I've never seen any evidence of this whatsoever. People just repeat this because they've seen it in comments time and again (seems to happen with a lot of ‘facts’ in the reaction scene). I think people get confused when they see the word ‘operatic’, which a lot of music marketers and reviewers have used over the years to describe powerful or somewhat theatrical voices, rather than to mean the literal style of singing as used in opera. Howard Jones is a great singer-his cleans are amongst my favourites in metal-but he was never trained in opera, and there are no sources coming from him that state that he is that I've ever been able to find.
@@tunguska-1454 I agree. I listened to an interview with him and Chris Jericho. Howard said how he got involved into singing and it all started when he would sing in his church choir when he was very young. He said that helped prep him for his music career.

@@tunguska-1454 People confuse big vibratto with Opera. While having vibratto is operatic, the techniques are vastly different. And like you said, there's no evidence anywhere that said he's a trained opera singer. Church choir isn't opera either
That and I’m glad that Mr Dines is a part of this project too very talented musician and clean/unclean vocalist as well but I love Howard’s clean vocals so different and unique!
Man that's no lie Howard is in my top 5 "core" singers and I'm 49 playing drums in a groove/metal/god knows what core band anytime I've seen him he exudes this passion for the stage and if I've learned one thing about music it's if the band is enjoying there performance so is the crowd. Stay hard-core Bird.

@@CharisSellick he is no longer in Killswitch Engage. Sion is a brand new project(this is their first video/sing). His only full time band right now is Light The Torch. He’s also been in other bands in the far past. But Killswitch is where he got his notoriety from.
Howard jones cleans are that good that even though you fully expect them to be amazing they still blow you away every damn time. He's the god of metalcore
Howard Jones is one of the best metal vocalists ever.. have a listen to killswitch engage "the rose of sharyn". He and Jared worked together when they filled in for the band Trivium, Sion is Howard's middle name. Sooooooo stoked for Howard coming back from his health issues over the last couple years with a friggin BANG! Light the Torch is amazing and their live shows are straight up classic Howard intensity along with all of his guest vocal appearances with several metal bands including Killswitch Engage and now teaming up with one of the greatest all-around metal/heavy rock muscians today Mr. Jared Dines to form SION! I’m sure it’s already been said but, the guitarist is a RU-vid guitarist named Jared Dines. That’s why this song has so much up front guitar. It’s basically the second voice for the song. Howard and Jared got together for this. Which is awesome.
You are the first react I have seen where its someone not into the metal/core/heavy scene, I love that Howard's clean vocals gives you the same chills we all get! Dude just as an ability to pour so much emotion into every performance! He is an absolute master of his craft!
There was a video on RU-vid I found years back and can't find it now, but it was of him singing some kse songs in opera with a orchestra. Anyone else see it? I look for it from time to time
Howard can sing anything about anything and make it sound like hes seranating his enemies into a burning pit of barbed wire. He can say i am the mayonnaise and we woukd still groove to it, and have us feel it like never before.

You are picking up the similarities between the technique of his singing and screaming because the only thing that really changes is the shape he makes in his throat to create a distortion of sorts (no easy feat...). The breath, air movement, and mouth shape remains pretty much the same. The album End of Heartache by Killswitch Engage has many Howard hooks that will hit you right in the feels ;) His brief cover of Simple Man is awesome too
Howards voice has so much soul. Btw you should check out BABYMETAL, a Japanese metal girl group they’re amazing. I recommend Road of Resistance live in Japan.

Howard is very animated when he sings. He wants to puncture your heart with all he has then send you into a Calgon bath to take you away. He is one of the most dynamic singers right now in the ways he can just pound your body and just when you've had it he massages the damage away. Hes a beast!
