Fun fact. Your visit to South Gare was the location of a movie I worked on earlier this year. It's called 'Jackdaw'. We also filmed in between those wind turbines out at sea. Very cold and windy 😮

Great to see Staithes. You have reminded me how beautiful it is. Must get back there soon, So much to see, so little time. Really loved the drone shots with mood music accompaniment. Very Frederico Felliniesque I thought, expected the last shot to be Claire riding into the sunset on a 1950's Lambretta. Great stuff. We went to Spurn Point last week which must be the most easterly point in Yorkshire. That's a very otherworldly place too. Keep taking the tablets. Stay cool Cx 😎❤

What you were driving past was the remains of a blast furnace at the begging of the vlog. The steel for Sydney harbour bridge was made there. You're right in my neck of the woods. I live about 8 miles from there. Another cracking vlog guys....

Lovely footage of Staithes, never been there but became aware of it as i believe it's where they filmed some of the outside shots for the old BBC childrens programme "Old Jack's Boat" with the late Bernard Cribbins. I must travel up country and see these lovely places! Great video.

The south gare is owned by pd ports but has allways been open to the public,was lovely yrs ago but the amount of campervans there now is ridiculous

Visited Staiths a few years ago, we had a scone and tea. My husband remembers it well..... we were charged a fortune for it!! Enjoyed Robin Hoods Bay better, & found a great cafe there. Caro

If you were there a couple of years ago you'd have seen an abandoned blast furnace.

South Gare is surrounded by heavy industry wreckage, covered in litter left by careless visitors and jammed full of chaotically parked motorhomes but apparently it is the wind turbines that are an eyesore.

South Gare is amazing isn't it. We went there for breakfast after spending the night in a car park in Saltburn (we know how to live). We were almost put off by all those intimidating signs as you drive in but we persisted and it was well worth it. A strange and beautiful van-world. When I saw all those green huts I remembered watching someone paint them in an episode of Landscape Artist of the Year. Odd choice. They could have painted the blast furnace...

I do think it was steal works on the left, and Vera was filmed in the fishing huts

I remember bottles of milk at school , in wintertime they would freeze up and you only had 10mins to try and thaw it out with your tiny 6 year old hands and trying to drink through a stupid paper straw that would flatten at the first sign of moisture ! But then you would try and use your tiny 6 year old fingers to scoop out and consume the ice frozen milk resulting in a huge brain freeze migraine and frost bitten fingers that would last all day ! 🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️ , but that’s what made us tough men we are today ! .in summer it went sour so you end up getting the shits and have to try to use tracing paper bog roll ! But it made us hard men and appreciative of Andrex 👍🏻👏🏻

I love locally the vans have totally spoilt the gare, it used to be such a pleasant place to have a walk, Is there any waste facilities ?

Andy & Clare, thank you for producing this. Sad but all true I'm afraid. My wife has seen it and has forbidden me to go fishing there ever again! I think you both should give up your day-jobs and do this as a career. I would be more than happy to pay to see similar videos of parts of the country nobody believed existed. It wouldn't be the same without Claire's comments mind you. I was expecting Peter Kay & Co suddenly to appear walking/wheelchairing down the road towards you. I'm from redcar everyone commenting saying the south gate is a park up, it is not it is private land which was previously owned by British steal, there never use to be that many campervans down there, now they use it as a party location and are ruining the local area!!

That weird road with all the flytipping signs, it belonged to all the chemical factories that used to be behind that big steel fence. in the 80's there used to be yellow sulphur gas coming out of the actual sand dunes oppositte and it was disgusting. all the pools on the marshes were oily and stunk. Now it's a nature reserve and has loads of extremely rare plants and birds. My grandad had one of them green huts during the war, it's called Paddy's hole. I've not been there for years, so it's nice to see that campervans are enjoying it down there. Awful view of industrial Teesside and the windfarm though!

South Gare is a great overnight stay. We've stopped there twice now and had no issues at all. It's town centre of Redcar that scares us. We was sat on the front eating a chippy tea and a chap that looked in his late 20s stopped picked up a dog bowl from off the floor and drank from it about 4 times then put it back down and just carried on walking 🤮🤷🏼‍♂️😳😱 needless to say we couldn't finish our food after seeing this.

Not unusual for travellers to park on private property.

I wish youtubers would stop giving park up locations away that then go on to be swamped by vans caravans rooftents and ground tents, South gare was a peaceful place but I have stopped going there due to everyone walking about with cameras and people drinking so much and smoking weed then fighting in the early hours with police having to be called everytime, PD ports will kick off everyone soon the way it's gone in such a short time, Van life isn't about youtube videos drinking and getting high spoiling it for everyone so please why can't people stop giving park up locations away just for the sake of a video

These RU-vid stars always gives up good locations when parking up, and the affect ( that doesn't bother the look at what quiet beautiful spot we found RU-vid stars) well that's another place off the map ad everyone with a camper van will and have helped to destroy another place, look at the annoyance and parking anywhere they like( no confirmation for the locals) on the Scottish coast, little town's etc) and some stars then post negative videos when they are parked overnight in quiet roads, supermarket carparks etc moaning they have been either disturbed or a attemptd break in overnight, there really needs to have proper legal sites for these new darlings of RU-vid to park up in peace and not anywhere they think they are entitled to, as that attitude spoils it for the rest of us abd the local residents

This is the BS I've seen on a public footpath no entry private land and then a more signs that nobody reads because it "private"? As it's private put all the signs up you like? Cheaper to get a gate with a lock on it? Except it not private is it? Having identified this ‘ unknown’ location full of campervans etc etc in my opinion you missed a great opportunity to tell us the what , why and how about this place. Ok the caption told us it was a blast furnace so why not describe what it did , why was it there etc . Perhaps interviewed some of those living there? So what was the point of this video as you two are pleasant enough but not interesting individuals. Watching someone drinking tea , coffee or dog walking seems self indulgent and pointless.

We love that coastline! So much so that we did a seasonal pitch for summer 2021 near Robin Hoods Bay. Strangely, we never ventured to Redcar, but the next time we are up there, we are going to make a conscious effort to drive straight on by 🫡.
