Literally picked up some Y-3 shoes last week and great to see them continuing down the more experimental route. The recent Adidas popularity probably also helps, and no doubt they're wanting to show new fans the creativity in some of their non-mainline collections. Collabs like Balenciaga x Adidas also shows there's an appetite for 'sportswear but make it fashion', and Y-3 can fit perfectly into that
this comes from a 50+ year old point of view, but imo yohji's y3 walked so jerry lorenzo's f.o.g. could run... in that y3 created a lane in the industry by which brands like f.o.g. could build on & thrive. y3 became rather homogenous (for y3) of late and i agree that it needed more of the experimental yohji energy to breathe some life back into it. this is a fabulous return to form. yohji is to the japanese design aesthetic what giorgio armani is to the italian aesthetic... that is to say that he is a MASTER and was one of my hero's as a young fashion design student in the late 80's. i STILL wear vintage yohji pieces that i've had for over 30 years! we need as much of him as we can get for as long as we can.
I’m an adidas employee and with a job + employee discount, I could finally afford Y-3 but I was disappointed by these past few years. I picked up some really nice pieces from SS23 but SS24… I’ll go broke once it releases
Adidas is really confusing business lol. They really have the biggest collab with the biggest brands in the world like Gucci, Balenci, and FOG, but also have more zeitgeisty collab with relatively small artsy independent brands like Craig Green, Song for The Mute, Botter, and Namesake with almost no exposure. But Y-3 literally always delivers the best version of Adidas you could think but the marketing machine is not that impressive.
I don't see how people are saying y3 is back it Never left . The linens and cottons . Recyclable are some of the best and most durable fabrics on the planet. From a brunch downtown to a dinner in Marina Delray y3 just makes sense and it's effortless style
I like watching your channel - young and hip - very cool - mainly 20 something - which is where you should be - but is there anything for 60 plus - this would be very interesting to us old people ( but still hip ) maybe zen-ip people
