For those of us that suffer through the long dreary months of winter, this can most certainly be a problem. But fear not, this video has some ideas for a cure!
It's funny how it can be too cold to work outside, but never too cold to play! Now for a new project you can cobble together a Zamboni to smooth the ice on the pond. Time to get to work! 😁
I saw a guy make a zamboni with a piece of carpet attached to a storage container with holes one one side and he put hot water in it and drug it around the ice. Worked pretty good.
Looks like fun! I've never ridden a snow mobile. When I was a kid - I always thought they looked fun, and we seemed to have snow here in NW PA from about Thanksgiving until Easter. But now, we just don't get and keep the snow like we used to. I haven't been able to justify the purchase of even an older used one. Looks like you've got two stylish ones now! Like you, I'm a child of the 70s and love those stripes (and the old Broncos!). Great job Neil and family. Enjoyed the Sunday video.
OMG!!! My two boys grew up on 250 Enticers, we had two black ones, bought them new. When I sold them once they outgrew them, I literally cried when I saw the new owner drive away with them. 40 years later we still snowmobile together. Those little suckers would wind up to 70 mph on hard packed roads. Wish I would have saved them for the grandkids.
Nothing like the smell and sound of those snowmobiles, especially with the first ride of the season. I completely forgot about the Kiddie Cat. We had one for the kids way back when. And finally, HOCKEY! That alone makes the pond worth the effort. (for me) Another pleasant Sunday morning. As always, thanks again. See ya on the next one.
Wow what great memories! The pond is worth its weight in gold! And I’m 56 so I share that feeling about the 70’s stuff! Those girls are going to grow up to realize they had a great childhood and the best parents!❤😊
Awesome job dad! You can hear the stoke in his voice when asking the girls if the sleds are fast enough. Great content and vid wishing the Koch tribe a fantastic 2024.🎉🎉🎉
I absolutely agree with you…..we lived in MN for several years before moving back south to NC….and I hear so many people say they don’t want snow. I love it….I love the “chaos” as you mentioned…it feels adventurous…..brings back that exciting childhood feeling of “are they gonna cancel school tomorrow?”
Great video Neil. Made me think back in the early 70,s after we got the chores done we would head out to the pond and go ice skating playing freeze tag.
Remember the neighbors blue 250 Enticer in the early eighties. If I was lucky I’d get an invite to go along for an hour or two. Makes me smile to see the girls creating these memories that they’ll have the rest of their lives. You’re a great dad, Neil! 😊
Their eyes when they walked in the garage and saw *two* snowmobiles... Priceless!!! Now you need to rig up one of the small tractors for your own Zamboni for the pond!!!
Great memories! I'm sure the girls would be thrilled if you cut a hole in the pond and pumped up a fresh layer of water to give that skating surface a shiny new finish! 🙂
It’s so nice to see kids appreciate something given to them. They lit up like it was a brand new sled! Keep doing what you are doing, you are raising a good family!
Neil we had snowmobiles as kids, an old Moto-Ski and a Starcraft we had them for 4 years, then our dad got a chance to buy two 1972 Rupp American 440`s, from a buddy of his who bought them brand new for his place up North, They sat there for 2 years, he hardly used them, all my dad had to do was go up there and get them, they made some payment plan, so we did a weekend road trip, it was a 4 hour drive to northern Michigan, we brought them home, cleaned them up, got them running with new gasoline and plugs, and we had two of the nicest snowmobiles on the block, they were fast, I think 40 mph, that was fast back then, we snowmobiled every weekend in the winter. I will never forget that the rest of my life, we loved it, your girls are having a riot, that red Enticer looks brand new, good times.
Love this... brought back memories of my father building me an ice rink in my backyard as a child... Nah, a little drag racing never hurt... 😊😊😊 You should rig a contraption to spray water out of one of your spreaders to make a zamboni... I'll wait for that project... 😂😂😂
I was able to ride a snowmobile for the first time the day after Christmas. We went to Colorado for vacation we had seen an advertisement and decided to give it a shot. Not much snow here in Texas so I never had the opportunity before. It was fun even for an old guy!
