After the initial cutscenes of the G game we didn't hear the protagonist speak until the END OF THE SECOND MAIN ARC, by the way in real life time we wait almost 2 months to hear his/her voice outside combat, the protagonist of WW FEELS like a real protagonist (not like the G game where paimon is the real protagonist) and the WW protagonist has spoken more than the G game protagonist in 4 years

As a Genshin Glazer since the close beta, I can’t see myself going back to Genshin now, I love it but WUWA is just a better game to be honest, it feels so good to play, feels like a downgrade going back to Genshin now.

I have never taken mainstream game journalism serious. Especially after the cup head incident. I just play what I like.

If you make an elemental system like Genshin You will never get to play on the team you really want. Wuwa's system is better. Because it only has elemental protection.

I mean I finished the story, and he isn't wrong. It'd long amd drawn out, boring cutscenes and the paint is off... But it's not bad. Also gacha games are inherently story driven... as the drop of new story content is why you grind and get character... Solo leveling and few others where you build knights and such, you use equipment that looks like armor. Immma be honest, I think your nitpicking their choice of words. Whilst I don't agree with their entire review, I think you were just trying to pull it apart, with bias as opposed to trying to see their objectivity. Blessings. I don't really like gacha game stories very much in general, but the fact that I can still enjoy WuWa for days without ever engaging in the story shows that it isn't story-driven at all. It's a genuinely great and fun game that just happens to have a story that people can enjoy on the side, unlike Genshin that demands you sit through their story and still refuses to let players skip it, because they can't fathom that people might actually have better things to do with their time. Granted there are some cutscenes in WuWa that aren't skippable either, but most of the ones that I want to skip the most are skippable, and the stuff I couldn't skip was at least marginally interesting - which coming off of Genshin feels like a breath of fresh air.

Chixia is actually quite good/s tier imo/ explo unit. She rides the motorbike :) also her dmg is underated. her ult does almost the same dmg as rover dmg BUT in 5 times larger AOE. She autotarget from a distance so you dont need to chase monsters as a moron. Her outro is better than Rover and Encoure. her dmg being a bit lower doesnt mater in expo at all but clearing the whole screen with 1 burst does.

Something I’ve been thinking for a long time now is that games should stop being reviewed. It sounds fucking stupid but today’s gaming is not like it used to be. We have gacha games on consoles now, love service, games that receive free updates, expansions, dlc, patches which can all fundamentally change a game so when people want to buy games like Cyberpunk 2077 and they read reviews from launch those reviews are obsolete.

This IGN review was actually pretty fair IMO. It's fine to love the game, but acting like the echo system is amazing or the story actually gets good(it doesn't, the final acts of 1.0 are still pretty bad even if the Dreamless fight is cool) is blind fan behavior. A 7/10 for the messy 1.0 launch is justified, I'd personally bump it up to a 7.5 at least for personal enjoyment, but let's not lie to ourselves.

The "problem" with the elemental reaction system is that it would make some units better than others just by being of X element. Not only that, it would add complexity to the system that may end up being a bit much. It is not like it doesn't matter whats the enemy / element, some enemies are stronger or weaker depending on the element. I'm just glad it is not the focus

I love hex content but her takes on repetitiveness about farming and story being not great as in 1.0 are disingenuous. Idk how she's still in her honeymoon phase roaming around the maps collecting echoes and stuff. I mean if it's harder for her to capture a bunch of echoes, it's fine cause the combat is satisfying but 100+h of combat will eventually leading to ez farming. A couple of basic atks and heavy atks will obliterate echoes in secs if you're on the end game and that's the "repetitiveness" of the game rn. And the fact that we're still shorts on upgrade material is the slap on the face. Imagine farming 60 echoes/day and you can only upgrade like a couple of them a day.

7:55 Like most stories…this IGN review is ostensibly appears to be objective but is literally regurgitating the typical Genshin hater bias but in a very subtle way. The story is set up to explain more of itself the more you play…like every other game.

As a casual player, even though I started on day 1 hour 1, I just met Verina in main story. I think Chixia's voice acting is pretty adequate.

