When you asked about his picking, his anchor point was the whammy bar, he was holding it with a closed fist while picking and you can see that he grabbed it before and released it after that tremolo picking part. Cheers
As much as i like what doo does, let's be real, calling him genius over these tracks is little too far, it's not like these are that complicated or smart.
Usually when something gets overhyped you get disappointed, with the dooo, you don't get disappointed, you actually get even more impressed because you notice some random thing that's extremely impressive every time you see him play. Every time I rewatch these videos I see different little tricks and finesses. He's just on a different level from us huh.. gotta love that guy.
To answer your question regarding the picture you saw, it's a picture of Drake modified making a meme face with My Little Pony in the background. Why is it there? Well in a lot of his older stuff (let's say 3-4 years ago when he was doing a ton of Call of Duty or older omegle videos), he would always be asked to play "Drake - Hotline Bling" and it got to the point where he absolutely hated it and when people noticed it was him, they would ask him to play it. He eventually got that image and used it as a prop for some of his older vids in which he made people "guess that song" and there were 2 times where he showed the viewers that and then said "Tell me if you get it" and proceeded to play "Killswitch Engage - My Curse" to imply that it was his curse. So anyways, long explanation and probably not really warranted, but whatever. There it is.
I think everyone in this planet should know the doo. He's an amzing artist which should be known for his musics. Specially for his guitar skills, he plays it like it's his own part of body y'know. I mean it's like he knows and understands guitar and he doesn't play it like usuals but makes guitar sings. Idk how to Express it but he's an amazing guy. I love his songs and covers.
Saw this on Jens and she said to check yours out cause she said she got it from you and I like great people with great Hearts and I have subscribed to hers and she gave I shout out so I am subscribed to yours to ya are great people love the videos ya put out keep doing and I'll keep watchen them thanks man !!!
to me all of the dooo's original pieces of music/solo's is music in its purest form. no words but you can feel it through the notes he plays and how he puts it all together its beautiful to listen to and just can't express how impressive his talent is
Now for his 4th original song "Ethereal". You can find it on his video called "I found my dream guitar". It is more emotional and less technical than the other 3 imo.
I think it's about time you venture into the dooos non-musical videos if youre needing a little comic-relief during your day. "Jokes that will get us CANCELLED (Rainbow Six Seige)" might be a good place to start..
They ARE all his own songs btw matey!!! Also, I think the term you were looking for that you couldn't think of, is that he is hybrid picking octaves out lol which is a skill in itself!!! LOVED your reaction on "Eclipse" when he double tap harmonized with himself btw!!! 14:20 "Here we go.....OOOOHH!!! Bro, THAT shit was hard!" LMAO :D
That one note you didn't like I really love. I love off key notes because they stand out and if done tastefully it really adds a lot to the solo. It's a subjective thing though so it's totally fine you don't dig it. One note out of all he's done is still just one note so that's saying a lot That dropping the pick story was quite relatable btw 😂
One lf the first I picked up on watching Doo play is his ablitly to incorporate slow or complicated notes in with the fast notes on top of the slides bends hammer on and offs etc. His ability to time slow and faster movements togeather no prob is pretty amazing
Something i Believe, is that the dooo Weight trains. Just look at his arms. And i bet it helps out alot when playing guitar. Forearm strength. I dont know if this is normal, but its logical that it should help. so if someone that knows alot about guitar playing can confirm it
Thanks Harrison. I literally requested this vid on the Davie vs. Dooo guitar battle video. Thanks man. :) Edit: and good stuff. Always love your insights bro:) Edit2: I hope I wasn't the salty one bruh 😂
The fast shredding is him just doing hamer on and pull offs with down picks. I do it too. It gives you a really clean sounding push but it hurts the hell out of your wrist if you do it to much. My issue is I learned piano then percussion then finally guitar. So its natural for the down motion for me, the up motion sucks for my muscle memory.
I dont think the doo uses a pick. He holds his fingers like hes holding a pick but is actually using his thumb and/or index finger to strum. Thats why if you notice, when he stats playing the hammer on pull off stuff with boths hands on the neck he doesnt sit down or pick up a pick. I similarly play using my index finger nail instead of a pick just out of preference. But if hes not using one at all its impressive how clear and controlled he can get the notes. Practice has been his friend lol
I agree with what you said about those certain notes, listen to the original version of "Horizons" he changed some notes in this cover for some reason. Definitely sounds off in this video!
this is not muscle memory. muscle memor yis not that you think it is. its just coordination, mostly hand eye but after a while can be done blindly ofc (same brain region tough). you can learn any sequence within hours if you already learned the underlaying nessesary basic motion like doing 2 fingers independent. otherwise it might take 1-2 days. this is if you try to train only and really only that sequence. now ideally you would want to learn all absic sequences to later on combine em to all the complex ones. this goes for any motion learning, if its sports or even an instrument. however thats not ur muscles remebering anything, its your brain coordinating. thank god or you need to grow ears into your fingers to follow a rythm
Getting the finger to do what you want isn't especially difficult. It's putting in a lot of work! Which is difficult, keep going at it all the time. Practice makes perfect and the younger you start, the easier finger strenght will develop. If it were as special as you seem to think, ask any typist, telexist (if anyone still remembers telex) over 50 yrs, who worked with the old manual typewriters, not the electronic ones. My wife has been a typist her whole working life and though she worked the last 25 with electronic machines, you really don't want her to pinch you, cause she has tremendous hand strenght for a woman, just from typing on those old mechanic typewriters from age 12. Starting young, your finger muscles and nerves will develop different if you put them to work. Have look at finger picker cum laude Tommy Emmanuel's oversize grown thumb or the mutant extra muscle on the arm of multiple World Champion Armwrestling Devon Larratt. The body adapts to it's use.
Abt the hand sweat thing, the pick that TheDooo uses (the ones I recently bought) are insanely grippy. They’re the Jim Dunlop 2.0mm Big Stubby, it’s a purplish color and u should def give them a try
