my diet and my pain disappeared. I am 73 and am on no medications.

I’m 74 and have experienced the same improvements. May I ask what your diet mainly consists of other than eliminating sugar and wheat? I still suffer from reflux, although it’s much better after giving up grains, and am wondering if there’s something else I can do.

@@Sparkling-Cyanide I intermittent fast (7 hour eating window) with nothing in 3 hours before sleep). My nutrient dense diet includes probiotics/prebiotics like plain whole milk kefir or yogurt (mixed with frozen blueberries or frozen mixed berries and pumpkin spice mix), bone broth (often as soup base with COSTCO mixed dried mushrooms, onion, garlic, turmeric with fresh ground black pepper, raw apple cider vinegar), VITAL PROTEINS collagen peptides (1 scoop in café au lait (organic coffee:grass fed whole milk 2:1), kombucha:seltzer 1:1. Raw walnuts or pecans, 1 or 2 oz of chocolate 85% cocoa, banana & avocado (for magnesium), grass fed ground beef, uncured/unsugared bacon, salmon, sardines, anchovies (not the salty ones that come on pizza, get the canned ones on Amazon), mixed cruciferous veggies (with Italian spice mix, olive oil, apple cider vinegar), seaweed snacks (Nori sheets available at Costco) for minerals, surprisingly tasty cod liver (available on Amazon), pasture raised eggs, raw cheese, grass fed butter. I often cook the ground beef or salmon in bacon grease with onions & garlic. My supplements include vitamin D3/K2 gel cap (available on Amazon), krill oil, CoQ10 as ubiquinol, unfortified nutritional yeast (B vitamins), and TRUNATURE lutein & zeaxanthin (Costco). [Some people with acid reflux have problems with cruciferous veggies]. The salty seaweed snacks go well with the sweet kombucha. Good luck.

In the US it was learned about 15+ yrs ago that glyphosate is an excellent desiccant (removes moisture) and thus farmers began spraying wheat and oats with it as a pre harvest practice. As a result and the consumption of glyphosate destroys gut bacteria and the lining in the intestines thus causing all of these autoimmune diseases.

Exercise 6 days a week.. Feel great, love life! I do no alcohol, no coffee, no processed foods, no legumes unless cooked in instant pot, no night shade, no sugar, no grain. I eat root veggies, fruit, berries, some nuts, goat product, pasture eggs, grass fed meat. I make everything from basic whole foods. This way, I know what I eat. I got 3 of his books about 10 years ago. The first one was Wheat Belly, I felt so much better following his advice to stop all grains. These grains today are manipulated. To this day I make my muffins from his recipes, almonds ground to flour is a great substitute for white flour. The flax seed makes a great bread. Your ice cream is delicious, some in fridge right now. Cheese cake with almond flour crust is delicious. My friends ask do I have any blueberry muffins baked when they visit. This flour does cost a lot more than other flours but it’s worth it. I buy the whole almonds and grind them myself that makes them less costly. Almond flour baked goods keep you full also. I use stevia and put about a quarter teaspoon of regular sugar in the batter that makes a dozen muffins. That little bit takes the after taste of stevia away. You really helped me with my many health problems, I speak of you often. Just got a copy of 30 minute Cookbook for a friend who likes to eat healthy. I changed to a plant based diet not long and along with your advice I feel even better. Doctors are not trying to get rid of our health problems, it’s a matter of making money, it’s sick care not health care.

Thank you for the valuable info. Some of rhe grains we get nowadays are indeed not the indigenous varieties & can be harmful. However, the phytates from healthy grains & beans/legumes can be eliminated by soaking them in water overnight, discarding the water & cooking them, thus rendering them a great source of nutrition.

Thank You Sirs for Your efforts to bring some light🔦 into the gut. When we are suffering - and maybe in pain - it is especially difficult to make long term decisions. We tend to want the short fix, the medicine, the sweet food and so on. Maybe what is lacking are shining examples that can mentor us regularly. Many of our parents or grandparents have their knowledge from TV advertisements 😮‍💨 Shopping refrigerated stuff was *popular* and a sign that you were wealthy enough to afford it, right? And many were happy to afford some bread 🍞 at least and maybe not even always that, the whole family going to bed hungry. So maybe this sheds some light on recent history, too.

Same with everything you say. I am 66 and use no pharmaceutical products - prescribed or over the counter for any reason whatsoever. I used to be morbidly obese according to two medical doctors. I used to have a fatty liver condition. I used to have pre-diabetic symptoms. I used to have edema - swelling in the feet and lower legs from excess fluids. That edema sometimes caused serious infections called cellulitis that would require hospital stays and intravenous antibiotics. I used to have COPD symptoms from decades of smoking. I used to have occasional high blood pressure and other chronic health problems for decades. All of these are gone. And they are gone because of intermittent fasting and eating high quality locally produced real foods. For just over two years, i have been eating just one good meal every day that i prepare myself. I avoid sugars, all highly processed junk 'foods' and excessive carbs - no breads, cereals, pastas, etc. I am healthier and stronger than i was 10 years ago. It is almost like aging in reverse! Barring any serious injuries, there is no need to see any medical doctors. I have no plans to see any in the foreseeable future.

