I think Jessica Jones is really the best way to have a Xena reboot, because it SO IS in SO MANY ways (come on, they even had the "gift of gab" line in the pilot. And you have a dark haired, tormented anti-heroine, with a blonde, female "sidekick" who means more to her than anyone else in the world). I see SO MUCH of Xena and Gab in Jessica and Trish. Go Liz Friedman, GO!

+Bitch of Rome Entertainment As much as I'd love to see a movie. This reboot idea that is coming has me greatly concerned. How can anyone possibly think of recasting two such iconic characters who WERE lucy and renee. They even admitted that they were the characters. You can't tell me that you can find such a pair of talented actresses, one with piercing blue eyes and one with green eyes, height matches etc. Too much has been filmed and written giving such detailed descriptions etc and the reboot folks want to make them into a Lesbian family. I love the subtext and wished more of it was maintext but to emphasize that AS maintext would simply ruin what was a fantastic series. Let's face it, it is over, the re runs go on, the actresses go on and the Xenaverse goes on. Thoughts?

+TheKira699 I feel the same way as you do too, I won't betray their hard work by watching two new comers who would try to take any credits at all for Lucy & Renee hard work. I found it very insulting to all of the originals fans and casts to even imagine such a thing. The reason why it last so long, may be it was for sure the subtext & the none explicit way the Love story was told, it was more intriguing & fun for us to imagine what could have been and for those fans who wanted just friendship between them could've even imagine that too, even if it's hard to believe that for them, it was way more than friendship between those two, as they would say, to each their own.That magical chimistry between them is irremplacable by anyone but them selves. Those two gave us the most beautiful Love story ever told in any series or movies no matter what the gender was that's it, unconditional and pure Love with such a magical twist between them, it was out of this world and too beautiful to even find the right words to describe it. They have as you said, such beautiful & expressive blue and green eyes, each and every emotions when through it, every times they felt something we were able to see it through their eyes also. No one on this planet would ever take their places in our hearts, that's it & that's all...

TheKira699 Maintext would have been a COMPLETELY different show, and considering the reboot is going straight to maintext (no pun intended), it already displays a complete lack of understanding of Xena's character. You could argue Xena is straight, but not gay; really what you should argue Xena is is bi. She had a wide range of relationships with men and women, especially Dark Xena, and by stating Xena is only into one gender or the other, you actually close a lot of doors. By being gay, you've now removed Caesar, Ares, and Borias (and thus Solan) and those complex relationships. It's also so CLEARLY *ONLY* being done to be sensational, and to add insult to injury, you know they will then spend the series breaking Xena and Gabrielle up over and over and over and over and over again like tv shows do to ALL couples. Yeah, cause THAT is the relationship we want to watch? :S Part of what I loved about the lack of defining Xena's sexuality was just that - the lack of defining it; it's not a big deal - she just is who she is. Xena is defined by her RELATIONSHIPS, not her fuck buddies. *eye roll* I would never watch a reboot, and even the idea of a revival made me cringe. Revivals tend to blow just as bad, if not worse than reboots. I'm really only okay with revivals when a show was cancelled and didn't get a proper ending, so really you're just getting a planned ending. But for shows that ended how they wanted to end? Just...STOP. Part of what made Xena so successful was because it was ORIGINAL. Heaven forbid we get something ORIGINAL anymore. I'm sick to death of reboots, revivals, adaptations, and the like. I WANT SOMETHING *NEW*! I won't be supporting anymore of any of those things (though I admit I love Rizzoli & Isles and Jessica Jones...but no more adaptions after that! Well...okay, if they are done WELL - and as these two shows show, some can be...but it's extremely rare).

This was a love story told correctly and to tell it any other way would be wrong. I'm totally glad that we all agree on this. It is a great pity however, that the 'reboot' moguls don't even consider what the fans want they just want to make something in their image.

