PS1 games had their music files in a format that was playable on most cd players. You could listen to the soundtrack of a game through this method. I think thats what the console was trying to do but it got hung up. Also, these videos bring me back. Lol i remember you stuffing all kinds of stuff into old consoles back in the day.
The majority of PS1 games didn't have music in redbook audio -- the format used by audio CD players. Most PS1 games had music in the .seq format, which was similar to a MIDI file paired with a custom soundfont, although music rips of this format typically use the .psf container.
@@blast_processing6577there were actually two different forms of audio used for PlayStation games at the time and it was up to the developer which they chose to go with. They were: Compact Disc Digital Audio (CDDA): Some games included audio tracks in the standard CD audio format, which could be played on any regular CD player. These tracks were often the game’s soundtrack or additional audio content. Sequenced Music (SEQ): Other games used sequenced music, where the music data was stored in .SEQ files, similar to MIDI files. The instrument samples were stored separately in .VAG files, and the PlayStation’s sound processor would play these sequences in real-time. Anything that used CDDA could be played in a CD player and CDDA was essentially the same thing as Red Book format. It should also be noted that the Red Book standard was developed by Sony and Philips in the 1980s... So if anyone knows how it works I'm pretty sure it's them lol
When my parents divorced in 1999 when I was 4 my Dad left all his games behind. I spent a few years throwing all the games in CD players thinking magically somehow I can play something that would bring my dad back. Sad af. But I discovered so many different kinds of music that I didn’t hear played everywhere I went. I loved finding the SEGA games with different warning tracks saying specifically not to play the games in a normal CD player. I used to listen to SEGA Saturn cutscenes and letting my brain create the visuals since I never even seen the games. Any of them tbh. It created my ADHD no doubt. It felt like treasure hunting
The reason the X Box Series X takes in the Game Cube mini DVD and ejects it is because it can play CDs, while the PS5 cannot play CDs. CD Players need to have comparability with 3" discs because in the 90s there were CDsingles that were released as 3" discs. I am willing to bet if you put in a 3" music CD that it would play on the Series X.
The only caveat to this is that the GameCube disc didn’t actually mount into the series x mechanism. I’ll have to get a 3” music cd and try it out though
2:50 FUNFACT: Its because if you put ps1 games inside a mp3-player you would hear all the soundtracks of the game. This is due to the format in which PSX games are written on CD!
To be honest it makes sense, game discs have been useless since the ps4 as you are installing the whole game once you put it in. So basically the game just recognizes you have a copy of the game physically instead of owning the game on your ps/xbox account
You clearly have no clue what you're talking about. Install is for those day 1 updates. Copying is copying some data from disc to hard drive & not every PS4 or PS5 game does this.
@John-jm4nv All you did was tell people you have no clue what you're saying/typing. It's called the vanilla version of a game that you can play without those day one updates (offline games) just fine.
@@John-jm4nv Dude they have a website called 'Does It Play' and it literally tells you video games you can play offline and without updates. But this rumor that the discs or cartridge doesn't have the game on it is a bold face lie.
Not really some people still believe strongly on disc copy's and I do both digital and physical copy's of the games if I can get a game on sale I would rather by it on sale physical or digitally
Been watching channels like yours for years, always wanted to pick up some consoles to repair myself. Finally bit the bullet, picked up 2 xbox 360 slims off ebay for only 15 bucks each. 1st one already had a game in it Far Cry 3. Were both easy fixes and each sold for 160 bucks, minus supplies to get started i made about 180 dollars profit!
@@fenrir5741u can still do it in dev mode nothing gonna change about that been doing dev mode for 3 years now ! its the safe way to go they went after retail they will never take dev mode away
@@fenrir5741 Think you got it backwards. I use an Xbox and Xbox Dev Mode. I play DS games on Retroarch and PS2 games on XBSX2. They cracked down on the public store having emulators because of monetization issues with people emulating pirated copies for free, the Dev Mode emulators are still supported, and even regarded as the "legal" solution. It costs 20 bucks, and a bit of technical skill. Not much, but it's there.
Yaaaaaay, another one of these :D Thank you Jacob :3 I hope you and Danny have an amazing day! I wish there were more consoles so you could do even more videos like these!