Dad of the Year! It's the best when you surprise your kids like that. Thanks for sharing your interests and adventures. I enjoy you sharing your life and showing how a man, husband, and father makes a positive difference in his family, community and world. I can't wait to see your future 3pt Zamboni build for the ice skating rink!
Brought back memories of me racing around on a 70s era Arctic Cat Panther with my cousins growing up in MN in the 90s. Those Yamahas look like a lot of fun, thanks so much!
The reaction when they saw tbe snowmobiles made me cry. What a fantastic dad. God bless you and your family. Also cant be easy making content for us fans so we do appreciate how ever long the video is. Either way what a heart warming video
As a kid of the 80’s this definitely brought back some memories although for us it was old 250 Honda 3 wheelers and 4 wheelers. These memories will last with your kids forever. Great video Neil.
Family time rules sir, really enjoy your channel. Never enough of your videos Neil, beautiful family and great channel. You are truly blessed as well as we are for you sharing. ❤
that's a father right there! got them sleds and made lasting memories. they wont remember the sleds they will remember you and everything you did for them. My dad used all the snow in the yard to build me a jump and told me to hit it harder and faster. i was 12 on a z440. he scooped up any remaining snow with a shovel and added it to the jump. i think i was more stoke for his reaction when i went 2 ft in the air more than anything. those are the memories. I'm 30 now..
What fun Neil; memories to last a lifetime with your kids. Regarding your pond, somewhere on YT I’ve seen a video where a propane weed torch was used on a skating pond in place of a ice-maintenance Zamboni. Wishing you and your family a blessed winter filled with seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together. Peace brother.
Awe creating wonderful memories ❤ I grew up with snowmobiles and ice skates here in West Michigan. My dad taught us at a young age as well. We would race on the “stretch” we called it, next to the Grand River. But the “room to ride” here is disappearing 😢. Enjoy making those memories ❤️
Neil, great video as always. I’m going to be a first time Dad in September. I can only aspire to be as great of a Dad as you you are! Great job all around!
My heart smiled from the time the skates went on until the garage door closed in the end. Happy kids and memories are the best! BYW- you should absolutely teach them to drag race!!!!
Thanks Neil. It's great to see you guys out playing in the snow. We don't seem to get as much snow in NJ as we used to, and it seems that all I get to do is shovel it when it comes. I'm not sure which girl said it but "I'll take the faster one" just cracked me right up!
All smiles here ❤️. I have a daughter and back when she was little I found an old snow machine so she could experience what I did when I was young. Many times I would borrow my neighbours and we would go for rides through the trails. Making memories. 👍
Awesome Niel! Like you I have wonderful memories of big snow, no school and thousands of miles on our Yamaha 433C wide track . One machine 4 boys so we all had to learn how to either ski, ride a saucer, Toboggan, sled, or what other contraption young boys can come up with🥴 . they will remember these for forever. Heck I even met my wife for the first time because of one of those big snowstorms. Take care my friend
@@digdrivediy 🤣 Girls? No not like that I met her on a rescue mission I don’t know if you have any experience with that model Snowmobile, but it was almost unsteerable about half the time the rest of the story sometime when we’re together, take care of my friend
As a fellow Hoosier, I can totally relate. Thank you for sharing such wholesome content. As a parent of two young children, I can completely relate to their disbelief and joy with two snowmobiles. Not too many things get better than that!
Awesome seeing the kids light up with joy on those sleds! when i was young my Grandfather had a bunch of snowmobiles and would trailer them somewhere for the whole family to meet up and ride, it wasn't till later in life did i realize he didn't have them because he wanted to ride but had them to make memories for all of us kids. Man i miss him, anyway , thanks for sharing the memories your making for your family, Well done sir!
Those fords are exactly what I was thinking of and you said it. 😂 those entices are irreplaceable and irresistible. 💪 thank you guys for another awesome and unique video!
This brings back great memories with my brothers and sis. Our dad ensured we always had dirt bikes for summer and snowmobiles for winter adventures. He lived a full and rich life and passed in 2020.
