The Yankees are in a bit of a catch-22 with Judge. In order to have postseason success, they need him to be healthy and well rested going in to the playoffs. However, they are not good enough to make the playoffs with him missing 20% of their games.
Yankees fans blame the GM, but they’re the ones who put all the public pressure on him to give judge a terrible contract. Five years from now that will be one of the worst contracts in baseball. Giants don’t age well.
The bigger problem is that the DH spot is clogged by Stanton - and a bigger reason why Soto will be playing for the Mets or somebody else next year instead of resigning with the Yankees - because they will need the DH spot for Judge sooner than later, and Soto is already a DH/1B in waiting with his horrid OF defense.
their pitching is in shambles with Cole sidelined for 2+ months and Michael King gone. The Rodon contract is going to be a disaster to watch unfold. Rays will win the division.
I have a toe injury from years of running and other sports. My right big toe has lost 80% of it's flexibility and the nail is permanently damaged. It seriously affects my right knee as well. 'Toe injury' sounds so pathetic, but how your foot comes off the ground can have a massive impact on everything from your knees to your hips and all the way up your spine. Sports + getting older = pain.
Crazy all of this is coming right after he just signed his huge contract... He doesn't care. He got his money and he's laughing on the way to the bank with it.
It does make a huge difference in postseason. The guys of old you mentioned had another level in them in comparison to the level of play at the time. Nowadays the pitching velocities and movement border on the unhittable of which you will face the best in postseason. That's one of the reasons the Yankees' bats are often silenced in the play-offs. You can carry a couple of strike-out prone players, but you can't have a line-up of such players and expect to make it through 4 rounds of premier opposition.
@@johnshepherd9676 You're in denial that one of the richest of clubs, which spents heavily, does not know how to build a balanced roster. And the fanbase bears part of the responsibility as the club's big spending is all it takes to silence the Yankee crowd.....
So in order to favor that right toe, he has to over compensate with other parts of his anatomy in order to keep hitting home runs, his contract is turning more and more into the next Giancarlo Stanton contract.
Soto is the better player .hes more passionate about the game and plays everyday Judge seems as if he really doesn't give a shit if he's in the lineup or not Dude is a prima Donna
Why is everyone suprised, like he didn’t have a track record of injuries throughout his career. They signed him knowing that and he is on the wrong side of 30 now
If Judge played the whole season he could hit 40 to 50 hrs every year. But he keeps getting hurt. He hit a record 63 2 years ago and last year he hit 37 and missed , 50 games. But he keeps getting hurt
His size doesn’t favor him well. Eventually you have to make him the full time DH to keep him healthy and it looks like that’ll be sooner rather than later.
Torn big toe ligaments have ended the careers of multiple players in pro sports. They're no trivial matter. Judge will have to adjust to his new normal of no longer being able to put his full weight on his back foot when swinging.
@bigrich6075 yes I'm well aware. I lived through them. As well as the chokes of 01 and 04. This franchise has disgraced itself year in and out since 01 (09).
They need to move him to first next year and let Rizzo walk. Then have Dominguez Jones Soto from left to right in the outfield. That will pro long his career
So what do you suggest, that the guy doesnt play. You know, playing consist of risks. He tore a ligament while making a catch (part of the game, out of his control), he got hit by a pitch that broke something (out of his control) the oblique thing is the most he can control and again, such a massive man, generates tons for torque and power so its a trait to give when signing him.
Problem with the Yankees is that they’re injury prone and have no depth. One of their guys go down, and who do you have to replace them? No one notable. Compare them to the Orioles for example, who dealt with several injuries throughout last season but never skipped a beat. They had the ‘next man up’ mentality and it worked because they actually had good ‘next men.’
The Dodgers moved Mookie to the infield, it’s going to reduce injuries. Judge should play 1st or 3rd. 300 million should buy versatility…Harper, Mookie etc…many others in the past 2 decades if you want more
The fact that Judge is already "banged up" after a handful of spring training games is worrying. Doesn't bode well at all considering the rigors involved with the regular season. This already has the makings of another injury-plagued year for him.
Showing me analytics and complaining that most viewers aren’t subscribed. Doesn’t make me wanna subscribe. You say you want subs but not one comment gets a response or any sort of engagement from your end. Oh except for kid who says first gets a like. Keep it up.
Seems like you are just focusing on the now, I’ve been watching the Yankees since 2005 , and Judge is special! The same thing Soto is doing, Judge was doing it last year before the Toe Injury. He then did not get enough at bats in spring training . So yes he gets injured more than we want, but everyone in the MLB is getting injured like it’s their job lol. So you can’t call judge overrated with the competition that is out there . What if Ohtani starts getting hurt a ton, is he overrated? I don’t think so , he is just getting injured - you can’t control that .
Has not played a full season since the big contract it figures GM sucks and they don't sign a bona fide starting pitcher third place finish at best boone sucks Cashman should quit Hal should sell team
Rest him by making him a DH. Injuries fielding are more common. Mickey Mantles career saw him get a knee injury by stepping on a drainage grate in the outfield. You can reach in a bag and pull out a player with a good glove to play right field. Hitters like Judge are once every few decades.
@@maester2 you just need to be the most valuable hitter on the team for it to make sense. Also consider his contract. Are you familiar with investing? Call it managing risk.
