In Jonathan Glazer’s 2023 historical drama film, “The Zone of Interest,” we are transported to the heart of one of history’s darkest chapters-the Auschwitz camp during World War II. Based on Martin Amis’s 2014 novel, this gripping cinematic experience delves into the complexities of human relationships, morality, and survival in the most harrowing of circumstances.

So basically we are to applaud the fact that this Jewish director is so progressive that he is able to interpret this story from the perspective that Israel is compared to the Nazis, we can breathe a sigh of relief because he is not denying that the Holocaust happened he is only trying to prove that now the roles have been reversed and Israel is now the evil agressor. All those kibbutzim and settlements that were attacked on October 7 were versions of the Hoss family's home living alongside Gaza the "open air concentration camp"?? Unbelievable! This is manipulative and calculating and still a skewing of the truth.

The film was made before Oct 7th. However, the comparisons of the holocaust and what Israel has and is doing to the people of Palestine are valid. There is no more justification for what Israel is up to than there is for what happened in the holocaust. If Israel is to survive, Israel must change. The age of colonialism is over regardless of how desperately Israel fights to maintain it in Palestine. Although there is plenty of red paint throughout this conflict, the fact remains that the pre-eminent obstacle to peace is Israel's colonisation of Palestine. Israel can not win against the changes of the times we are now in. There is no going back to a time when colonialism was seen as acceptable or even as being positive.

Hello. I watched many analyzes about The Zone of Interest and in some of them the theme of "Gaza" always come to the surface, as in your video. To mention Gaza when analyzing The Zone of Interest is to place Israel and the Jews in the position of "the victims of the past who now take revenge" or repeat what Nazis did to them. It is an easy comparison. Jews try to live in peace with the Muslims who live in Israel but Hamas' desire has always been to exterminate the Jews, as is evident in its actions on October 7th 2023. You try to cast Jews as violent terrorists, there is not a single mention in your video of the initial attack that killed over 1,300 Jews. Do not see this same accusatory vehemence regarding the massacre in Syria, where by now has more than 311,000 innocent civilians dead. Or the annihilation of hundreds of civilians in Ukraine. What matters now is the most recent conflict. We are selective. And if Jews are involved, it is even more interesting. Thousands of people said the same thing to the Allied Forces in World War II: "Stop it, don't bomb Germany, think about the civilian victims down there who will die..." Ah, if the Allies had listened, Hitler would have killed two-thirds of Europeans.

My thoughts: Since the Gaza issue has been very prominent, it came to my mind and I mentioned it. I also condemn Hamas and I am very sorry for all the innocent people who died. I am against all actions against innocent people, regardless of religion or any ethnic groups. In short, I am against all murderers. No matter who the killer is. Ps: What I remember from my visit to Israel is that the people that I met there were very hospitable, kind and friendly. .

Whether it's one state or two, I expect that the only way forward to a sustainable future here is equal rights for all. Israelis are here to stay, and Palestinians have to accept this. Palestinians are here to stay, and not only does Israel have to accept this but recognize that Palestinians deserve equal rights in the land they were displaced and excluded from. Not "separate but equal" but actual equally. Not you don't belong here because we colonized your land, and your existence doesn't fit our agenda. No more Palestinian concentration camps. No more bulldozing Palestinian homes and farms, no more confiscation of Palestinian resources. No more separate Palestinian IDs (remember the yellow stars?). No more denying Palestinians access to any part of Israel, including roads, settlements, services, and voting. Palestinians must have the same rights as all other citizens in Israel. The idea of creating a Jewish settler state in the Middle East was at least as stupid as the plan to send blacks back to Africa, but here we are. What happened to the Jewish people of Europe was absolutely horrific. However, those people had not lived in the Middle East for a couple thousand years, nor did the people of Palestine have anything to do with the holocaust. If a Jewish state was to happen, it would have made more sense to carve it out in Europe as that's where most of the settlers were from. But displacing a bunch of Europeans was too problematic. Zionists had much less resistance to doing so in Palestine as Palestinians were(are) considered to be less human and without human rights compared with Westerners. There is no justification for what Israel has and is doing to the people they pretend never existed (a land without a people).
