It's a fantastic sign for the meta that it's actually difficult to pick a "worst" weapon, and that half the time you're basically saying "It's actually not that bad, but I still gotta pick a worst".
The poor Neo Sploosh is pretty much just devoted to that one turf war cheese strategy where you sneak into the enemy team's base to paint it, and even that strat is highly volatile and inconsistent
that strategy is how I managed to win 2 100x battles in a span of 3 splatfest battles. and I'm pretty sure one of them was against a youtuber. easily the greatest achievement of my splatoon career, and all with me using freakin neo sploosh
It's a strategy that's almost guaranteed to lose, too, since it invariably gives the other team the entire map to play with while your team ends up locked as far back as possible.
Carbon is in a very unique state in that there will never be a kit that is worth picking if it doesn’t have burst bomb. I don’t think there’s another weapon out there that is so dependent on a singular kit variation, which I feel like is slightly problematic. The devs should find a way for other carbon rollers to succeed.
Yeah any weapon shouldn't just depend on a good sub just to be good, they should be good on their own with the kits helping boost their weak/strong points
As a Hydra main, i feel pretty happy with the weapon right now. It has a solid kit and its niche of highest DPS main weapon in the game can have its uses.
The thing I dislike about Painbrush is that you have virtually 0 chasing potential. You have Curling but its so expensive youll hardly be using it and the end lag of the swings are brutal to even just chase people. Its sad because a Brush with Wave feels surprisingly good.
I will reply to myself; I'm VERY surprised Chara picked a Nova as worst long range shooter when vH3 is in the game, but to be fair all three of those are bottom 3.
It’s a frustrating weapon because it’s fun to use and it’s easy to see the potential as a sort of hybrid midliner/frontliner but the start up lag is brutal. If they sped that up by even a few frames it could be the best brush in the game, but as is it’s only useful on a handful of SZ and CB stages.
immediately before clicking on this video i guessed half the weapons correctly, but hydra being the worst really caught me off guard, it's crazy how good splatlings are right now and it's actually good for the game for once edit, Apr 2024: man.
It's solely a result of the meta gameplay shifting. It used to be arguably the best splatling on launch in a meta where moving was rare and crab was everywhere. Now we’re in a more mobile Tacticooler-based environment where faster splatlings get lots of help, while Hydra doesn't get as much and can have its weaknesses really show. Still a solid weapon and can work on certain map mode combos, just not often.
@@Kowie_geg As a Hydra main, I can confidently say that isn't the case and Autobomb is actually fairly decent for it. It allows you to put pressure on other long range weapons (especially Chargers with a scope), is cheap Rainmaker shield damage, and its delayed explosion when chasing an enemy lines up better with its own long charge time for more simultaneous coverage. Obviously there are potential better subs out there, but the kit as a whole is solid and for the first few months of the game it was enough to earn it the title of being either the best or 2nd best Splatling before Ballpoint jumped ahead with the Inkjet buffs.
As much as I love the vanilla Dapple Dualies, they've been slowly slipping in my usage the past season. This season with the Heavy Edit was the nail in the coffin for my Dapple Dualies usage. I love the Heavy Edit. VDDs are still pretty solid in Clams though.
I played Nova in a random lobby turf war a while back. My team wasn't good at guessing positioning and kept getting sharked or flanked. I needed point sensor to alert the team, but all the point sensor weapons have slow fire rate, or have to be charged which made it hard for me to push(everyone else was afraid to go forward.) Nova is the only Sensor weapon that has a consistent fire rate, so in that specific scenario it was the right pick. I agree it's low tier, but there is a theoretical team that can't sacrifice any push and needs Sensor to scout. I can't think of anything Neo Sploosh is useful for.
I kind of like using the Splattershot Nova because it’s easier to spam point sensors than the other weapons with point sensor. And it’s almost like constantly having echolocater being used.😅
I've been experimenting with reef lately, and with a few subs of ia it seems pretty good, I think it can be viable if it wasn't so reliable on missiles and had a better sub Something like Tubers kit would have worked really well with it
I loved playing Painbrush when it came out, but right now it's really diffcult to play it even with a significant buff, it pains me how bad it is when it is so fun :(
Vanilla Splatana Wiper >>> Splatana Wiper Deco, no seriously, you have to considerer how useful it is to have a sub weapon that actually does damage and you still have the option to throw the Ultra Stamp as a single Inkstrike's glob, so it's not a bad special compared to the Deco kit, specially because Tenta Missiles got a massive nerf.
This vid was really interesting Bc it kinda showed which weapon classes are good/bad as a byproduct. You have things like splatlings and splatanas, where non of the options are completely bad, and then you have your stringers, where all three could have an argument made for being the worst
Love sploosh, hoping if we get 3rd kits it will be the sploosh 7 kit (splat bomb/trizooka) it doesn’t really have a lethal bomb to poke with to make up with its range, ultra stamp and wail kinda help with that but trizooka would be perfect to give it that extra range. Ik people are kinda meh with the “returning kits” but I would genuinely love to see this one return.