It's fair that IGN was off for sure. But Hex, I think most of your opinion comes from Hoyo games into this. When they mention 'helmets, gloves and armor' and you asked what gachas do that... the answer is most of them outside of the Hoyoverse games and Wuwa. Epic 7, Afk Journey, many Final Fantasy based gachas, Raid Eeeewww Legends and all those styles of game, a vast majority of them, use the equipment and armoring style. So in a video with a lot of weird takes, they were actually correct in that one, and makes me think they have actually played alot of gacha. Just maybe older, non Hoyo gachas. Great video Hex, and yeah Wuwa is an 8/10 and could get better over time. Keep up the awesome work!

The guy isn’t wrong about the dragons being fish-like. I don’t know how long this info dates back but from recent media and literature in China. A faction of the Chinese dragons are essentially rulers of the ocean - there could be up to four of them all at once (NESW). There is also the case where a koi/carp jumps out through the gate to turn into a dragon. This is something I’ve been seeing more recently over the past 20 years as I’ve gotten into their storage of books

IGN tends to have different people works on a review, such as a person for who plays it, separate from the writer of the review, and some times even different from the one who voices the review. Sometimes its the same sometimes it’s completely different people

Someone in chat really said Act 1 is a 7 out of 10. Yall are delusional about this game's story. Edit: Hex, as someone that only got to play chapter 5 and 6 recently, the only part of the story where i was not bored was chapter 5. Oh also the beggining of chapter 6 with that scene of Jiyan, that was pretty well written. The rest was subpar.

I was initially doubtful about the future of this game but my friend suddenly asked me to check out Jinhsi and Changli's gameplay. I don't really like spoilers but I guess it's fine if it's just gameplay and my doubts disappeared after seeing it.

Honestly WuWa *shouldn't* have an elemental reaction system It would limit you on the type of comps you can make, practically forcing you to use certain teams just to complete certain challenges which already happens, since some enemies has resistance to certain elements Adding an elemental reaction system would make it far more problematic and add unnecesary complexity to team comps

there is a new development and sp[eculation that IGN is working with Sweet Baby Inc. (DEI consultan company). apparently, SBI was trying to make the devs of Black Myth Wukong to pay them inorder for them to fix their pubplic image. apparently the lead devs say some thing in Chinese that they think is problematic. of which we would never know unless someong dig it up...and what do you know, when the dev declinde their stupid attempt of blackmailing, IGN come out with a post about how the lead devs was problematic. like a synchonize dance, they work literally the same time as each other.

Her lack of experience or lack of knowing how the situation or mood the charscters were in could have been the reason of why some voices are less good in english. But i will give them a chance to improve as they are listening to the community. Am switching between jp and en as I really love the jp va not taking anything away from the English va. Take care all

This review wasn't bad. I think most of the points are fair. The story was mid even towards the end. It's an extremely generic anime plot so far with what feels like no stakes.

Ngl the story in cbt 1 was really gud, it was much better than what we have here. But some chinese kids were babies and said why the story is dark. Why other characters don't like the mc (who is a complete stranger to them and have some strange powers btw) from the very moment he opens his eyes. Like are you kidding me? And they also removed some of the very gud cut scenes from the game.

4:03 I disagree, I am very glad that there's no core elemental system in this game. I will admit to not having played Genshin for more than a few dozen hours but isn't the combat mostly dominated by elemental reactions? All the team building that you do in that game is seemingly centered around elemental reactions and plenty of characters you utilize in combat extremely briefly, only to activate their skill / ult before instantly switching back every time. The elemental reactions seem to just limit team building opportunities in my eyes. The outro skills in this game thus far have been wonderfully versatile. Sanhua buffs basic ATK's so she'll always be a potential option for a character that mainly deals DMG with basics. Yinlin's outro buffs will be useful for every lightning character from now on and both healers in this game buff all elemental damage types. I do not yet have deep knowledge of the game but it feels like you have so much more freedom to play the characters you want because team building is not firmly rooted to a rigid elemental reaction system. In HSR for example I got very bored of the extremely rigid team building. Using the exact same teams over and over was so boring. Harmony characters are dull but they are also omnipotent and all-powerful in that game to the point of everything else feeling like a waste of time. That game is such an arduous character check nowadays that I stopped playing entirely even though I had most of the meta units with OK to decent relics. Having to use very specific characters with very specific teams to clear is extremely boring and unimaginative. I hope this game doesn't end up going down that route. Though even if it does I'll be glad to have experienced the wonderful joy of early patches like I did in HSR.

