Theatre Kid Reacts to Band-Maid: Thrill 

Hey, just a reminder that it's almost valentine's day and I want you to know that you are loved by me!

This is their first official music video back in 2014 that started it all.

This is the video that really got the Band-Maid train started! 2 million views in two weeks convinced the band to stay the course, much to Maidiac's delight!

Be nice to Charis, she's a sweetheart! 🙂 This is them at the very beginning, before they wrote their music. In fact both songs you've seen were written for them. The songs they write for themselves are better. The rhythm guitarist, Miku (red flower in her hair) writes the lyrics. She had no idea how to play guitar in this video, but she's a pretty good rhythm player now. The bassist/drummer/lead guitarist are top notch, tho.

Their image is more valid than many others, because... Band... MAID? This is one of their earlier songs. Not my top 20 musically, but still very important. At this time it was make or break. Their record company have been considering dropping them. When the video was released it took of, but not in Japan as expected, but abroad on social networks. Faith was restored and rest is history. While "Thrill" was written for them, "Freedom" was partly since Miku got the chance to do the lyrics. So in theory next should be "Alone"? It was their first "own" song. Composed by Kanami while Miku took care of the lyrics.

this mv was released 7 yrs ago, so they look really young. :D

Thank you for reacting to Band-Maid, my favorite band of all time. This is the first Band-Maid song I heard and is the song that got me interested in Band-Maid. This is 2014 and they are already pretty good musicians. As of 2022, they have established their own style or genre if you will, I call it the genre of Band-Maid. Their compositions and musical skills have reached top level.

This 2015 video was the make-it-or-break-it video for Band Maid. In fact at this point Miku couldn't even play the guitar since she thought she was only going to be a vocalist in the band. However this video did so well they decided that Band-Maid was going to be a successful project and that gave them the exposure and financial wherewithal to get started. This is before Misa and Saiki started dressing Gothic. Band-Maid is Jimmy Page approved!

So, this was one of their first MVs before their label let them start recording their own songs. So Thrill was written for them. For a cool MV with their own song, check out After Life. You'll love it. And note that they are trying to make a statement with the maid outfits and bad ass hard rock. Don't sell girls short! Even if they're cute. Even if they dress like maids.

Nice job on Thrill, but NOW, watch the official live video for Freedom, then the official live video for Domination. You will notice that their musicianship has really grown since Thrill was made some seven years ago. Then, watch the live versions of Play, Dice, and the dual video of Manners and Black Hole live. You will not be sorry. Make a week of it! Lol.

BAND-MAID isn't kawaii but they strive for GAP. Kawaii is when you try to bring sweetness into things. GAP it the difference between the first and the second reaction- what you experience the second time. The idea is you gonna get is: they can accually do this!

In a way, Band-Maid is like Slipknot: they both have the gimmicky appearance, but they are talented enough that they don't need it and it doesn't take away from their music, either.

That bass player has incredible tone! A lot of bass tracks are lost in the mix, not here! First time hearing this band, they kill it! Really sticky riffs! Also, the drummer is playing a Jon Bonham set up from Led Zeppelin. That's cool! She's doing a lot with what she has!

Hey Charis. Here is a fan of your reactions especially for Nightwish & Floor. With all my respect to Band-Maid, which I also love, I know a band that I am 100% sure you will like. It is a 3 sisters rock band from Mexico called The Warning. Although they are so young (17,20,22), they’ve already finished their 3rd album. They are great musicians, songwriters and amazing performers. I know you will like them since their stage presences are off the charts. I hope you will give them a chance. I can suggest any song from their RU-vid channel. I’d suggest Disciple Official video or Animosty Live Session for a start. However, just for you, I will go unorthodox. Try Crimson Queen live at Lunario. You will love it. Sorry for the long comment ✌️🥰

Thrill is really what kick-started Band-Maid's journey to become a hard rock band. The group started in 2013, but a year before Thrill (2014) received over two million views in the first weeks of release on Facebook, the Maids hadn't played much rock music at all. And the 2nd guitarist, founder and lyricist, Miku, didn't even know how to play guitar. It's an incredible story and we are so lucky they stayed together during those early years to become, in my mind, the best hard rock band on the planet! Thx, Charis!

A thing about the maid outfits - As Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip "poor tortured artists" clothes... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power, which is important theme with the Maids. Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working. Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!

H Charisi, great reaction...but they don't have a niche, they own the whole 'cemetery'. Honestly, they are the best band in the world and you are going to discover them by your own and picking any song, no problem, but better live. You did 'Freedom' amazing but poppier than usual and now 'Thrill' when they were in the kindegarden. Now, they are THE TOTAL BAND and I will not fight a centimeter for it. It's a matter of time but is going to be soon, very soon. They are A MIRACLE for the music, just saying it and, again, the best band in the world of females, males, animals or sinthetics things...and I will not fight another opinion. Nop
