@@CarutoDeath Note is what you get when your writer understands NOTHING about the core audience, the source material, and possibly suspense in general
The guy playing Luffy needs some work but Sanji and especially Zoro who was coming from acting in the Kenshin movies did their thing…but Luffy is a brawler with a few special moves so in time the guy playing him can get better in fight scenes
Fikshun isnt someone i expected to see here But yeah High and Low is a great series for anyone that likes delinquents and fighting, so basically the cool parts of Tokyo Revengers without Takemitchy. Personally I'd recommend going through the whole series, but The Worst is a good standalone if you just want the fights, its the first one I watched afterall.
dude the adaptation was SO GOOD. i was SO PLEASNATLY SURPRISED at how well it came out and the attention to detail they paid. like kuwabara giving yukina the dopey love-stuck look, and hiei roasting the shit out of him LOL. like for what it was, they did awesome, they did such a good job with what they had and they gave it 100%. i know they had to condense the story and i didnt mind any of the changes they made, in some places they actually fixed some of the plot and made it flow better imo, and ive been a avid yyh fan for 30 years. like adaptations do not need to be an exact remake of the anime, they hit every key point in the story and gave me something new to watch that kept my attention and was genuinely interesting and enjoyable to watch. my husband isnt a fan of yyh but after seeing the adaptation LOVED IT, didnt even kno wtf he was watching but he fell in love with the action and how creepy and well put together it was. ppl gonna hate and thats fine, but they killed it with this, it's up there with 1 peice currently.
it was a honestly okay, truck kun was definitely wild'n in live action, the only thing that really bothered me was hiei for some reason lmao i couldnt with lil homie, but this hoe definitely a hood classic they was boxin fr
Im so glad to hear ANYONE giving this show the praise it deserves!!! For me, the choreography, the set design, the effects, the costuming…. ITS INCREDIBLE IM ACTUALLY OBSESSED AHAHA
definitely agree, the action scenes are superb, so far the best i have seen in any live action so far. this should now set the standard for any LA moving forward.. before watching this, i had my expectations set very low due to how LA went so far prior to this, and boy was i wrong... can hardly wait now for the season2, i really do hope they make a season2 for htis.
Yu yu hakusho is one of first anime I've watched as a little 90s kid way before one piece. This anime gets me hooked in. I admit the live actions fighting scenes and some amazing Cgi, but I, with only 5 episodes, I felt that the story got rushed and missed a lot of good parts. Like his death and revive with a kiss. Even one piece live action has questionable cgi it still the best live action. Again, I love both anime and manga of Yyh and Op
Those hands! I had issues with some changes, like how our homies end up training under Genkai without having to prove themselves or how unearned Yusuke’s wave orb felt after Gebkai was talking all that good shit about Yusuke not amounting to anything, but the fights made up for it.
@@Paralianpoet It sounds outdated because you probably didn't watch it, the changes that were left out described and gave a reason why they were picked among the others to train under Genkai. If you leave it out, you make the characters look like they were completely the chosen ones and gives no weight in the story.
I knew they wouldn’t let me down with the live-action on YU YU. It would’ve been criminal, but I knew this gonna be verified when my man’s got ran over. That’s when I knew it was gonna be heat
Love the show or hate the show THIS is the gold standard of how live action anime choreography should be done. This clears One Piece by a mile when it comes to the action.
the only people who believe this is yyh fans😂the zorro fight with mihawk/black cats alone solos the entire choreography of yyh...the pacing and character building was mildly bad since they decided to leave out the tournament which was what made fans have emotions for a character like hiei who they butchered in here(story wise). rushed ahh powerscaling during the training with genkai and the last episode where he fought toguro. the cgi was majority times good but I laughed at the last episodes with how toguro was moving😂 and when he spoke to genkai on the stairway, the cgi there was so bad that they should've left that part out. theres a reason alot of people during the first week watched one piece live action and why one piece got rated higher within the first 24 hours then yyh throughout the week
Jumping to conclusions is a hell of a thing. I am way more of a One Piece fan that a YYH fan. The OP live action is better in every possible way from how they adapted the story to the characters even the actors they chose to bring the One Piece characters to life. All I meant is that the action could have been improved and hopefully with the success of the first season maybe the budget in that department will be increased. ofc the action is very diff from YYH with the devil fruit powers so maybe that could have been a factor. So when i said it "clears it" i was coming from the point of view of just brain off pure action and choreography. Having a better story will always make an action scene better since u care more. SO I'm looking for the love and care of the OP mixed with a lil more intensity from YYH. Nice to meet you as we all wait for the second season of OP ✌@@nahhyourwrong
This show gives me hope for anime live action movies now and shows if I’m being honest this show made yu yu hakusho more consumable for a wider audience
I don't see how you would think that but to teach their own. I'd rather that they have done YuYu using cgi in the fashion of FF: Advent children instead of live action.
The fight choreography saved this coming from seeing the anime/manga, going into this blind I can see people enjoying this for being a supernatural action show…that aside 5 episodes is criminal 8 would’ve gave this the grace it needed and but have to force so much so soon into the story
For a 5 episode show that’s supposed to cover 50+ anime episodes, i would have to give it 8/10. They missed a lot of good side characters specially the ones from the tournament.