It's called brainwashing for a buck
@advex4428
@advex4428 Год назад
The whole microbiome discussion is really valuable. The next step probably. But I would wish for a more nuanced discussion. Instead of declaring all grains bad, I think we need to realize that the goal should be to bring the digestive tract back to a state, where we can work with grains. Many world class athletes would laugh in someones face, if they said that e.g. oatmeal is bad for them. And many more would just not do that, because they are too respectful. Now, the follower of nutrition research might believe they would all be performing better without. That though just speaks of a lack of knowledge of competitive sports nutrition, because what athletes eat, is not determined by brainwashing through mainstream dietists, but by trial and error and the repeated victory of the food that works, via athletes who eat them. So, leave grains out to avoid problems with a compromised gut? Yes! Is leaving them out the end-all be-all of human nutrition? Nope.
@winniecash1654
@winniecash1654 Год назад
All you need is to experience my gut on grains to know grains aren't good for me. Whether it's gluten or glyphosate, they tear me up inside. I'm only talking about myself and some other people I know who have the same problem. I wouldn't know if this is true for everyone everywhere.
@advex4428
@advex4428 Год назад
@@winniecash1654 I agree. I just would wanna see the discussion on two different levels. 1.) People with problems, like you and myself. Then the advice to avoid grains with gluten is valuable. 2.) People without symptoms. Then it may be bad advice, depending on the personal situation. I like to talk about athletes for this. They know they perform better on grains, so it wouldn't be smart to avoid them, cutting off their income in case of pros. I just would like to see more discussion about getting back to tolerating all foods, like eg water fasting has gotten a bunch of foods back into my diet already, without problems now. And those that legitimately help people with problems by putting out information should be more aware, that having those problems is not normal, so they also would try to lead people back to complete health.

Grains play a great role in the Mediterranean diet, one of the best diets around scientifical proven, also according to Prof. Longo, Dr., Li , wholefood grains are an essential part of a healthy diet. Just look at the populations of millions of people around the world and it is clear that Davis is talking nonsense. ( people who are allergic to certain food does not mean the food is "bad" ) What makes people sick is refind mass-produced junk food.

In the west, carbs are about 60-70% of all food. The hypercommercialism of the west has increased carbohydrate consumption because it's cheap. It's not that it's bad for you, it's bad for you at the intensity that it's being consumed. That's exactly why the west has a problem with obesity and the Mediterranean doesnt.

The grains are not the grains our Grandparents ate. It’s processed and genetically modified to feed the world. The nutritions are also stripped out of it, preservatives added in, so it can sit on shelf for much longer. Plenty of sugar added too. The grains like that are glucose spikes. Some breads are better [less worse] than others. The healthiest bread is in the frozen section. Taste like cardboard at first…..but that’s the deal.

I have iron deficiency anemia and can't eat any grains, fruits, green leafy vegetables or starchy vegetables like potato, tea coffee, wine, chocolate, and nuts. All these foods have antinutrients that either destroy or remove iron. I eat carnivore and offal like liver 98% of the time but really struggle with eating out or with friends because everyone eats a grain or ultra processed based diet. If I go along with 'not wanting to cause a fuss' and eat what I'm given I suffer for the next few days with bloating, gas and stomach pains so I know that those foods are not meant for humans. Disgusted with the world trend of demonizing meat in terms of climate insanity.

So 20-year carnivores have endotoxemia? As do the Masai and Inuit? As well as the cavemen for 3.5 million years? I don't think so. The microbiome adjusts to the diet very fast - no one needs to adjust their diet to the microbiome, unless eating sub-optimally - grains, etc. And then, wouldn't it be smarter to adjust your diet? The plants that Akkermansia likes - every one of them - are filled with their own endotoxins. I'll bet the Masai and Inuit have minimal to no Akkermansia, and I bet Akkermansia is not in there eating up their gut wall. They certainly don't suffer from that long list of endotoxin caused chronic diseases. If you forced them to eat the plants that Akkermansia likes they'd probably all get sick. Focusing on the microbiome may be a fad; it's trying to game an unknowable and ever changing complex system. Wouldn't it be better to focus on diet macros and forget about managing molecules with an app and calculator minute by minute? Should be able to keep it simple if you get it right - nevertheless, L. Reuteri does sound like a plan. Might want 6475 over 17938. The real question is what's the optimal human diet that optimizes the microbiome?

I know ppl will never stop eat meat no matter how much pain, suffering, terror and fear the animals go through. They feel the same emotions that humans feel when they're scared, hopeless, except they can't speak the way we do, especially when we demand basic rights and so many others things from our fellow humans, including why there are not enough cures for the diseases caused by gluttony of eating.

Why is rice high in arsenic? Is it part of the genetic makeup of rice or a contaminant from spraying in cultivation
@buckmurdock2500
@buckmurdock2500 9 месяцев назад
there are two kinds of arsenic. Organic arsenic is naturally found in the earth's crust. Inorganic arsenic came from boll weevil pesticides and chicken droppings as chickens are fed arsenic. Rice soaks up arsenic like a sponge, one of the best crops to clean a field. Avoid buying rice grown in fields where they used to grow cotton or has runoff from chicken farms. If you have to get rice with high risk of inorganic arsenic, paraboil it instead of cooking by traditional methods.

Love Thy Neighbour, said a great one thousands of years back. We thought neighbour beside our house. He told, neighbor within us. He told the Farmer within us. He meant to Give to farmer within, so he wont become greedy & farm more than needed. Dont let His Dopamine whacky and keep it married to body hormones. Like one wife / for the need than want, principle. Cultivation is calculated growing. Farming is culturing within a Frame, making fuel / energy etc. So Neighbour is Farmer within, who should be loved (given) so he remain married to Need (body) than Want [mind]. Alas, only our Thoughts evolved (we think that even), to Produce than Educe.

simple rule for a beginning: never buy anything with an ingredients list of more than 2 positions. == minimally processed it is the design food that makes sick. And it is NOT designed for YOUR pleasure. For your pleasure, they use poison like fructose. Pasta italiana for instance has 1 ingredient. It is "grain", but a special one, and prepared into a proper form. ultra processed foods triggers a consumption of >50% of carbs by calorie intake per day. Most often >70%. it should be less than 30. If you want a bagel: make it your own. a brownie? make it your own. Pasta? completely okay, but make the sauce by yourself.
