The reason for the variation in advice about epoxy resin lasering is due to the variation in types of chemistry that comprises epoxy resins. Some types are based on epichlorohydrin, which when burned results in highly corrosive hydrogen chloride. That material will corrode your equipment very quickly. Some resins are based on bisphenol A and glycidyl ethers, and products of combustion are much milder and less hazardous. Little Windows resin is of this type. Basically, get an MSDS or SDS (safety data sheet) for the resin you want to use, and check the section labeled Products of Combustion. If hydrogen chloride is listed, don’t use it.
Hear hear. It is shocking how many "resin experts" on the internet don't even know what an SDS is but feel confident in making sweeping statements about what is required to be safe when working with it. If we listened to the general "internet opinion" we would need elbow length chemically resistant gloves, a hundreds of dollars venting system, full front rubber apron, safety glasses, and a n95 mask just to safely open a bottle of resin in the first place.
Louise, for those artists into this, it opens up a world of creative possibilities! I still absolutely love that mushroom lamp! Thanks for another great tutorial.
Wow,nice experimenting of laser engraving on resin piece,Ms Louise😍💜 .And loved the entire process of turning it into a masterpiece, loved that logo idea too much😍😍💜💜
GREAT experiments, Louise! You know I love your wonderful mushroom lamp, but the coaster, earrings, and other lamps are wonderful! 😍💕😊. I definitely love the leather backing and totally cool steel logo for the coaster! ❤
You are so clever, what wonderful idea’s you have in your creative life. Everything has turned out beautifully. Thank you so much Louise for sharing your talent with us x❤️
Make sure that you keep your lenses clean - you don't want that building up because it could cause problems. Same with everything, of course, but I recommend that you clean with an alcohol spray solution and a microfibre cloth after lasering resin.
Lovely outcome. However, I wouldn't use it. Goodness, what's going out the window and what's it's landing on Pets wildlife grass, etc. But I always look forward to watching your posts 🌻🫶🐈