Welcome to the Xenaverse! There's no reason you can't be a devoted Xenite now. We welcome hardcore nutballs (HCNB - Lucy's term of endearment for us) at any age! A-la-la-la-la-la! It is true the community was huge and easy to be a part of back then, but that doesn't make you any less a Xenite. All you have to do is love the show. ☺ That said, the best way to be part of what the Xenaverse embodied is to "be nice" - give back - giving to charity and being a force for good in the world is the core of what being part of the Xenaverse was and is. The only thing you can't be as a new Xenite is an old timer, and that's okay. As an old timer, there's few things I love as much as new Xenites finding the show! Oh, and it's just a fact the show would never have been what it was without Lucy Lawless.

Thank you for the incredibly warm welcome to the Xenaverse. It's truly heartwarming to see how being a Xenite is about our shared love for the show and community, regardless of age or time. +LivvieLockefan I agree completely with all your points for the relationship. You know, the thing is I have never seen Ares in that light, and it's funny that it didn't really hit me until I was making my "Familiar Taste of Poison" video: Ares, to me, was a metaphor for the temptation of the dark side. If you think about all the times Xena completely lost it and went Dark Xena, aside from "The Price," they were all episodes with Ares. Besides that, obviously he and Xena had a long and complex history (although that is also confusing because in "The Reckoning" it was established Xena had never seen him before....oh you YAXIs), so even if I had seen them as a relationship in the traditional sense, it would fall under the same header of having a backstory and relationship like Marcus and Perdicas. And I seem to be making people cry all over, so you're in good company. :D

I was fighting with what to put there because NOTHING was working with that fast, happy beat, and decided to try the Motherhood run, and just laughed so hard, I had to keep it and repeat it for 2:55. I'm so glad you like it. I've been wanting to make this video for over 10 years, so it was totally time. In general, the clips in this video go in order of the seasons. 1:01 is from "Ulysses" opening teaser (totally get why you'd have blocked "Useless" from your mind, though that little opening scene with them is one of the most adorable and hilarious). 1:30 is from "The Execution" when Gab's sees Meleager executed (or so she thinks, because Xena saves him of course). 1:36 is the final shot from "Orphan of War" as Xena is walking away from Solan (one of the single most heart wrenching moments in the entire series - damn, you so good, Lucy!!). 4:32 is from the opening teaser of "Remember Nothing" when Xena kills the one of the warriors attacking the temple and sees he's a young boy. 3:56 is from To Helicon and Back, yes. Right after Bane gets herself shot full of arrows and blown up (such a happy episode!). So we've learned from this that you need to re-watch season 2. *snicker*

I still can't watch it without starting to laugh and I've watched this video multiple times now alreaddy ;) Wow, 10 years? Awesome you got around in doing this then :D Lol, nice one, I'm gonna call Ulysses as 'Useless' from now on xD Didn't like that episode that much indeed. But now I remember that scene, when Gabby tried to get Xena to enjoy the coast :) That was adorable indeed. I do like Xena's face when she and Useless get onto the ship and see Gabby dancing xD But that's my sub-text mind, Xena likes what she sees, Gabby dancing and all. You see her pirk(?) up a bit :P Oh right now I remember! Gabby really thought he was hung :( Poor her :( Aww the whole Solan arc is indeed heartwrenching :( I feel so bad for Xena :( amazing acting indeed, Lucy :) I'm sure Daisy could have been her motivator/inspiration for that acting at that time and in the rest of the Solan arc :) Oh that young boy who attacke dher, now I remember :) Don't particularily like that episode eother. Maybe that's why I forgot xD Oh Helicon and Back.. That was a heartbreaking episode :( I have cried a few times during the series and that episode when I saw it for the first time was also one of them.. I guess I should re-watch that season huh? xD lol Thankfully, I'm rewatching the series with two different friends of mine. One of them, I'm at season 5 now, At that weird mermaid episode (which we might skipp) and with the other at season 2, a day in the life is where we are at^^