I hate that we have to wait for at least one and a half years once again after launch just for us Sploosh fans to have something to look forward too for the rest of the game's lifespan which by then would already be near the end of content support, which is a shame, and there's no grantee that the kit will be good, they might replace splat bomb with a utility sub and not give it a high tier special (trizooka or inkjet for example might get nerfed to lower tiers before the sploosh 7 gets those specials), not to mention that it might get outclassed yet again.
I still maintain that people dunking on the Undercover Brella kit aren't using it right. Chiefly, it has TREMENDOUS synergy with mines, and you should be learning how to use them constantly and aggressively. Reefslider is best used as a mobility aid and counter-special because it gets it often enough.
I feel like the rollers, in general, should just do 105 damage whenever the roller itself makes physical contact with an enemy, whether flicking, or rolling (This buff does not apply to the ink that is flung, the amount of ink it has, or if the tank is empty), as well as being able 1 hit objects without Object Shredder, when also making physical contact. As for the Carbon Rollers, I think a good buff for both would be just to give it the Junior's ink capacity. For the Deco, other than being able to splat more consistently with it's horizontal flicks, it would most likely be as good as what it was, pre-Burst Bomb nerf. As for the V Carbon, I think it would be more substantial, as it would be able to chuck 2 Autobombs and have a longer Zipcaster time, without needing any abilities.
I'm a filthy hydra main and I do like...? the kit that I have now (autobomb helps to get kills sometimes, booyah against longer range weapons) but the fact that it has the longest charge time in the game with no charge hold really hurts the mobility of the weapon and with the current meta all about being mobile... yikes.
It's a shame that we have to wait another year yet again, just for us Sploosh mains to have something to look forward to for Splatoon 3. I'm still pissed that Sploosh + burst bomb is limited to the single player.
My question about the Blob deco is that will it be useful in Rainmaker competitively. It shreds the rm shield and kraken is a good push tool when defending or attacking.
As an s2 blob main, bloblobber has done nothing but make me sad in this game. Everything that made it work in s2 (wall for more aggresive positions to make use of the main weapons output, and a hyper spammable bomb rush to take space and force pushes) are no longer existant. I think Kracken is so terrible with the main weapon bc youre either forcing yourself into a bad position to trade at best or running away. It honestly feels like a worse s2 baller lol
I lowkey do hope goo tubers get a small buff in the near future. Something like a tiny bit more range or a slightly adjusted charge time could be really fun for the weapon, maybe give it some use once/if splatlings move out of rotation a bit. Like, occasional use in zones or even clam blitz with the right build. Hoping for a small buff cause man, trying to 5* custom goo is hard in this meta lemme tell you.
I'm from the future, and personally I find the reef lux to be my favourite weapon just because it super versatile. Its a good painter, it can one shot from full charge (but 9 times out of 10 I just his 2 shots and kill them with a quick uncharged shot) and so much more
My dream kit for hydro splattling is prob ink mine or splat bomb and its special is either ink strike or killer wail 5.1. Though that’s just my opinion
personally i feel like inkline bow isnt better than vanilla bow. the kit couldve been fine if chump was in a better spot and the kit didnt have a sprinkler. it’s still bow, and bow has a lot of potential, but it doesnt synergize as much as the vanilla kit. i do play bow in comp, and vanilla feels much better to use than inkline in my opinion
I would argue that both vanilla brella and undercover are equally garbage, because hitting shots with both of them feels less like a shot and more like slapping them with a wet towel. Oh and everything shreds both shields.
I remember around when you made a splatoon 2 video covering this, goo tuber was still the worst weapon, and i even made a slight argument about it with you, and looking back its actually very reasonable with the points you have on weapons, and good meta advice even though i don't watch as much of you anymore.
Explosher needs some good kits if it's gonna to survive in turf and competitive play. Like the next kit needs to have curling bomb for it's mobility and big bubble to help it protect itself and lockdown areas. For it's second kits for a more aggressive play is that it needs burst bombs to help it poke and tenta missles or booyah bomb. I would say give it reef slider to give it a threating mobility would be a good special too.
I’m sorry but the kits you listed are terrible straight up. Explo is a slow firing back liner, what in the world is it gonna do with a curling bomb or reefslider? Those kits would literally be dead before release. And bubbler is a bad special right now. Something like crab/wave with autobomb/beakon would be amazing for it as it fits its playstyle way more
Yeah i saw a lot of these coming. Undercover is still the worst main weapon in the game, Clash is still completely terrible, Dapples has been struggling for the entire game, Painbrush is still unwieldy to use, Goo Tuber still have little reason to be used, a lot of main weapon that just struggle hardcore despite this meta being supreme. And while I doubt 3/5 of the weapons I listed will be buffed I hope at least Undercover and Dapples get a chance one day
As a painbrush fan I have to sadly agree. Painbrush is my favorite weapon to play. I played it so much that I’m able to make “blatant painbrush user” my tag phrase. But ever since I started trying to get into competitive splatoon. I’ve had to put bestie away. Even though I know precisely how to work within it limits and I can be a beast with it. Its specials aren’t that great, as you mentioned, and the end lag is a nightmare when trying to battle any 1v1. ESPECIALLY duelies with their rolls. I can only get away with playing it because I’m B rank. But I already know I’m going to be smoked in higher ranks with it. It’s a shame- it has so much potential. While part of me wants it buffed I’m not sure how exactly. Because painbrush is-well- painful to get hit by, increasing its speed of swings might be too crazy. Maybe more ink efficiency? I know we already got one like that but freeing up my slots from all the “main weapon saver” and “faster ink refill” because it feels like you need to refill every 3 seconds without it would be helpful.
