This is like you steal someone's car and then you give it back a month later and then you said: "You'll never know what I've sacrificed"

Got a better line: "You did the right thing, Wanda... but they'll never forgive you for what you've done..." Kinda corny and bad, but it's a better message than "OH DON'T WORRY, SWEETIE, YOU'RE JUST DIFFERENT THAN ALL OF THEM"

"When you break the rules, you're the hero. When I do it, I'm the villain. That doesn't seem fair." Well YEAH! What Dr. Strange did was for the greater good but Wanda's motivations in Wandavision and Multiverse of Madness were 100% SELFISH.

She didn’t ‘sacrifice’ anything. If anything she was the one who forced others to sacrifice themselves for her messed up sitcom or whatever it was. They obviously tried to make her seem like a broken misunderstood soul but honestly, this made me dislike her to no end.

Seriously, the messaging here is sooo messed up. I’m glad you called it out. Wanda legit enslaved and traumatised a town full of people, including little children(the writers went out of their way to show she was traumatising a little girl). For all we know she gave them major PTSD, even the kids. But according to the writers she’s supposed to be the victim. In fact, she’s portrayed as a hero. She doesn’t even suffer any consequences for her actions, she just flys away from it. Absolutely bonkers.

Why can’t Wanda just be a villain or an anti-hero like Loki? We all love him for that because they never try to pretend like he’s anything other than what he is, but trying to sell this whole “Wanda’s a hero” narrative after what happened in Westview is seriously messed up and doesn’t make any logical sense.

In the show, Wanda is the villain. You probably didn't notice because she's the main character, that's the power of perspective.

And then goes on a killing spree trying to find her fake kids.

Thank god the MoM writer understood Wanda like all of us did. She is not a good person.

I appreciate that most viewers of the show recognize that despite the way the show wants you to root for/sympathize with Wanda, they see that what she did was wrong! The people of Westview have every right to fear/hate her for basically keeping them and their children captive for months! Edit: It has been brought to my attention that Wanda actually kept the people of Westview captive for a little over a week. My point still stands that what Wanda did was wrong and I sympathize with the people of Westview.

This line would have worked a lot better if she said it to Normal Osborn from Raimi universe

“They’ll never know what you sacrificed for them” These innocent people will however live with the traumatic experience of having themselves and their loved ones get abducted by Wanda, become brainwashed, lose any semblance of free will and be made to act and perform in a 50s to 90s sitcom style like a stringed up simulacrum. Truly Wanda is a hero.and can do no wrong because shes going through grief.

I feel like this dialogue wouldn’t be an issue if Wanda corrected her and said that she takes responsibility and she was in the wrong? Let’s not forget Monica just lost her mother and mentally she is trying her best to resonate with somebody who felt the same type of loss that she did so she’s not thinking straight like Hayward said. So the intention of the character I feel like it’s OK but in reality of the story someone should’ve corrected her behavior and told her it’s not OK what Wanda did

Unpopular opinion Wanda was the villain in that show

Amazing how a single line can simultaneously drag down both an entire TV miniseries that preceded it and the feature film that it set up.

Wanda's line after is really what cements how terrible this exchange is. She replies. "It wont change how they feel about me" Which implies she feels she made a sacrifice for them and she never really owns up to what she did and how horrific it was. If she had said "It wont change what I did to them". It still paints her as the villain but it would imply she knows what she did was horrific and that she has to atone for that. Honestly Rambeau's character was really odd, her care for Wanda, someone shes never met and the villanizing of the general, who is quite literally just doing his job, trying to save trapped people. They had to have him literally try and kill kids at the end so people would feel...Yea this is the bad guy. But really, despite being a bit headstrong, everything he did was to try and protect people. EDIT: Some people have fairly pointed out the generals character was always an asshole and did some bad things regardless. That's fair, it had been a hot minute since I watched the series. But I felt like they had to portray him as evil, since if his only motivation was anti Wanda it wouldn't have properly painted him as the villain given Wanda's actions are quite despicable.

Your missing the point my guy. It's okay to kidnap a town and traumatize everybody in it as long as your "sad".

This isn't the worst line on television. They outdid themselves a few months later with: "Do better"

That’s like saying to a kidnapper who locked someone in a box for a month “they’ll never know what you sacrificed for them” for simply letting them free. Even though this is way way way worse than that it’s horrible what Wanda did.

She practically enslaved all of these people to be unwilling participants in her dark twisted sitcom but somehow she still comes out of the show as a good guy, that’s totally not a morally reprehensible and concerning message to be sending to your audience Marvel 😀

People are seriously defending her? She kidnapped an entire town of people and brainwashed and tortured them. It doesn't matter for how long or why she did it, it's still wrong. Wanda had no right hurting those innocent people. They aren't aren't reason Peitro and Vision are dead, so why did they have to suffer. Even if she didn't know at first, she found out eventually and still didn't do anything about it. She only did something when Agatha threatened her perfect family.

