I personally don't like ki canceling, never use it never learned to use it, haven't really needed it, but like most things considered cheap in xenoverse my issue is the over reliance on it. When used properly it's nothing but a boon to a players abilities, but some players are so high on ki stunning that they lose because they just do it and don't know how to fight when it fails. I used to be a total hater, but facts and logic prevail, it seems to be an intended mechanic, but too many players crutch on it without knowing how to do it properly. Sorry for the mini rant.
I think the real problem lies in players not knowing what to do to get over a player throwing a ki shot and the frustration of someone hitting you with one instead of risking you vanishing for one bar if they get close enough or them not giving you a big enough window to defend yourself. You're supposed to use ki blast as much as you use the other attacks that's why it's treated as a BASIC ATTACK and does little to no damage considering they're free to use and you can throw them out at almost any time. Some characters benefit from it more than others

Games like the Marvel Vs Capcom series let you cancel super jumps into air dashes into dive kicks, which were combo starters. If you’ve ever fought a Rogue from X-men in fighting games the AI does it crazy wit her. Games like that made your reflexes skyrocket. Seeing it here just shows how versatile the game can potentially be. Yes, it’s gonna be annoying to a person who doesn’t do it, but then again so is perfect blocking. Some folks put more effort into mastering certain aspects of the game than others

Former ki stunner here, and yeah this isn’t adapting, it’s actually not that hard to get good at the game without using it for PvP, most people only use it for the sake that they’re too lazy to actually learn how the characters work and what their combo cancels are (if they have any, which if they don’t, your true skills will show when you have a balanced character) other than that, this community loves to break and exploit the game, which I get, so much so to the point where the devs are allowing but this isn’t skill nor isn’t adapting once again. Ki stunning isnt meant to be used in the game main reason why you never see it in a tutorial if you abuse this your arent good at the game ki stunning is a very broken thing
I’m not familiar enough with competitive XV2 to comment on the specifics but just because a mechanic isn’t intended, or might even be a glitch, doesn’t mean it isn’t useful or even a good addition. Think wavedashing in Smash Melee.
I used to be like that. In my defense I never had seen anyone who would use ki blasts to pressure, play mid range game or long game. Everyone would just use it ad a crutch to recover from their mistakes like throwing raw melee attacks out. These days I like using fuzed Zamasu and have mid range pressure with his hecay attack ki blasts and regular ki blasts, nearly nobody knows how to deal with that pressure and usually can't even get to melee range without burning up half their stamina at a time.
This is where I’m tryna get to wit my CACs. I love M Zamasu bcuz of that style, but he’s painfully limited. Almost all my CACs (female saiyans) are built to keep you out of their comfort zone. Doesn’t always work but it’s a nice style to use against all these male saiyans and male humans and female majins who RELY on getting in close. And the make human wit his 10 minute stuns.
Ki stunning is op, just like a lot of stuff in xenoverse. If you ki stun and your opponent doesn't you're greatly advantaged. If you use super guard and you're opponent doesn't you're immensely advantaged. If you use custom jiren spamming his cancel and op moves you're absurdly advantaged and etcetera. I played this game online for 4/5 years, I have more than 1000 hours played, and 65% chance of winning, never using any, ANY, ki stun, dragon burn or this kind of dogshit, so I know what I'm talking about. The problem in xenoverse online is that people don't give a fuck about competition or not, you can find ki stunners, spammers, modders on ranked nearly as much as in friendly battles. People just want to win, no matter what shit they're using and if you're disadvantaged, and that's why there's a lack of skill and respect in this game's community. It's a goddamn dragon ball game, and clearly people haven't watched the show to be so childish when playing it. Dragon ball also teaches to have fun in life, but people play to win, no matter what, like they're losing money or a goddamn leg. The rare times I encounter people who have a sense of respect, fairplay and these apparently unknown things, it turns into another game, and I find a spark of hope. Then I meet the 89394th modder and I realize how much I hate humans
I agree 1000% bro. I barely have 2 years into this game in PVP. Never really tried it but now that I am decent its annoying can’t even use C tier characters because your chances of winning even in casual play are low because they have netcode and that dam crazy backhit tracking with ki cancels. I just wana play casual and have some fun/role play but mf care too much about winning.