I'll be real, before playing I thought I wouldn't like Enxore. When she appeared in the story tho I thought omg this character is precious. IGN just has bad taste as usual. Too mcuh water anyone?

I haven't heard female rovers va work since I picked male (yes I know I committed a grand sin lol), however the male rovers va did a great job imo. Both him and Scar is why I keep the game in english.

7 points is fair. As for the review itself there are some hit and miss. Gatcha has always been a character centric type of game to me, so I am fine with anime trope feel-good story Wuwa has. If it gets good I am happy, if it stays as it is I am fine too. Though I must say the Combat definitely caught me by surprise. For a gatcha it’s really awesome. Most importantly the Characters design are top notch!! Jiyan, Calcharo and yinlin are SSS gold tier design I can’t stop looking at.❤

Funny I just watched a video about 7/10 games and how these reviews are BS and this review right here is a perfect example of it. Also I will say I love this game, it's great. I still think anyone saying the story is good or gets good later though is nuts. The final part was.... it was OK! It was blaaaaaaaaa it was ALRIGHT come on for frick sake. I'm OK with that though cause the game is so great in other aspects. And no this isn't mmm Genshin has a gwood stowy though. No Genshin blows and it's story has gone no where interesting in years. A good Gacha story is Nikke. You want an amazing story then play that. HSR doesn't even come anywhere even close to Nikke in terms of story. Anyways, Wuthering Waves is a great game for me due it's great setting, the beautiful world, the exploration and the combat.

I think the entire idea of what gacha is on genshin and hsr has poisoned things a bit. Even Honkai Impact by Hoyo had more generous gacha, in terms 50/50 not existing. You get the character or you don't. PGR lets you get every new character. Being more generous than new hoyo games is not necessarily improvement. Not in general or in generosity. It's being more generous than these games, that's all. No need to praise too much, it's still a downward trend on average

And the fact that he already gave verdict to the story when admitting it makes him wanna skip the dialog because of how lengthy it gets is quite absurd, I mean why giving verdict already to the story? Because for sure he didn't get the whole story if that's the case 😂😂

7:02 The story is okay. Not the best but not as bad as people are making it out to be and since when did story rank higher than gameplay? Also it would help to know a little bit about Chinese mythology because Pangu is basically the Chinese version of Zeus. So Pangu is implying something very powerful and divine. Idk, the story was fine to me after the tutorial part of the game and got wayyyy better.

The moment I heard Yangyang's ENG VA, I switched to JP's immedietely and never looked back. 🤣🤣🤣Jokes aside, I hope they fix it tho.

Personally, I did not find Chixia's voice acting all that terrible, at least when compared to Yangyang, and the Rover spoke so rarely that it seemed less important, but it was admittedly very lacking. That being said, these things are outliers, not the norm. The rest was much better, and the game as a whole is far better than this biased IGN idiot gave it credit for.

Everything he said from start to finish is true. I like the game very much but i wont entertain bias bullsh*t. U speak and assume thing on your own but in the end can only point at thing he didn't mention. Ww is a story driven game as not everyone is interested in the action primarily. He described the game perfectly in my opinion and if u dont think that this comprehensive enought then u are definitely giving just giving a biased opinion😂😂

honestly wuthering waves has a better 1.0 story then genshin since the bad part is quick and liyue is horribly huge, so it's really not as bad as people say

The only thing that i agree with the review is the first half, it is charged with exposition with tons of concepts and words, i admit that took me like two weeks to understand everything, and then how the combat works, and that part of the story you are running around the lab was kinda rough and boring........UNTIL Camellya appears, then it is interesting and the boss fight with Dreamless is VERY epic

The story starts connecting things together from the very start if you read the books in Mortefi's library in act 1 when they're presented to you.