Ugh I legit had the biggest smile on my face when you showed the girls the snow mobiles and they were happy and grateful. Great job mom and dad you’ve raised wonderful kids! So wholesome 🙏🏼🙌🏼
This video was such a joy to watch. Seeing a family having such good wholesome fun really warmed my heart, and brought back fond memories of my own childhood from 60 years ago. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Nice to see the shock on your daughter's faces! The time spent snowmobiling and ice skating, among other things, are memories that will stay with them a lifetime.
You’re such a dad, Neil! You were as excited about providing the two snow machines for your daughters as they were receiving them. Subscribed last year for the pond build, stayed for the family dynamics. Best part of your channel !
Old snowmobiles are personal favorite of mine. My old man started me on an Artic cat tripple . Never forget the look on my moms face as an 8 year old when he put me on the seat and walked into the house to watch some football. 😂 That amount of trust from the old man on a 100mph sled was wild to me.
This is the most wholesome video I've seen all year! Love it! What a cool dad to let his kids ride snowmobiles!!!! I would have done ANYTHING to do this when I was a kid!!!
gsmith .new at this ,never commented before.. just wanted to say that i do watch your u tube channel and enjoy your presentations..very nice family, you should be very proud..i have twin boys as our first children also,,kinda know it was a handful in the beginning,, they are almost your age now..great job Neil, look forward to more of your shows.
Memories you all making as a family are so special try to video record them because before you know it your kids be all grown up. I think every day are special with the family and friends.
Hey there! Just watched your wonderful winter fun video with the family, and it sure brought back a heap of fond memories! It's heartwarming to see your family enjoying the simple joys of ice skating and snowmobiling together. Reminds me of my own childhood winters in the Midwest. Those twin snowmobiles were a fantastic surprise for your girls - their smiles said it all! Curious, do you folks have any other winter traditions or favorite activities? Keep up the great work with these videos, they're like a warm cup of cocoa on a cold day. Looking forward to your next adventure! Stay warm and keep having fun!
Thanks so much! The girls love skiing so we hope to get up to Michigan to ski again this winter. They really like being pulled on saucer sleds too but we didn't get to it yet this year. Thanks for watching!
Brings back fond memories of growing up in northern Illinois. Pick up hockey games on the lake, snowmobiling through town when the roads weren’t plowed, skitching bumpers on cars and growing up to Wisconsin to ski. Only good things about a Midwest winter.
Heck yeah, you should be teaching them to drag race! It’s obvious you have also taught them discipline. Will never forget the ragged out, souped up Banshee we got when I was 10. Had to sit on the gas tank to try and keep the front wheels on the ground when taking off. Still remember the surprise too. Awesome job, dad!
Love the wholesome videos, of your projects and the whole family pitching in. Great job of parenting. Hint from Canada, if you flood the pond a little bit , it will smooth out the ice. Cheers keep them coming
They were both so excited walking in and seeing one for each of them! And pretty amazing girls for shoveling the pond several times to finally get to skate! Thanks for sharing your new memories with all of us.
Hello Neil, I came across your U tube channel completely by accident but I have found all of your video's fascinating and I am now finally up to date having watched them all. It is amazing to see how different life is for you and your lovely family living where you do with temperatures outside lower than inside my freezer here in the UK!! It is also amazing how adaptable your girls are, dipping oil in your machinery and driving tractors at their age!! some children in the UK are incapable of sharpening a pencil at their age all credit to you and your wife / family for the comprehensive upbringing that your twins are receiving. Long may the video's continue it's really amazing to follow you and your family life through the seasons, it must be lovely being part of such a nice community with neighbours that you can rely on if you need assistance. Best possible regards David.
Thanks so much David. I'm glad to have you watching and appreciate all the kind words. We're just trying our best and enjoying life with family close by and I'm grateful for the people that follow along.
Good call on keeping them out of that mesh in the new grass. I can only imagine the mess that would make in the track/idlers/drive sprockets. Keep on making memories!
You are winning. You also are an inspiration because i feel happy when someone who breaks his back can enjoy life like this, and this keeps me pushing uphill ✌🏼
Neil Ross strikes again! Awesome content. These videos are something your family will be able to look back on and know you’re great parents, they had a good upbringing, and this is the American dream.