DOCTOR STRANGE SPOILERS It become even more hilarious when you know that after this she kills an alternate version of her mother

MCU writers have completely fumbled her since Endgame. One moment she's getting revenge fighting Thanos and sharing her pain with Hawkeye but showing acceptance at the end of Endgame. Fast forward to Wandavision and she's completely traumatized and in grief, at the start of the show, but by the end she has accepted her fate...even though the execution is terrible. Then we go to Multiverse of Madness, and she's full blown evil, beyond redemption, godly and willing to kill a ton of people so she can be with her fake kids, and of course, Vision means absolutely nothing at this point.

Hydra mind controlling Bucky: HYDRA BAD Wanda mind controlling civilians: CIVILIANS BAD. WANDA GOOD.

Wanda is literally Starlight Glimmer. Enslaves an entire town of innocents and characters in the universe still try to redeem/justify her.

yeah this was really weird. This series was really weird. It felt like they were going in one direction, they had shot the scenes, and then someone at Marvel decided, "hey we don't want Wanda being the bad guy. Let's add something to make the audience realise that she's actually the good guy in this story."

Such a brave and noble sacrifice! You know what would have been truly great. If Wanda actually got called out for everything she did and faced actually consequences.

They certainly succeeded in making us feel empathetic for Wanda throughout the show but I wish they acknowledged the moral repercussions of her actions too. I'm hoping this happens in Dr. Strange MOM coz that'd be really satisfying to see.

Someone needs to show Wanda that amendment which outlaws slavery. Any other character who enslaved over 2000 people for a whole week would be put in jail or dead by the story's end. It's disgusting how they let Wanda get away with it scot-free and they portray her as a hero to boot.

Coming from a wanda stan, she was the fucking antagonist in this series. She lost her parents, brother, and vision that’s for sure, but that doesn’t justify her from enslaving the entire town. I was kinda waiting for some kind of redemption arc in the MoM, but it turned out to be wanda being a total psychopath.

They handled Wanda’s story so bad. I feel for her losing her parents and twin brother and Vision. But that still doesn’t excuse enslaving a whole town. She deserved real punishment or at least atoning for what she did or maybe beginning to heal from her trauma. But instead is just like “oopsie I made a mistake” and then goes FULL VILLAIN MODE? We’ve all lost people, especially these Marvel heroes. But that doesn’t give you a pass to do whatever shitty things you want. I love Wanda so much (at least the Wanda from Endgame and earlier) but they did not do her story justice.

Seriously they should've just made Wanda the villain in the end then make Vision the hero, they'll be compelled to fight each other even if they don't want to, making the ending more dramatic, instead of introducing a power rangers villain who has no place in the story

MCU Wanda has been fucked up since her first appearance, since Age of Ultron. And, she's only gotten worse. She would be a better character if they just made her and kept her as a villain. Because all the trying they did with WandaVision and even MoM to make her out to be some victim or to get sympathy just made me dislike the character more.

When the people you've victimized say things like "Please just let me hold my daughter, I'll do anything", and "If you won't free us, then let us die!", don't expect them to feel bad for you or be understanding, because you were depressed and had a breakdown.

This line suited more on peter after No Way Home and he is probably the most tragic MCU character now.

It's incredible how this show was legit amazing until the last couple episodes desperately tried to justify everything Wanda did.

What I disliked about this series Was the ending, I think at some point they realised that what Wanda did couldnt be justified so they brought another villian she can fight so she looks like a hero. Well it just made the Show look stupid

I'm pretty sure that Monika said that to try and calm her down. We already know what Wanda can do when she's distraught.

Like literally the show was SO GOOD at making Wanda complex in her villainy. We understood why she did what she did but Vision made it clear that it still wasn't okay. As much as I loved the song "Agitha all along" it derails EVERYTHING in the show had going. Complex emotions: NOPE! it was Agitha. Wanda realizes she a villain: NOPE! it was Agitha. Then big Marvel cgi battle so we clearly know whose "good" and whose "bad". I feel like someone stepped in and said "This is too deep and complicated, change the last half to something digestible by children"

I feel like if she had said, "I know, but it won't change what I did", this would've turned out better. It would have shown that Wanda has realized what she did was pretty messed up, and that she plans to try and atone for her horrible actions involving Westview. Amazing how one line can change an entire moment in the show!

I mean, she "sacrificed" an imaginary family that she never really had, so she essentially sacrificed nothing and the people she enslaved were pretty real.

Is it weird that they're trying to make Wanda out to be a hero still? Yes. Does that mean we as the audience have to see her as a hero? No. Can we still see her as a villain and like her character? Yes.

Marvels writting overall is horrible... In all the movies, every seriously emotional moments are always closely followed by a bad joke. This line does deserve the title you've given. What the hell has she sacrificed? Her fake family are nothing but contructs of her ability and therefore can't be something that she sacrifices. She can just go somewhere else where there are no people around and bring them back.