Played since release date. Even when there were moments of balance folks continued to try things like out of map glitching with sword of hope in ranked. Keep in mind they don't earn nothing from ranked but play like their lives depend on it.
The xenoverse community will play mental gymnastics. You get called a cheeser then if you play the way they want they still get pressed. Most of those folks will end up cheesing you when you beat them too much. I fought a steedoj fan thay complained about me ki cancelin saying its too easy and doesn't cost nothing and it was cheesey so i decided to use crush cannons guard cancels which cost 1 bar of ki. I beat him multiple times telling him he has no excuses now. Then he started picking broly and grab spammed. Brainless hypocrites.
I hate that mentality. Makes it feel so personal. It’s a game. Pick your favorite characters and just play. If you lose you lose. If you win you win. This whole thing of oh I gotta come back wit something to beat you mentally just shows what kinda folks we got out in the community. 4 outta 10 times if I beat someone they come back with Hit or Broly or Red Goku (for grabbing). Or they’ll get mad and pick Ginyu (or a CAC that looks stupid with body change) just to scare me out the room. Mental gymnastics is real man

I never understood the argument for ki cancels and stuns they buffed a character and gave him ki cancels (android 16) if people are still complaining about this intended mechanic play something else
It’s honestly just annoying to deal with. Ik how to stop it(stepping the blast and pb, or flying attacks are always hilarious against the ppl who do it) but the second someone starts stunning or cancelling loses they start xy’ing on a male saiyan or male earthling or female majin or mashing backflip and atp there’s no joy in the game in the slightest bit, especially when they get a free redo with limit burst. Shit just gets boring, especially when they talk shit afterwards too
Ki cancels aren’t really the problem in Xenoverse 2, IMO if the netcode was better we wouldn’t have people complaining about Ki stunning and other unbalanced aspects of the game. I figured out a long time ago that playing anime fighters like this competitively isn’t worth it at all if you’re looking for something that rewards you better when you sink your hours into it. That’s why I just stick to Fighterz, MVC3, and Street Fighter 3rd strike cause those are fighting games that take a bit more skill and rewards you more for learning and getting better at the system mechanics they offer (also my friends don’t like playing Xenoverse 2 with me ;P) Also I just like Xenoverse 2’s CaC system and wish it was more fleshed out cause making my characters in the dragon ball universe is such a fun and cool idea. And tbh most of these anti ki canclers/steed fanboys have themselves to blame when they lose. Everytime I tyem play they vanish the millisecond they get hit, refuse to adapt and will usually whine about every little thing.
I agree, steedoj gave a gateway to over complain about things that can’t be changed at this point, and I also agree that most people are battle hungry and won’t preserve the stamina they have to get that ecstasy of attacking you (very good observation by the way) but adaptation does not look like “circle, move, circle” for everyone, if anything playing a bit more passive with ki stunners to throw them off if you chose not to use them is adapting, since you won’t fight fire with fire you can still manage that play style and win (or lose, depends on how the match goes because Xenoverse) but for the people who actually play the game, this isn’t adapting at all.
@BreezO. Everyone who I play that complains about ki canceling I literally teach them how to counter it in under 3 minutes it's not difficult. The 7000+ hours I have in this game came from pvp and training mode and I fight players who catch me with ki shots as well but if thats all you're doing you become a easier target. It's just excuses at this point there's more serious busted stuff to worry about in this game
All I gotta say is ki cancel is cool but stunning is dumb why am I deflecting a ki stun when I’m behind them and why is it making me deflect instead of perfect blocking it. I’m cool wit cancels because this game has one of the worst end lag I seen and everyone has it, if sum characters don’t have it it’s bc they don’t need it.
I completely agree on that big RU-vidrs opinions on ki cancelling and branding it cheap is the issue here. I dont do rank for the reason being you're locked in with a player with a bad connection and a lot of times they know their connection is terrible, I hate the three minute timer because of health regen builds and last you're only going to find braindead health and stamina regen builds in ranked. What's the point of trying to be at the top when the only people up there are cheaters and boosters as well as the cheapest builds possible? Not only that but host player has map advantage like this is one game where ranked doesn't have a set map so that it is not treated as a factor of battle. Yeah I see no incentives to play rank

