The New York Yankees have failed to win the World Series since 2009, they finished the 2023 season with their worst record since 1992, and their fans have been calling for the firing of longtime GM Brian Cashman. With all this said, doesn't it feel like the Yankees aren't the Yankees anymore?

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed! With second and third year improvements from your young guns I'm sure this offense will be a lot more threatening next season. Also adding Juan Soto to that offense doesn't hurt...

Cashman gotta go.. Boone also gotta go DJ gotta go... If they can't resign Soto it was a BAD trade. Steinbrenner kids don't give a F about winning. As long as they are making money they aren't making the necessary changes

Yeah from a Phillies fan perspective, I feel the same about the Yankees. Growing up (mid-2000’s through early 2010’s) the Yankees were the “Big Bad Yankees”. I had a respectful fear of their franchise, they seemingly signed every big free agent every offseason, and they were like the only team to consistently have 3-4 All-Stars on the team. Nowadays super teams are more prevalent, more teams spend money and keep pace with the Yanks’ spending, and they haven’t won a championship in over a decade. The franchise’s aura has been gone for years now…think it’s a combination of reality that they’re no longer elite every year, but also just me growing up.

Thank you! It's strange to see the Yankees have a season like they did in 23. They went out and got Soto, Stroman and now potentially Snell this offseason so they could be right back in the race for playoffs. We'll just have to see.

To me, there was a clear point in time when the Yankees jumped the shark. In 2013, the Yankees entered the season with a depleted roster. That was OK, shit happens, and all things considered they made the best of it, getting by with patchwork, short term additions like Lyle Overbay, Mark Reynolds, Travis Hafner, and Vernon Wells. Hell, they added Alfonso Soriano midseason and honestly he might have been the best midseason Yankees addition of all time that year. They didn't have a very good year, but they honestly did the best they could. The following year was where it turned for the worse. It wasn't a ton of stuff at once, but that year, and the following year - two seasons -Cashman just decided he was OK with having Stephen Drew as their starting second baseman. Stephen Drew. He was the first domino in a new era of acceptance of mediocrity from the Yankees. Gone are the days when the Yankees have to have 9 legitimate high level MLBers at every position. Every team since then has had at least one Stephen Drew. Last year there were several.

You lost me near immediately when you talked about how age was a problem and brought up Rizzo getting a concussion. Age had nothing to do with what happened with Rizzo. Pre concussion, he was batting over .300 and was on pace for 30+ homers and 90+ RBI.
@3-0Greenlight

Sorry about that. I mentioned health was a limiting factor for him, that's why I said he was healthy in quotation marks. I included him into the conversation of the older players that underperformed because he was counted on as a big piece of the offense. Without him this team had no lefty bats. Which was definitely a big miss all season. It will be interesting to see if he's feeling 100% this season or not. Concussions are not easy.

I'm sorry about that! I did it end it positively though saying they made some key adds in areas they previously lacked. Coupled with the fact they already won 82 games it puts them right back into contention for the playoffs. What do you think about the Yankees offseason? Thank you for the support! What if I made a "New Era" of Yankees baseball video in the future? Highlight Volpe, Dominguez, Pereza...

There's not much to be positive about the Yankees. They signed a pitcher who seems to not want to be there and could be an excuse if he doesn't pitch well. Then who the hell knows what's gonna happen with Soto. My guess a season like last year and maybe a good enough team to make the first round of the playoffs.
