Pop culture is kinda using the wrong scythe as a weapon. There is a thing called a war scythe, which is like a farming scythe, but the blade has been changed to be in line with the shaft, basically making it more like a slashing spear with a long blade. Although Death carrying around a farming scythe just for the looks would fit the whole reaper of life thing.

The idea of a creature that only understands alphabet languages is actually kinda cool. It wouldn’t be able to understand any language without a writing system obviously, but it would also not be able to understand any: abjads, abugidas, etc So like if you spoke arabic around this thing it would be fucked

Zues the Goose is actually in a really interesting design space because of the "takes 2x damage from fire". It's interesting because it isn't vulnerable to fire, but has the same effect as vulnerability. I don't think there are any official features that interact with this, but another bit of homebrew might. (I.e. a subclass feature that lets you give vulnerabilities to a creature would allow you to make Zues take 4x fire damage)

The water bubble gave me an idea for an ooze that can inflate itself to fly. A ballooze if you will

The alphabet had some good nuggets. It doesn't speak languages that don't have written forms (and perhaps could be powerless against such peoples, making a particular tribe extremely strong against it), and locking a character out of sentences containing certain letters could be interesting. (If the DM wants to be mean, ban the letter E to cripple communications.) I think it would be neat to see a monster that attacks you with whatever dice you rolled in your last turn. Someone'll have fun trying to game that.

Scythes were actually used as a weapon pretty efficiently by peasant militias in Poland, when fighting the Russians, during uprisings. They were used to great effect during suprise attacks. The thing is their blades were put up, like pikes, and could also be used like them, but they were still usefull as cutting weapons (could cut a person in half with a good attack.

I enjoy Jacob's homebrew reaction vids, but I liked this more positive take too. Maybe you could do another handful of videos in this format trying to find hidden gem homebrews on D&D Beyond? There's a lot of stuff that is well written/thought-out on there that doesn't get any attention due to having unique names or one-off creators. I've added tons of '+1-10' upvoted entries for my campaigns and think having a creator spotlight that underappreciated range would be nice, instead of the "tops" and "bottoms" of the list.

Alphabet comes from alpha beta, and is the equivalent of calling out alphabet the ABC’s, as alpha and beta are the first two letters of the Greek alphabet.

you know you're off to a good start when the first one has an attack that doesn't list its to hit bonus and deals "explosion" damage on hit, whatever that is. Unlike the typical "ice damage" or "magic damage" where you can guess what they really meant I'm just not sure what explosion damage is meant to be because it's _separate from fire_

OK, something hilarious about "Zues the Goose." The way you're forced to pronounce it, "Zu Ess", is essntially the inversion of how Zeus should be pronounced, ie "Zeh Uss" and not "Zoos". And its Egg attack isn't that strong as it only hits objects. Well, unless that object is the bridge you're standing on.
