As a frenchman I have been waiting my entire life for one of our players to win a Slam. If he's the one to achieve it, he will be a massive star here. But we have learned not to get our hopes up. I remain cautiously optimistic. Cracking the top 50 is already very good. He has already won an ATP event. He has earned the right to dream big. I'll be along for the ride.

If I look at both his game, team, and mentality - I truly think he's better setup than the players of last gen (Tsonga, Gastque, and Monfils - my apologies if I spelled any wrong). He seems hungrier than Gastque was at his age, I saw an interview once where Richard basically said I'm not Rafa since they are the same age and that mentality I think limited him. He also seems more level headed than Monfils. I'm a huge Gael fan, but early in his career he missed opportunities due to his mentality. Tsonga... you know I think he was more injury prone which limited him. He made a slam final he has a few Masters 1000s. To me, he's a little like Marat or Del Potro where injury and frustration hampered them. But I'm super hopeful for Fils!

@@ivanhall6482 totally disagree, Tsonga was a gs finalist and a Big contender since young age, he was labelled as one of the next Big thing alongside guys like Djokovic and Murray (i don't mention Nadal cause he was already at the top with Roger at the time he stormed the tour in 2008) and was hindered by.injuroes and some inconsistency, Filos still young but having a serve, a big fh and a competitive mindset doesnt make him a gs prospect yet, he hasnt show anything that excels the one You mentioned at similar age (Monfils, gasquet and Even Simon were already really good too)

A very annoying attitude that has taken hold in the tennis scene. Saw him a few times and He behaved very arrogantly for such a young player who has reached nothing as per yet. A bit more humbleness and sportsmanship would stand such a young and extremely talented player very well. I just hope his trainers will Put him in the right direction.
