When I was 37 years old I was diagnosed with young onset Parkinson's disease , my first doctor told me life as i know it is over. I became horribly depressed. I didn't leave the house for 6 months. Feeling sorry for myself. Then my doctor retired. I went to a doctor at another hospital and he said something that completely changed my life. He said "no that's not how you do it. You have to wake up every morning like it's going to be the best day of your life" and it was like a switch flipped in me. Now at age 60 I struggle , lots of struggles but my outlook, my zest for living is stronger than when I was young and healthy. I married a beautiful woman last year that is my rock . My life is amazing . Today might be the best day of my life

Now I see why you said our last conversation was Kismet. Yep i pretty much see it exactly as you do. Even if Ren never put out a good track again I'd always respect the man and the message, but he is far too talented for that to happen. I wish many years on Ren's life.

The thing about music is that there will never be a consensus on who is the best writer, singer, rapper, etc. Talent usually shines through, but then there are too many other factors that make up to whether someone likes it or not. Sonics, another thing that is very subjective. Many Ren fans don't love this one. I do. My ears, my life experiences, my soul. Subjective. 💜💚💙

So much more to Ren than rapping. He sings,raps plays the guitar,piano etc. Plus step into any genre. Eminem is a great rapper...but that's all he is.

With great power comes great responsibility, and Ren is truly a hero! He is using his growing powers and platform for so much more than simply creating brilliant music. Ren has said that he always had this feeling that he was meant to change the world for the better. So much that he defiantly yelled a challenge to evil into an empty room. And then he got sick… Ren has now shared the full story of his health journey in 8 video chapters leading up to the release of this song and what a journey it has been. You should definitely check them out if you can relate to his troubles. Actually, anyone who hasn’t already watched them, I highly recommend you do. With all the chapters he is showing immense strength in sharing his story that is so hard to tell, being vulnerable and telling it because he hopes it will help others and raise awareness. And here he is with another rendition of that story, now told through music with a fire beat and delivering a message of hope. The world needs Ren 🐰🕳️

I feel ya! As a fellow survivor, I went through the thick of my s#@t in the early '00's. As you mentioned, suffering in silence, literally becoming a recluse from all that once was. Once I was finally properly diagnosed, things got a little better; but because of the lack of knowledge on my illness at that time I continued to spend countless days in darkness or was a walking zombie due to the countless meds. It took my best friend being in an accident, which left him a quadriplegic to completely pull me out of that hole. My illness had taken everything from me, except time. Utilizing that time to do what I can for my buddy has turned the page on a new chapter of life for both of us. A life more rich than anything I could have previously imagined. Great reaction! 💛🤘🤙✌️

Here's the most hopeful song by Ren. This was filmed in 2015/2016 before he was properly diagnosed with Lyme Disease. He was confined to his room 22-23 hours a day. It's taken from a documentary on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome called "Unrest" that's worth a watch. Patience - a mantra in my life. No matter how hard it gets, this brings me back. I get it. My younger brother has been fighting rheumatoid arthritis since he was 5 with fevers spiking to 106 . This was in the 70’sand I remember them putting him in 🛁 and pouring buckets of ice in the water to get his temp down .he’s 50 now and it has turned into stills disease. But he struggles on ! Has3boysand one grandchild and tries to live life to the fullest!! Areal trooper just like you and ren . ❤️

I note that Ren's rapping voice varies, he can be quite abrasive and that isn't my jam, but not always and recent rap output is less so. Since he's a vocal Chameleon it must be intentional.

Yeah man, definitely check out the live acoustic version he recently dropped. There’s a rawness to it. I feel you on what you were saying tho. So many people share their hardships on the internet for glorification, whereas Ren shares his story because someone out there is suffering alone in the dark. I share his music with clients whenever appropriate because of who he is and what he puts into it.

I do appreciate the fact your are genuine in your thoughts and feelings. May not like every bit of it but I really respect your position. Being Ren's fan for a long time sometimes it hurts when somebody does not appreciate his talent from the very beginning. Especially knowing his background story. And the Ren effect , It's real I witness it daily 💞people are inspired to pick up the guitars or pen to write or paint brushes or volunteer, whatever their interest in for that they've lost because I thought they were either too sick are too broken mentally or emotional to do anything. I loved The Big Push live stream! I think I understand the point you’re trying to make about people playing up victimhood, but you might want to consider your words a little so people who are struggling don’t feel like you’re invalidating their problems and struggles. Telling someone to “suck it up” doesn’t help many people, especially those with chronic illness. We’re trying. This song is always really hard for me. My chronic illness/disorder (chronic regional pain syndrome) just celebrated its 30th birthday (and I’m 43) so I empathize with his struggles, especially what it’s like to get so sick so young. That feeling of hopes and dreams slipping through your fingers as possibilities dwindle. Everyone around you participating in life while you’re relegated to being a spectator. And acceptance can be so hard. I’ve also found acceptance isn’t a one time thing. It’s something I keep going through over and over as circumstances change and I have to shift my perspective again to come to peace with it. I’m so glad he found something that works, but I’m going to be honest: sometimes I get recovery envy. I have a few things that help, but mine’s not going anywhere. It’s a life sentence for me. It has been my whole like. I’m jealous of the people who still have hope of things getting better. I’m sure you won’t read this, but if you do, don’t judge too harshly. I’m genuinely happy for Ren, you, and everyone who finds solutions. 9:30 But not all of us can overcome it. We just do the best we can as we struggle along. Okay, if you read this, thanks for listening. And whoever is cutting onions in here needs to stop. 🧅 😉

I love that Ren always focuses on hope, and acceptance. I eobder of he ever had ACT (acceptance and committment therapy) where it's less about the CBT model that pushes changing behaviours to change mindset (often not really possible when it's illness causing the problem), and more about accepting what is happening but staying determined to work with it in the best way so as to not feel victimised by it. He definitely seems to live that kind of vibe.
