Trying to make sense of X-Men continuity is like trying to unravel 40 years worth of earbuds that have been rolling around in a dryer set on ludicrous speed.
If Jean isn't at fault for what the Phoenix did through her, then Cyclops is equally as innocent of his crimes while being Phoenix. Which renders All-New X-Men's core concept entirely moot. Which...makes sense, considering where it ends up.
TheDoubleHELO I agree. I hate that they just shit on Cyclops when Wolverine has murdered plenty of people. And hell how many times have they forgiven Magneto?
Jean's original and only power was limited telekenisis. She would gain telepathic abilities some time later by Xavier "sharing" his telepathy with her, but this would be retconed with the explanation being Xavier sealed it away because she couldn't control it at a young age. The time displaced Jean, for some reason, gains her telepathy earlier and reads people's minds A lot without permission, to their dismay.
I love how Uatu's hobby is just telling off the X-Men. "Hey Wolverine, get the F out of my moon base." "Hey Beast, you're a selfish a**hole and deserve nothing good." "Hey Apocalypse, come hang out so we can dunk on how much of an idiot Professor X is for creating Onslaught."
From what I’ve seen, most fans of the x men love or at least respect cyclops, most of the hate tends to come from people who wouldn’t really call them self x fan.
@@JengoFate This is exactly it. I don't think a lot of non X-Men fans really know the intricacies and nuances of the character. Most probably only know him from TAS or the movies where he was either boring or intentionally made to look like shit in order to prop up Wolverine and make him cooler.
it be cool if they just give Beast the power shift between his various forms with each giving him a boost in his physical attributes like Ape Beast be his strongest form, Cat Beast be his agile form and Horse Beast be his fastest form.
HexBug 97 They weren't exactly proSkrull preSI either. Granted, it is hard when you fight a lot, but I mean, America got over WWII anger and fell in love with German cars and Japanese monster movies. Marvel Earthlings can overcome Secret Invasion.
The 10 minute set-up (so funny btw) just reminded me how messed up this era of Marvel is. Secret Wars would've been a great time to hit a reset, or even a semi-reset. But the time-displaced X-Kids are STILL floating around goddamn it. All on different teams no doubt.
On a side note: The Shiar seem mightily traumatized by the whole Phoenix ordeal. Don't seem to bothered by the full-scale war with the Inhuman ruled Kree Empire... Hm. Bendis's headcanon be weird.
a classic back issues. Sal and Ben at their finest... of course Ethan seemed distracted by his side project Getting Physical with Ethan. Can't wait for the next episode of Getting Physical with Ethan.
my only problem with this book was that bendis just acts like the infinity event never happend. where the entire universe railed behind earth especially gladiator I hate that bendis ignores continuity all the time lol
they revealed in the X-men Blue that the reason the timeline isn't fucked is because they're from an ultimate reality. Just because it wasn't complicated as it was
I was hoping since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 came out Sal would do the Abbnett run or Annihilation. Then I saw the notification. I would rather hear Sal talk about Bendis' run the more I think about it.
Sal perfectly summed up the absolute burnout with Bendis's Marvel books in the mid 2010s. His work was pretty much comic book junk food and it got old in large quantities, to the point where i remember dropping right as Secret Wars soft reset everything
I thought Jean did have telekinesis? I remember in the first-ever issue, there was a panel where she was putting a book back on a shelf. WITH HER MIIIIIIND....! I could be wrong, though, it's been fucking *years*. Lol
Gilmore Girls references?! In my Back Issues? Fun fact: Sean Gunn from Gilmore Girls is the brother of James Gunn, who directs Guardians of the Galaxy. He even plays Kraglin in those movies!
What reason the reason why they decided to have star lord date shadowcat? Also in this universe she has dated two guys name Peter and in the ultimate universe she dated Peter Parker, so from I getting that in the multiverse kitty pyrde has a Peter name fetish.
manuel cabeza he does without good build up and making reader believe that these two be a good and than build it up than execute in way that makes fans happy but bendus doesn't do that he rushes it and will pair up characters that don't need to be in romantic relationship with each other. I think a lot writers at marvel ignore a lot good ideas for couples if they do have one they don't do anything with it and it's left in the air.
I actually prefer the Starlord/Gamora relationship from the MCU, than them not a couple in the couple in comics. They got pretty good chemistry in those movies.
You Know I had all of Bendis's All New and Uncanny X-Men run ( Including Cyclops vol 1+2, No More Humans, Battle of The Atom, The Trial of Jean Grey and Black Vortex) and was thinking about sending it to Sal for the longest time, and then I thought Naaah Sal would never do it, so I donated it to the Library( I liked a lot of it, but was ultimately left disappointed)......... lol
Hello Sal and ComicPop , I enjoy and like your Back Issues videos. Could you do a Back Issues on Adventures of Supergirl from DC Comics ? It's a comic series both digital and print based on The CW Supergirl TV Series written by Sterling Gates. That would be a good Back Issues show if you did one on that comic series. Thanks Sal and ComicPop and keep up the great work !!!
Hilarious episode! Just letting you know - Jean could move objects with her mind in the original comics - she would move books and stuff. I don't think her psychic abilities came until later.
Sitting here watching Back Issues; Great episode, and all i can think is that a Bat Woman / Angela crossover would be awesome. Callin' it for the next Marvel / DC crossover.
Just picked this up at a con, I can finally break into Marvel comics with an interesting sounding story without too much backstory! Thanks guys, now my friends will only berate me for not reading any of the ultimate universe!!!
If Gladiator had killed young Jean, then Jean would have never become Phoenix and therefor never have repaired the M'Kraan crystal, therein saving the entire universe. A huge con there.
Also I was a fan of jean grey up until the gay incident with Bobby lol. I couldn't defend her after that. It was like yep she's a bitch. I also liked how kitty got overprotective of jean for no reason when older Scott was talking to her in uncanny X-men. I was like what was she expecting? Scott to sleep with a underage Jean? Hmm wait it is Scott. :)
It may not have been the best way, however, a real bitch would have outed him in front of everyone and made him feel like he's just wrong and would have ridiculed him. At least Jean made it a private moment between them. Also remember, they're teenagers and teens do not always make the best decisions or handle things in the most appropriate way. Adult Jean wouldn't have even said anything, I think we can agree on that. I believe teen Jean's heart was in the right place, just executed poorly. Not trying to hate on Emma Frost, but she's done far worse then any mistake teen Jean has made--at least Jean's been apologetic of her errors, not many characters are
Its actually pretty funny if you think about it Beast and Beast boy from dc both have their designs and power sets changed to slightly different furry varients every now and then like beast boys red then hes a big hulk monster oh and in another universe he can turn into different furry people because we need to corner that market