Love the video bro keep up the great work and I remember the good old days when you made those videos of what happens if you put a foreign disc in a PS4 etc etc. Cuz I remember when I was a kid I had a wii where I was wondering what happens if I put a DVD in my wii and some reason it the disc channel showed some error message saying can't read disc and right there it answered my question. I remember being a little smart boy enjoying these fascinating things.
Man I bought Condemned 1 and 2 not knowing part 2 isn’t compatible for the Series X. What a bummer. If we’re able to play the first game, the 2nd one should’ve been playable as well to complete the story.
The discs will not do anything because video game discs are not standard CD rom format. The only tum the disc is need is at game load time. It uses the disc a code to make sure you bought the game. Then the game runs from the SSD
I love my Xbox but watching old dvds is a pain mine gets extremely shaky and eventually can’t hear anything I changed all settings and still does it luckily I still have superslim ps3 that reads them 😢
Back then this is my most favorite thing to watch, now i will wait until the ps6 and xbox whatever releases if it has a disc drive so i can still enjoy watching this type of video.
been using a computer for ages but you and your videos inspired me to setup my old 360 and buy a series x to play some 00s xbox games at better performance that i cant play on pc. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Peter Jackson's King Kong, Turok 2008,Gears of war 1 - 3, Clive Barkers Jericho, Prey 2006, Condemned 2, The Darkness 1, Burnout Revenge, Dante's Inferno, and some others.. some of these are on PC but only cd rom, and some of them ive heard can brick your computer like peter jacksons king kong and the chronicles of riddick: assault on dark athena because of outdated DRM software that is now malware... and some others used to be on gog/steam but was removed aswell that are now either impossible to get or super expensive :( got some of them for both my PC and xbox but really been enjoying the nostalgic achievement hunting on xbox :)
That's not a floppy disk that's a hard disk 👉💾 The floppy disk are the ones before these come out. The bigger & thinner version. There really thin like a CD thickness which is called a hard disk!
Yo bro love the content🤙🏽🤙🏽, I wanted to know if an Xbox 360 slim with 250 Gb can play OG Xbox 360 games and does it need a memory unit card to save your data? Cause I’m planning to buy an Xbox 360 slim again and I’m trying to get the best info👊🏽. Love the content Jacob 💯
the thing for Halo 1 and 2 is probably the same reason SEGA delisted the original emulated versions of the original Sonic trilogy on the digital stores as they're doing the "you need to buy the new collection if you want to play this game on modern systems" bullshit
Really enjoy these videos even though I know it won't work. Be cool if you remaked the OG ones but try like a PS2 with a PS5 game or a Wii with a new Xbox game.
Since you can unplug the DVD drive from the console while the game is already running and it works normal Couldn't you modify a Xbox drive that tells the Xbox that you own the game without putting the disc in?
Now to think, all those Nintendo games, you could play them on the Xbox Series X... and even the PS2 and before. Emulation.... and you can still do it... You used to be able to do it on Retail mode (Thanks Nintendo for screwing it up) but, now you can only do it via Dev mode ($20 to get and side load RetroArch)
When you realise that you can do this to make pirate copies of the game by buying a real copy of the game and then taking the disk drive out of the consult while it’s running on the console and then putting it into another console or a PC to burn the game
If you put a PS one and a PS3 and it works and then take the disc out you can still play the entire game with Al the disc in but I’m not sure because I only get one time with NBA 2004
I think you might be able to maybe find out maybe you could see that contents of the storage devices connected to the Xbox console in the file explorer app.
I wonder what would happen if you replaced the xbox hard drive with the playstation 4/5's harddrive and vice versa. Since the hardware is pretty much the same. Would be hilarious if it actually worked. And legit turn an xbox into a playstation and a playstation into an xbox. I bet some hacker/modder could figure out how to get it running.
It's kinda sad that we can emulate xbox and like xbox 360 on a raspberry Pi but not the new xbox. Lol. Legit makes no sense. They could make so much money keeping the old games alive.
good speedy wifi. my families wifi we have since the summer has 20mb/s and then has a 10 gig data limit before slowing down, but it’s great for games and streaming so i can’t complain. just wish i could update bo cold war cause it’s 125 gigs cause i haven’t updated it for almost a year 😂
