There’s so many beaches to explore in Baja and Southern Baja California. I’ve driven by many of them but I’d like to stop at each one for a day or two. 😎
There are so many! I am jealous of all of the people in camper vans who are camping at each of the beautiful little beaches along the way! I think that would be an amazing way to explore Baja.

In 1998, we took a rented Geo Tracker from San Jose up the east side, and boy what a road ! Half way up, the tailgate lost a bolt due to the extreme washboard. So I drew the short straw, and got to sit in the back holding it in place. yippee. It was so funny how it went from ugly to new pavement in a heartbeat. The views were awesome though. this is by far the best beach around SJDC....we have always called it Buzzards (after the bar's name) or Playa de La Laguna after the neighborhood. I had no idea it had another name! generally that beach is swimmable and easy to access the water, you caught it on a windy day! I hope you try it again and stay for a while, get some food to go from Buzzards and sit for a while or swim!
Just as an aside, I have ridden a mountain bike from San Jose del Cabo to Los Barriles (and west, then, to Todos Santos, and closing the loop back to Los Cabos.) If one is self-contained or has a support vehicle, it's a GREAT ride. While I haven't done it, I also have what is known as an "Adventure Motorcycle" and have done numerous off-road trips on it. This road would be easy and perfect for such a motorcycle.
A fish taco at the drunken sailor changed my life...well how I order and make my own anyway. Grilled fish with a mango slaw and cilantro sauce. YUM. Fact is I made them at home a couple on nights ago. I used to hang out there after fishing in the panga. Hope you get some snorkeling in Pulmo. No bad days.
Awesome! Just last week we drove from Cabo Pulmo to San Jose in the eastern cape road. It was very OK. We were in a small rental car and all went fine. Views were stunning. You can do it. It was not bad.
I finally get to come home to Cabo with my wife next month. It's been a year and a half since I've been there. I get to meet one of her daughters I haven't met in person yet! Maybe we will see each other in San Jose and have Tacos and Drinks.
Thanks for all your videos! We've been going to cabo for 18 years now. Have visited Todo Santos but will be going to Cabo Pulmo for 3 days in June for the 1st time before heading to Cabo for 2 weeks. Hope to hear more about places to eat in Pulmo, the beach, and any other info you can share. Thanks again!
Great information! I plan to do some scuba diving around Cabo Pulmo this winter, along with some explorations of BCS. The east cape road was a mystery to me until saw your video. I love Baja. It's an amazing place. Thanks so much for all of your great vids!
We drove that road and stopped at the Tropic of Cancer monument last Friday. But we were on the way to La Paz. We will go to Cabo Pulmo next time. Thanks!

I'm renting a house near CP next month and the owner had offered two sets of directions there from San Jose via dirt roads -- the East Cape road or a road straight across the interior. I didn't like the sound of either and kept inspecting the two on Google Earth to see which looked less hair-raising. After seeing your video of the Worst Road, I was like 'The heck with all that nightmare -- I'll spend an extra hour and take the paved road!" I'm renting an SUV but am a woman and will be traveling alone, and I've never changed a tire in my life. Why stress out? Also, thanks for your guidebook to Baja, which I bought.
Well kid, having lived in la Paz for a while i am SOOOO ready to go back. The area between cabo and la paz is very nice; north from la paz is also quite decent. i plan to re- retire in a couple years, and i will send you guys links & such for the places i really liked. some are good others are just GREAT. will send you those. I am loving your videos, I was in Baja sur one time, and visited many of the places you show. You never mention the time of year/season. For me, curious to know. Busier or quiet times, weather etc?
Thanks Laura. Useful info on drive from SJ del Cabo. Did you notice any dive shops in Cabo Pulmo? I've dove the Sea of Cortez (Loreto) way vack when but heard there is diving at CP. BTW since I did my travelling in Baja 25 years ago, we've geard it is not so safe anymore (bandits, cartel activity). You seem not to notice or care. We go to Huatulco these days.
There were tons of dive shops - in fact most of the places are actually dive shops that also just happen to run snorkeling tours. Huatulco is a lovely area too! As for danger, it's not really my place or expertise to comment on. I feel very safe here.
When i was here the food was great. I had the Aguachilles Negro and it was killer By chance did you ask him the kind of sauce that was at 2:50 I loved it. Thanks Jimbo
I didn't ask, but I've found it in a few different seafood spots around San Jose - it seems to be a combination of dried chiles and soy sauce (or more likely Maggi Jugo sauce).

Hi there! Thanks for the informative video. C Do you have any advise or comment about 3rd party liability insurance when renting from Cactus? We had heard there is an issue with fees at some of the car rental places at the airport. Any info would be helpful!
I've always heard Mex Rent a Car is the best in La Paz - I haven't rented from La Paz before, just here in Los Cabos, so I'm not sure exactly how much it costs. Hope that helps a little bit!

We always use Cactus Rent a Car here in Cabo. Price is as advertised - $55 per day for the size that we rented, I believe the smallest cars are $35 per day.
