MK is apoplectic about Gil, almost everyday he can't suppress his over the top obsequiousness about Gil Don't get me wrong , the guy is on fire. But he previously had TJ surgery and he is predominantly a fastball pitcher. The amount of torque he places on his shoulder can't be sustained. I hope I'm wrong.
The problem in the second half of 2022 was there was no offense other than Judge. It was a home run or bust offense. 2024 the team can score in multiple ways and your have really good hitters around Judge. Stanton I consider a bonus. In 2022 he was a hitting beast until just before the All Star game and his legs broke down (he should never have been playing in the All Star game).
@@OroborusFMAYeah, plus hopefully Stanton is truly fitter than before as he claims and appears to be. His running is still such a red flag for me but I guess he’s in better shape considering his year so far. This team is just different than 2022 clearly. Not only that, the 2022 team lost Carpenter who was on fire as well as some arms. This year they just seem to have much more depth and higher performers in general
That team had IKF, Donaldson, and Hicks in the starting lineup. They over performed the whole first half of 2022. This team is much better and more built to last than that years team
The Yankee magic is just inconceivable for a Mets fan, they must be thinking how can the Yankees keep getting guys like this again and again. Having a guy like Gil pop up is a pipe dream for the Mets. Having a generational talent, or even two (and keeping them and not ruining their career) just doesn’t happen in Mets land. What do the Mets ever get, that stays with them? Like Don said, Ed Kranepool, Ed Kranepool… 😂
@@tboss5653 Nope. The AL East is weaker than the NL East. Plus Soto will be leaving in the winter. Mets only 3.5 games out anyways. They get on a little run and you never know.
@@Ryan-cb1ei when ownership isn't interested in putting an appropriate team together to try and win you start to see the fans give up. And honestly you can't blame them.
WARNING: The NYY can win 120 reg. Season. It doesn't mean they will go to the WS. It's a matter of making the right moves before the trade deadline. And, I think, the NYY neds to made another MEGA trade with the Florida Marlins before late...
Yankee "dominash" Jesus....Yankee boy Michael Kay on the Kool Aid. Of course he makes a subtle pro Cashman comment in that Kool Aid drink. Let's see that dominash in October. But don't worry Cashman won Michael's analysis in the spring
@@georgerosado7797A salary floor is never gonna be accepted because the small market owners don't want to be told what to spend. Also have you not seen all the bad contracts we've seen throughout the years? There's no guarantee that spending is led to wins, period. Tell me how Rendon is working out with the Angels? How about Javi Baez? Oh yeah, Xander Boagerts is now gonna be the next albatross for the Padres. You think the Guardians, Rays or any of these owners want to take those kinds of risk? Absolutely not. Neither the salary cap or salary floor are great for baseball, period.
Why? Have you not seen all the bad contracts in baseball? Are people gonna keep fooling themselves and not open their eyes? Teams don't want a salary floor, especially the small market owners because a lot of these contracts are bust and albatross that don't work out and will only set their organization back. Tell me how Rendon, Xander Boagerts, Javi Baez wood out? Oh yeah, how about Stephen Strasburg? Exactly, they were bad contracts signed and those teams are now paying the price for that. The key to success is drafting and developing. Also a salary cap is 🗑️🗑️ and will not make the league more competitive. Under a salary cap, service time manipulation is gonna increase and players don't want that.
As a Yankee fan, I’m ok with Juan not coming back. Hear me out. If we get ou bid so be it. And If Jones any Dominguez are as good as we say they are then our outfield will be fine.
It was basically a mirage. They stopped hitting and fizzled down the stretch; they beat the Guardians in the first round before getting killed by Houston, as I recall.
Longtime Yankees fan. If you're going to start out talking about the extreme inequity in the sport right now - which I agree with - don't you also have to factor in that specific situation (at least slightly) when talking about how amazing Gil's numbers are? (i.e. Pitchers are facing a lot of bad teams this year.) Just saying that - as expert baseball commentators - wouldn't you think they'd put 1 + 1 together and discuss both topics in tandem within the larger context of the overall 2024 season thus far? (Maybe they did during the full broadcast.)
Season of the ages??? Sounds like what all of us were saying exactly two years ago, and we know how that ended up. 1927, 1937, 1941, 1953, 1956, 1961, 1977, 1978, 1996, 1998, and 2009...those were seasons for the ages. Let's see if this bunch can get it done first.
I think when Cole returns, I'd send Cortes, who hasn't been very good to the bullpen and release Santana who has been dreadful all season. That's an easy roster decision if I'm Cashman
As a back-of-the-rotation guy this year, Cortes has been darned good. The front office has to see how it goes with Clarke Schmidt's recovery before making any decisions. And they also have to factor in any possible innings limit for Gil down the stretch.
@@PopOutPaulie Well now it all makes sense lol. Been a tough month, Knicks and Rangers chocked so my yanks is all i have til da Giants ruin da rest of my year😂
Probably after the All Star break. I get 2022 vibes from this team but the difference is that it isn’t just Judge this year. Soto, Volpe, Verdugo, and even Stanton at times are contributing. Not all 9 guys are going to be super stars. Also, their pitching has been stupidly good. Way better than I thought they would be.
Cleveland, Atlanta and Milwaukee might ask if you want to step outside and settle that argument. But yes, the disparity is particularly stark right now. However I don't think the disparity in the records of the top 8 or so teams will be nearly as drastic by the end of the season. Time will tell, but it's still relatively early. (And there's always the chance of an unexpected WS winner when all is said and done.....like last year).
@@joshuaambroise249Not as great as expected for sure - thus far - but it’s still early. (We’ve been unexpectedly overachieving - THUS FAR - without our ace. So just the opposite. There’s much time left for other surprises.)
@@joshuaambroise249 Just realized I automatically ASSumed, and implied, that you’re a Yankees fan in my reply. In case you’re not, the “we” I was referring to was other hopeful NY fans such as myself.
This season’s Yankees are the clear favourite to win the World Series: They have superb starting and relief pitching, an offense juggernaut, and depth in LeMahieu, Dominguez, and Berti. The catching tandem of Trevino and Wells complement each other. The only thing that might put a monkey wrench into the smooth operation of the gears might be some boneheaded managerial decisions by Aaron Boone during the playoffs.
Longtime Yankees fan. It's way too early to be talking about a clear favorite to win the WS. But their pitching has indeed been truly stunning thus far (not to mention their super scary top of the lineup). And you know the old saying: it's pitching that wins you titles. But it's still way too early...a lot can happen between now and Oct.
I love how Michael Kay constantly defends Cashman. I mean shutup already. We are not saying anything because he finally did something right and picked up Soto. It took him 15 years to potentially make it to the world series. He's not a HOF GM. Get over it!
I'm usually more of a glass-half-empty guy myself. But I'm feeling a lot more confident than usual this season. And in general I'm trying to be more like the last 2 Yankees' captains: not too high when we're streaking, not too low when we're slumping. Go Yanks!