Chara: "its hard to pick between hydra and the mini's because they are still pretty solid" Nintendo: Let's make that even more difficult now *drops 5.1 patch notes*
It pains me to see Dapple Dualies be considered the worst dualies. Dualies are my favorite weapon type and my second most used weapon is the Nouveau kit due to my love for the main weapon, Torpedo, and Reefslider.
As one of the 5 people who main the Nova, while it is one of the worst shooters for single combat, it serves as a really good scouting and flushing weapon thanks to its range and kit and is meant to get assist kills via chip damage rather than getting its own kills. I will also say that it’s skill ceiling is very high in the right hands. I consistently get 10 kills minimum in a match across all gamemodes (a lot of which were 1v1s) and even managed to score 31 kills in a single match once.
To my horror, I wasn't expecting the hydra (my main) to be ranked low 😭 I honestly don't mind the slow wind, it gives me a moment to think where to aim for a sec. Plus with it's long range.
Yeah I agree that gootuber deco is the worst kit but I love it still since I main Neo Lunar blaster, I love using it because I suck at chargers and it's the only one I can win with.
I’m a blob main who maimed blob deco for a while, I switched back to vanilla blob because I backtracked wayyyy to much using that. Sub was unusable for me and same as the special. I got slightly better after some time but the I grabbed the vanilla blob and all the sudden I was so much better. My goal is to be a comp blob player, I like how it’s the only weapon to bounce off walls and I want to maximize that. But blob deco sucks in to many areas
Honestly as a whole I think vanilla rapid blaster is worse than both clash blasters as it’s kit is god awful and it really has no reason to be used at least you see clash in solo occasionally
10:43 Note: atleast in my view, the kit is near perfectly designed and the kit is also self-sufficient However, the thing that makes kit really bad is bad balancing on a bad balanced main weapon
I actually think kraken was a good pick, it gives you a new playstyle that blob has never had, personally I’d prefer kits that give new ways to play the weapon than just “better than the last one” or “worse than the last one”
I was worried dynamo would be the worst cause I love dynamo, but yeah I completely forgot about base carbon, mostly cause I really love the deco one like everyone else
I dunno how I should feel about focusing the worst splatling in the game every time I find it as a Blaster. And then still die because it fires faster than me even without charging up.
Looking at what Sploosh and Splash kits have cooked so far, I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with Sploosh 7, and what they could possibly give to the potential Splash 9.
*Watches vid as a bloblobber and splattershot nova main* > < i like playing longer range support...but maybe i should try using splatlings instead: i haven't been doing too well, and might need every edge i can get ^^;
OMG VANILLA SPLOOSH ISNT AT THE TOTAL BOTTOM ANYMORE. Stayin strong with the gamer tag "The true ultimate sploosh a matic user." SPLOOSH META WHEN!??? RAAAAAAAAHHHH
As probably one of the 3 Bloblobber Deco enjoyers, i must say This weapon is absolutely garbage but it's one of my favourites to use, right next to the Nouveau Dapples. :3
With the buff to Painbrush in the mid-season balance patch I think it's in a better spot with a longer high damage range, I've hardly even used Painbrush before the buffs but I've managed decent results in a casual setting, instead I think Inkbrush Nouveau should take the worst spot as it has no way to counter long range weapons especially splatlings with it having poor range, Ink Mine and Ultra Stamp, now most brushes struggle against long range opponents but Inkbrush Nouveau seem particularly bad and with Tacticooler it's even easier to keep your distance from an attacking Inkbrush, at least Painbrush can splat people even with the longer start up.
Dear cooler users, as a fellow inkbrush player, what makes you think I don’t want your cooler? Please, give me access to your cooler. It literally makes me do everything I already want to do so much better. Please please stop putting your cooler on ledges that only shooters and chargers can camp on and start putting it in mid where 4 players benefit from its near-instant respawn time instead of only 3. A flank weapon like inkbrush is able to give your team really valuable openings it likely won’t have without one, and yes, it can absolutely keep up with the enemy team’s cooler-buffed weapons *IF* the buffs they get from it are ones it also gets (symmetrical advantages only work when they’re actually given symmetrically). Yours truly, A very thirsty soda-loving inkbrush main