We shouldn’t have even gotten to the tournament even if they’re rushing things, 5 episodes was way too short 8 would’ve helped tremendously too much was cut out to be a 8/10 honestly
If they would have replaced Toguro with the saint beast arc, it would have been much better. But it’s still a good live action before the third episode
They should've stuck to the script and had Yusuke fight for the three artifacts. Then have season 2 focus on beast saints arc. Now I'm hoping that there is no season 2. Season 2 will pretty much be the black tape and the Makai tournament all rolled in one.
Honestly I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I said it once and I’ll say it again. I had too much love for this series to not give this live action a chance. And I really enjoyed it. Only thing I’ll say is that the pacing was too fast. But as another commenter said they are not guaranteed a season 2 so they had to do what they did. I’ll take what I get man. Still enjoyed it.
The Yu Yu Hakusho live action did the action scenes better than One Piece live action, but the One Piece live action had a better story than the Yu Yu Hakusho live action. Both live actions were amazing in cinematography and costume/wardrobe and I loved them both!! Let’s keep the momentum going with Avatar The Last Airbender next year! 👏👏👌
Bruh the gradual shift in movement by the possessed dude was nuts especially the way he ran after Yusuke literally on his back they definitely went crazy with the choreography I just wish they were brave enough to draw the story out and add the saint beasts
In terms of action, they did an impressive job. Might even go as far as to say, the action is lowkey better than a lot of fights in the original series. The series in terms of story is extremely rushed tho. A lot of development & iconic moments have been cut, in replace for flashy action scenes. They did the best they could for how much limited time & resources they had.... I guess.
No bs, I liked it better in Japanese. The English VA for Yusuke felt kinda flat but maybe that’s just me. Not too much to say about the actors, they played their roles well. Overall, This shit was heat though
@@StrawHatCloud4116 Yep. The guy playing Kurama in the dub is Johnny Yong Bosch, the English VA for Ichigo, Lelouch, Vash the Sampede, Sasori, and Sabo, Kuwabara is voiced by Ryan Colt Levy, (Denji from Chainsaw Man) Jennie Kwan as Keiko (Tsuki from Avatar: The Last Airbender) and Kaiji Tang (Gojo) and Keith Silverstein (Hisoka) as the younger and older Toguro.
i remember the western audience complaining about toguro not being buff enough to play toguro, but toguro looked exactly like how toguro should look. the dude looked like a spitting image of him if u put his face side by side to the anime. kurama was my favorite in his yokai form though, only wish his part was longer. nextflix shouldve gave the show more episodes damn it.
Went in blind but definitely watching yu yu hakusho next The world detail was insane! The action and the effects (especially 'destruction of world') made it that much more believable The story /power scaling did feel rushed (like i dont believe the combat power up with the first major fight - gouki ep2 of the live action// ep 7 of the anime ). But i watched 5 episodes in one sitting so i cant complain at all
I agree 💯 Hiei is my favorite character too and the actor portraying him missed the mark. In fact, I felt that Genkai was the main one besides Toguro elder and Karasu who were spot on. The fighting and stunt work made the real difference.
Yu Yu Hakusho was my first anime and will forever be the BEST of all anime... I TRULY would have preferred this got WAYYYYY more episodes to do better/right... But, it was still pretty fkn great in spite of everything and I really hope that people that liked this show end up finding the anime because of it
This is one of the few times I actually liked what the story differences were from the original. Usually things feel worse, but this was a pretty good 'reimagining' even if it misses some of the biggest most powerful scenes in the original.
I'm glad its not just me that enjoyed this I've seen some negativity around this but I'm loving it hell it even did a good job with Yusuke's wake in episode 1 even in live action the scene with kuwabara hit me in the feels this is why you don't listen to reviewers 100% it's cool to take advice from them but you gotta make up your own mind
Other than the possibility that they couldn't get the effects to look right. I guess they used the budget on the fights and the effects. I guess that if they get greenlight for a second season it will most likely be covering Chapter Black. They gave a few hints pointing to it already. And I believe that having much less episodes they need Koenma to be perceived in a certain way to begin with.
Man's ain't never seen somebody get hit by a car even in GTA. That shit so obviously CGI that it hurts my brain thinking that you think that looks real gang...
Even though it felt sorta rushed I enjoyed the acting, they were able to embody the original characters personalities pretty well. I was expecting Kuwabara to have crazier hair though
Yu Yu Hakusho, anime, is my favorite anime. I love how they adapted to a new format. I love their take on the characters, the way they streamlined the arcs and the well choreographed and dynamic fights.totally would recommend to anyone that isn't ready to watch 103 episodes. Amazing video essay.
Love all the comparisons between Hiei and Sasuke, because it's true lol Sasuke is inspired/based off of Hiei. Nice to see someone appreciating the YYH live action. I'm only disappointed they decided to axe the dark tournament. Other than that, I agree the choreography, effects, and acting was awesome.