Yeah, it amuses me every time too. Does ANYONE like Useless (I didn't coin the name BTW)? It's just a terrible ep. I'm not a shipper, but I think I hate those Xena with random male love interest more than shippers do! :D I really dislike A&C for a lot of the same reasons. This is not the relationship I am watching the show for. That said, I always loved Marcus, but that character was well developed, and he and Xena had a long history. I also loved how no one batted an eye that the first male love interest for this rare female lead action show was African American. That was so awesome. But Useless? UUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH!!!!!!!!!! Perk. ;) I love that opening teaser scene with Gabrielle trying to get Xena to feel a sense of peace. Lucy is so bloody hilarious as Xena messing with Gab there. I just love it! Daisy probably was as Lucy's acting method tends to result from thinking about her own life experiences (vs Renee who does the opposite - she gets there through the character. It's why back in the day Lucy would say the only thing she and Renee didn't talk about was acting as they are polar opposites in their method). YOU DON'T LIKE REMEMBER NOTHING!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!?!?! HOW DO YOU NOT LIKE REMEMBER NOTHING!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! As soon as I finish the last of the videos for this celebration series, it's my full Xena-a-thon time. I am SO EXCITED! It's been too long. I usually rewatcehd the entire series at least once a year (with random eps viewing throughout the year), but I was so busy with school the last two years, that I didn't have the time. Xena is one of the few shows where, even today, when I watch Xena, I am ONLY watching Xena; I don't do ANYTHING else when I watch it (the only other series I do that for is Penny Dreadful)

That is one of the reasons but mostly because they're random and hardly know each other.. Marcus indeed had a background story, he was nice :) I too thought it was pretty cool he was African American! Yey for diversity andpushing boundries in this series, esspecially since it's from the 90's. Tnx :) Yes Lucy is brilliant messing with Gabby and the other way aorund too. I love their bantering and playfully turturing each other like they sometimes do xD It's so much fun to watch and Lucy and Renee both are great actresses :) They are? I did not know that. I thought they both used life experiences. Nice to know how they DO work, tnx for filling me in :) I DIDN'T SAY I HATED IT, I JUST LIKE OTHER EPISODE MORE!!!!!!! Lol, I don't know.. It didn't really catch my interest as other eps did, sorry :P As for memory related episodes, I like 'Forget me not' more. But I havn't seen Remember nothing in quite some time. I remember not liking it that much but once I watched it again thinking I liked it more than before and I still do, but other episodes I like more is a better way to put it^^ I did really like why/when Xena decided to turn her Fate around, that it wasn;t worth it and te Gabrielle she knew wasn;t present anyore. It was a very important scene though, I must admit :) I know what you mean. It's so much fun to re-watch the series again in order or watch random eps :) I'm afan since around 2 years now and still full in fan-girl mode xD This series is just special, like NON else and ALWAYS will be. NO series can top this one in my furture life I'm sure of it!

But, I completely agree - the reason the random romance of the week bothered me was because, um....you do not know this person. Marcus worked because of the backstory, but also because Bobby just really did a fantastic job with the role, and he and Lucy played well off of each other. Yep, polar opposites. In my experience most actors don't work off their own personal experiences, and as both a director and acting teacher myself, I never ever start with that with any actor I work with (unless I know ahead of time they use that method). It can be a really quick way to access an emotion, but it can also: 1) Cause personal reactions (a person might not be able to turn this off. It's especially bad to use in a school setting as you unzip a kid and then send them off to math class thinking about their mother that died for example). 2) Not everyone can translate personal experience to events in a character's life as you have no comparison. ie: you are playing a Rwandan genocide survivor, but you've lived a sheltered, good life in Canada. How on earth can your personal experiences compare and connect to this character? That said, some actors, like Lucy, pull this off brilliantly. But, no, Renee doesn't use this method. She approaches the role as the character, which is the more common approach most people use, though even within that there's a wide range of methods. But I agree with Adrienne Wilkinson's teacher, Ken Lerner, who learned from Roy London: use whatever the hell works for you! :D Okay, fair enough to not be your fav, but I thought you were saying you don't like it. That's just crazy. ;) No, kidding - to each their own. I've just yet to meet a Xenite that doesn't love the ep. Oh, you are such a newbie! Welcome! I am an old timer Xenite - been watching since Lucy first stepped onto Hercules (completely by accident as I did not watch Hercules - my brother was watching and I happened to walk in the room just as Lucy came on. I sighed, "Enter Hercules, stage right" to save her...but then she STARTED KICKING ASS!!!!! OMG!!! And I was in love. ;)

This is an OLD song. It's from her "Next" album from 1997. She last released an album in 2009.
