I love that his brain writes a post-apocalyptic action thriller like “I Am Legend”, and his heart writes something as whimsically beautiful as “The Doll” (you can watch it on RU-vid right now). He truly was a genius, and I cannot get enough of his work.

I don’t like what dreams would come. Too religious and illogical for me. But he is on the same calibre as George r r Martin

Mr. Lizarraga--This was done in 2011 (it says it at the end credits). He died two years later. Wonderful writer. Unfortunately, this was after he had suffered a stroke, so he wasn't very coherent (I missed a few words he said, and the interviewer wasn't very good at follow-up). But it was fascinating to hear him talk, being a fan of his work--especially for THE TWILIGHT ZONE).

Bid Time Return is one of my favorite Matheson works. His screenplay for Duel is legendary. His son Chris is also an accomplished author, but the father remains the king.

First off, I agree w/ UR NOTU, below, & am amazed that there are not more comments on this guy: He's the greatest writer out there, & the Twilight Zone proves that much (and he HATES "genre" --and I definitely feel the same way about this French-ass word)...this was a man!)

jmichealsmith99 do you think this writer feels that words should suffer criticism because they originate from the French language?

In fact, half of the English language originates from French, thanks to the Norman Conquest in 1066.

It's no surprise that Richard enjoys those well written comedy shows like MTM, Cheers, Fraser, Taxi, etc. One can see the connection between Richard's style of 'horror' or 'fantasy' writing which all include an element of outrageousness to them, as does all good comedy. One can see such appreciation of comedy in Phillip K. Dick's stories as well. A sense of humor is essential. Without it, the fiction would be too unbelievable. Humans need humor.

Interviewer not up to the task. She's asking who the actors were and such?----Sounds like this was NOT the person to interview someone of Matheson's stature as an author and screenwriter.
