Every time I meet someone new and they ask me where I'm from and I tell them, the first thing they say is "kool runnings mon", "bob marley mon", "Weed mon" and I just look at them like, "a weh di bomboclaat mi a deal wid man". I'm not Jamaican but everyone thinks when u use certain terms or words ur tryna be "Jamaican" like no I'm from the Caribbean. All Caribbean people use similar words and terms also I live in Toronto where everyone uses the slang that orignates from the black culture. But also people need to know that there are other islands then "Jamacia". that video is actually offensive to anyone that comes from a Caribbean background.

My dad and his entire family were born and raised in Jamaica, and I've grown up around listening to Patois especially when my uncle or aunt calls my dad and not even I would dare try to replicate a "Jamaican accent" that girl's video was truly offensive and pitiful... Actually this is really funny I was just in Jamaica last week. This Jamaican lady went up to this American Indian guy and did an indian accent and he was like I'm from Houston. Legit tears were formed lol. I was like yooo that was offensive as hell. But hilarious to watch!

i 100% agree with what you're saying. However, how is this different from a certain individual learning to speak a new language. For example, if a white man wanted to learn to speak Chinese or Spanish, does he need approval from a Chinese person or a Spanish person in order to speak their language? I think most can agree that Patois is different from the English language. This kind of goes in hand with a comment I saw on your Game video rant about just wanting to learn and appreciate a new culture. But in regards to this video, yea she's all types of bad. I think in order to teach a new language you definitely need approval from someone native to that language.
Pretty sure jamaicans can understand american english or UK english just fine, so i'd venture to say that it's plain unnecessary for somebody foreign to jamaica to try to speak patois if they already speak english. If you happen to sub-consciously pick up patois after being exposed to it for a period of time, fantastic. But to try to force it is unneeded and might come across as rude depending on who you're talking to. As for talking in complete different languages, the situation is a bit different because it's a lot less unnecessary. If you're a native english speaker who's bad at speaking spanish, and tries to speak spanish to a native spanish speaker who knows english, it's more practice than it is being obnoxious in my opinion.