The ign review was a 2 at best. The person playing the game was trash and clearly didn't read anything that the characters could do

I really liked the bit of the story in WuWa that we got to see... I also blocked out all of it before Qichi village and remember nothing about what happened before "Story Time with Scar." I also like how a lot of the side quest stories seemed really light hearted and fun... just to turn into some of the most depressing...

This reviewer was actually really good and valid. The reviewer is clearly versed in gacha and plays it more like a "gamer" rather than a "gacha gamer". The only good thing about the story IS Scar. I still haven't completed the exploration stuff nor have a strong desire to. I love learning combat mechanics, but this also has essentially a combo system with optimal lines and can get dull using it on trash fodder. I get loving and defending a game but this review wasn't for you. He needed to give a single review score for general people rather than multiple scores that focus on specific people's desires.

Sure, amnesia and the chosen one are overused tropes, but that doesn't inherently mean bad writing. I think Genshin tropes of things happening to the person we just need to talk with are worse. It's like those romance anime where everything will be done if they confess, but they can't because the plot won't easily allow them.

as a chixia main she is absolutely horrible against huge mob enemy but amazing against boss that is very annoying to fight against from ranged and she also deal huge damage for her final shot attack

Bro, I bet they didn’t rinse genshins story nearly as much as Wuwas, yet in my opinion it’s worse in all the ways he mentioned. I mean I agree it is jargony, but holy almost every sentence in genshin would sound schizophrenic if you read out to someone not familiar with the game

Some of the side quests are very good. There are a few that tell important lore pieces to the world, and others that genuinely made me laugh. That being said, there's also really bad ones.

Every single thing he says about WuWa's story is EXACTLY the same in Genshin 1.0... And this is coming from someone who's AR 60 and has played Genshin since launch

they had element system they scrapped it off, and one who played genshin from to start to Raiden 100% i think wuwa has more playble than genshin from get go, genshin story was better after released more content first when i played i was like oh well story just ended and had to wait wuwa had more in story wise from get go than genshin had in release .

we all know that the story should start of with a bang!!! first two seconds she should be asking him to marry her, but a minute in the game the MC should have the keys to the city... an hour in MC should have an planetary level of power And also imagine starting a story and knowing everything in the first 5 minutes of it, of course many parts of something that's new to you is gonna be unknown to you until you get more information to piece it all together...

that's typical of IGN reviews, they just play the game for a couple of days max then put out a sloppy review.

These game journalists never play these games properly and give a biased take depending on who they got paid. It's like RottenTomatoes getting paid to say their movies are good as a bribe that's why sometimes you see critic score 90%+ then you see the real score audience score -30%.

IGN= I love Genshin News. Act 1 was absolute boring( the library/ lab baizhi mortefi) then act 2 investigate the objects of jinhsi. I just dont care. Then the story began to be a little gun act 5 encore. Good solid 7. Act 6 the battle 10/10. As a nikke player the rover is left too alone after act 2. Team companions are necessary to make some bonding and empathy with the character and rover. I feel i have nore bonding with yinlin mission than with yangyang /chixia and baizhi( baizhi i just dont care nothing about her almost we dont speak with her). I said nikke b/c yes we play with the powerful nikkes but in the dialogues the original squad is there the bonding is there. For example our right hand RAPI and maybe main love interest is interesting and the nikke players want a better version of rapi to be able to play with her. But in wuwa there is almost no bonding. Rover has more bonding with aalto encore yinlin and jiyan that with the free trio.

The Jargon should be taken as something that is connected to the game world/lore rather than connecting it to real life. Sure the basis of the Jargon used in game has roots to how we use them, but we have to remember that they might be using them to name/explain something in WuWa lore that is exclusive to the world....expecting game Jargon to mean exactly the same as it's real life usage would probably be dumb (like, haven't they played enough games to get this concept???)

Hex..you beautiful lady...You managed to catch how he called Wuwa "Story-based RPG" But you missed how he called Genshin a "Action RPG". He fumbled hard there, since Wuwa is the action rpg...genshin is the story rpg.

I like Yangyang's VA. She is a mutant, maybe she became emotionless after getting her resonator abilities and bird wing instead of some hair on her head. Maybe she will become 5* at some point, and get more emotions.

Other than hating Yangyang and skipping most of the story, the review was positive about the game and in general good, IMO
