Believe it or not, Muggsy could get up that high but he had such small hands that he couldn't palm a basketball, it would just fly out of his hand when he went up. He could actually dunk a volleyball in his prime.

In all honesty though I think 2003 was even worse because Peja was having a sloppy final round and was going to lose and then they sounded the buzzer off halfway through his round which caused Peja to totally stop, and then once he realized the buzzer was a mistake, he really unraveled, and the ballboys even lost control of the loose balls. It was so bad that they decided to wipe away Peja's entire round and let him redo it. They gave him a redo! A REDO! How is that not the worst in history when they have to give a guy a redo?!? And of course on the redo, Peja lit the net on fire and shattered, I think it was Wesley Person's, dream of taking home the trophy. I haven't watched it in 15 years but I remember at the time thinking it was the sloppiest thing I'd ever seen in my life

Your memory is pretty on point, though I'll add one little tidbit. The round in question was a tie-breaker between Stojakovic and Person. The two also engaged in a tie-breaker the year prior (2002). In that previous shootout (and all contests prior), tie-breaker rounds were 24-second quick-hitters. As such, when the tie-breaker moved to a full one-minute round in 2003, apparently no one bothered to notify the scorer's table because the horn sounded after 24 seconds, which led to Stojakovic's aforementioned unraveling. Considering the circumstances, I thought letting him re-do his round was sort of fair on account of their own error. He was cruising before he thought his round was over.

Basically was the shooting stars event. Always had a current player, a 'legend', and a WNBA player representing a city. Ironically it seemed like the WNBA Player would always be the one to eventually get the half court shot make anyways.

Even though you " couldn't shoot 3s" So idk it would seem tougher to do that if you took less 3s.. And remember it's a completely different era where coaches didn't allow the players the freedom to do whatever they want and chuck up as many shots as you want. Y'all actually had to play for a system. Focused on things on than three point shots. Like defense. Not your own stats.