I play it a a lot so at times I do encounter folks who aren’t using those builds as much(rarely encounter the good guys). I’ll try to ping you on psn would love to learn more. Too add my win rate is bad coz of that dropped from 70 to 50 once I transitioned from limited to unlimited so yeah you do have a fair point
Ki canceling is only used because everyone knows you literally stun your enemy for free without having to actually try OR even get out of from being hit for free sometimes just because it DOES give you s. You are the one that don’t know what youre talking about my guy. The discussion is just because you ki cancel and the games trash netcode carries you does not mean you are good. What makes you really good is when you can whoop someone that does all of that without doing any of that. I can most of the time overcome opponents like that but even I gotta admit there are professional ki stuning cancelers that get carries by netcode does take a bit of skill to be cheesy while using every single advantage. But thats my two sense. I don’t mind it but all I gotta say is if you do it to much dont get mad and kick someone when I do it back to you and do it better.
Every fighting game I know and have played has cancels. You get caught with a ki blast that means you're standing still. The tutorial literally teaches you how to deflect ki blast. You're basically whining for the opponent to stay still because they're too hard to hit. Ki blast can really increase the pace of the match and make you watch what you do carefully but I get some people get overwhelmed. If connection is too much of a problem every match you play just play co op or offline because it makes no sense to whine about that every match and still ready up so I suggest getting an ethernet cord. I make these videos because I want everyone to be educated on the game and losing part of playing games. If I find someone doing something I have trouble with I evaluate the situation and do my best to adapt. It can take time but making excuses for everything that gives you a hard time does not make sense to me and will leave you playing at the level you are now
I don’t ki stun, not intentionally, but I almost HAVE to ki cancel all the time just to keep my chic moving. In fact, themeatball actually complains about everyone then. He asks folks to kik me cuz I’m doing something “magical “ as to why I’m always moving out the way of stuff. He’s usually whining loudly on the mic too lol . I’m like , I don’t know what I’ve done to you, but kiking ME ? Ok! In these rooms nowadays my chic using ki cancel is the LEAST of anyone’s worries. Lol
@@creativebeatdown it makes very much sense to complain about connection. Thats why most players make there own lobbies because they know they have an advantage. The point is to SAY YOU ARE GOOD while getting every single advantage possible is not you being GOOD at the game. I get it’s a mechanic in the game and embrace/ dont get mad when people use it. Where I get mad is when they really do use every cheesy advantage to try hard and it just makes the game annoying to play pvp. The point is to have fun
If you can't stand ki cancels and "eye" frame abuse, like me, just don't play online? People are way too fcking stubborn. Seriously, I can't stand fighting people that thumb rape their ki blast button and abuse the shit out of the millions of I frames either, so I just fcking don't, I spend 90% of my time on the game playing pqs and have a hell of a time not being mangled by someone five times more reliant on their damn B button.
idk I think I just joined in the game too late everyone is better than me and I cant find a way to fight people my skill level I havent won one match because everyone it wants me to fight has 1k hours on the game
If you have a passion for the game you will learn... it'll take time. Don't expect to be at the same level as everybody else and you haven't put in the same level of work or time. Training mode is your best friend. Don't take the easy way out or you'll never improve