Absolutely agree while judge is an amazing defender it’s his bat that earned his paycheck and we have enough outfield depth to move him to DH it’s really just Stanton that’s standing in the way of that
Judges contract is worth it because there's some owed back payment there. Signing talent from your farm system to that money will always be worth it over paying the same to someone coming in imo.
These guys get massive contracts abs all of a sudden there's 3 things permanently wrong with them. Makes me feel like it's on purpose. Judge isn't the only one. There's no need to hide anything after your contract is locked in.
I realized that it was catastrophic for him and the Yankees and not worth the heroics because he didn’t even get the out and even if he did it was poor judgment as it took whatever momentum the Yankees had and put them into a solor plexus punch psychologicaly situation. You are consiesience but you can’t get up . Arron Boone already looked like he was not in touch with how the season was going and after that he looked frantic and could not hide his bewilderement !!!
Judge can't hit in the playoffs and now the Yankees can't win a pre-season game. GM is a constant under achiever. I'm afraid it's another nothing season for the Yankees.
Judge can’t hit with RISP and/or the game is tied or they’re down a few runs. He can only hit those solo homers in the 1st or after someone else gets them ahead. He’s useless.
Door was NOT locked correctly. At the time i thought it might have neen on purpose. That series was super hyped here in the southLand . I still think the gate was not locked and latched on purpose but now i think it was lazyness
Their problem is that from a PR perspective they HAD to give him a 9 yr deal. They didn’t want to. We all knew it was a bad deal, the man is made of glass.
Dude got hit by a pitch and broke a bone. Slams into a wall and the door swings open. I can’t disagree with you more. I’ve never doubted Judges grit nor should you. Expecting him to play 150’games with a broken wrist?? Or a torn tendon in his foot while making a play? Come one man!?!? I mean if he hurt himself in a bad fight or drunk driving I could see being frustrated with him. There is no justification for being frustrated with Aaron
This is a bad take. A reallly really bad take. Absolutely not worth the money at age 30. Look at the arod deal, look at the Hamilton deal, look at the pujols deal. His body is going to shit the bed and they’ll be in a huge albatross. Bad move
@@migueleduardocabrera433 Spot the casual fan. The only two peoples who didnt break down in the late 30s were Bonds and Ortiz. I give him 2 more years before missing 80 games a season minimum, the rest of his career
Even if all 5 runs were earned, keep your head up! The best of the best have done a lot worse at any level. I assume you're young so the most important thing is to stay healthy! And keep grinding
@@iTalkStudios Yankees live rent free in your head. Your Redsox ain’t going anywhere! Make a video about your loser franchise that refuses to get Devers help. Stay jealous about Juan Soto being a Yankee! 😂😂😂😂
I'm a massive Yankees fan and Judge fan was upset hearing about the abdominal stuff going on before opening day especially with the whole Cole stuff but I just hope that Judge and the boys can pull through this year for the fans we need it
Avoid another Stanton. Train and prep him at 1B for when that bum Rizzo rolls out. Then they can replace his father, Giancarlo, when he finally fades away as well 👌
We're seeing in live time the result of the teacherman-style of smashing bombs (on your body). Its just like the stress elite pitchers put on their elbows needing tommy john, the stress on the forearm and hand to rip on the ball and have that elite spin-rate. Hes putting insane stress on his core and back to get into that coiled up position. The position that gives him the most barrel thru the strike zone, that lets you whip your body around and maximize reaction speed. That's destroying Judges core every day, every at bat.
Judge missed 50 games because he made a spectacular catch for 1 out. It would be unthinkable for a player to watch the ball drop on a play like this.. give up a double - but what if he did just that !? - he would be criticized ... but think of what that one catch cost the Yankees... and how it wasn't worth it at all... just sayin !
He’s such a waste of $$$. Always injured, can’t hit with RISP and it’s tied or they’re down a few….he can only hit those solo 1st inning shots or when someone else gets them ahead. Can’t stand him.
Judge's contract should have have come conditionally. First, he moves to first base to preserve his injury prone body. Otherwise you make money revocable for time spent off the field. Then you tie up money on the condition of winning Pennants and WS's. Otherwise you've learned nothing from the Arod contracts.
do yall not remember how he was injury prone in 2018-20? he played two years and now he's injury prone again, its just who this guy is, he's a big guy, he is gonna be hurt
Yankees have a lot of problems, the Dallas cowboys of MLB, as a disgruntled fan I hope they never make the playoffs again until Cashman and the analytics team is gone and they run it like a baseball team not another nyc tourist trap
Is he Sox fan? I’ve been listening to him for over a year now and I can’t say I know exactly who he roots for. He does a really good job of talking about all the teams.
I grew up in the same area as Judge about 35 years before him. Because of that I've admired and followed him til he used the Giants for leverage with the Yanks. Now I don't care about him at all or what his future holds. This report actually makes me feel good he's not a Giant.
Just explaining why I'd like a yank. Actually I'm pretty happy about not having to pay him all that so he can sit on the IL and collect his cash. Is that what you do, make a joke outta stuff other people say to make yourself feel like something? Grow up... @@josephcamillo3712
Was actually explaining why I'd like a Yank but it seems you look for a way to make yourself feel better than others. Grow up little boy@@josephcamillo3712
As someone who has had this exact injury just on my left big toe, it’s not really something that affects performance unless his injury is more serious than mine. Sure it’ll be a nagging nuisance but it will most likely won’t affect his performance as long as he doesn’t reinjure it. Which is probably the bigger worry here
