Actually, the economy in the game makes it hard to get new guns, callers, etc. (for the free to play style), the main way how to get money is by missions (starts qbout 100, ends around 3200). A good tip for the beginners is to get guns by the missions - what they would need to complete missions. I would recommend to get the Parker python as soon as possieble with the 5 pin built in rangefinder. It makes the life so much easyer, when you are calling in animal, you need the male, and comes in the females, you just shoot them (before they get spooked a spook everything in approx 200m by they run) with the bow and is a high chance that you don't spook the male that you need. The bow is my favorite for hunting, I have it with me every hunt. By the way, the game has a greate wiki page, where you can check everything about guns - ethical species, missions and they details, etc.
@@gutsyhuntertv When I was starting I used a lot the shotgun, mostly I take with me only the shotgun (you can shot almost any species with it, and has better penetration, than the .243, the .243 is good for predators (coyotes, cats), for deer species they have not enough penetration. With the slugs I shot a lot bears too. For larger space you need to buy upgrade, the backpacks are only cosmetics. There is a lot of good to know things about mechanics too. i picked the game up just 2 days ago and if i could change two things about it i would increase the value of harvests and decrease the cost of the equipment
I picked the game up yesterday and glad there was tutorial video in 2022 thanks for the video man. My only wish is that there was a controller support bc I prefer to play games like this on a controller but other than that I been enjoying despite my struggle lol

Idk if this is helpful but i have played for a long time and it was good when i activated all possible missions. The small boost in money is good when you do things like get bobcat or coyote tracks, animals you can use shotgun or 243 on. It helped me afford the predator caller, grunt caller, and some scent blocker for emergencies lol. Now im working on whitetail missions much easier.
@@akjohnny5997 Ripoff? The game is literally free to play. As much as i hate mictrotransactions in any game, Ripoff is not the right word. The 243 you start with along with the shotgun and birdshot makes you able to hunt every animal on the map in the video except Feral hogs, The whitetail and Mule deer missions gives you alot of money, also activating all missions when enable makes you complete some of the naturally by inspecting tracks and shooting animals which also gives you money. I do agree tho that the game would be x10 better and probably way more popular if the micotransactions were removed and the prices were balanced.

I just started the game today and I felt like 2 of the deer I shot were running in circles and I spend like 45 mins looking for them blood on both and couldn’t find shit

The area is quite open, though pretty bumpy and littered with both deer and rabbits nearby, both mule deer and rabbits are free to hunt (though you need to complete mule deer missions to get a shotgun to hunt rabbits with). First thing you do - load you gun(s) - this makes noise, so you dont want to do it later when you spot something. Setup your equipment. Make sure you got your binoculars with you, they are your best item. If you bought a membership deal with some items, take those too. Remember to change to better clothes if you got them - clothes will help you camuflage noise, scent and your visual appearence for animals. What and how much each item will tell you. Head out - i usually walk along the road, towards the east, up on till it turns north. Here i either break from the road towards the north or south, northern part is quite open, but with a bit fewer deer, southern part never fails in getting mule, but is somewhat more hilly and dense. Stop often - look around with the bino's and look good. There are quite alot more animals around then you would know, most just dont say much. If you hear an animal call, get out your hunters mate (the little computer - use TAB) and "collect" the call. Now you can see where it originated from. Get your bearings, crouch and sneak slowly towards it, keep looking with the bino's and you'll spot it in no time. When you spot it, stop, try to set up for a good shot at the shoulder, best from the side. Dont just shoot randomly, you'll most likely not kill it then. The head is a quite small target compared to the chest, so i never waist time at that - the only exceptance is boar/hogs walking straight towards you. Shot and spot. If it ran, dont worry. Walk to the spot where you hit it and find tracks. If there is blood, see if its lung/hearts, intestines or a body shot. Lungs/heart will guarantee a quick kill, track it down and claim it - body shots are the worst. There is no guaranty it will die from that - either leave it (not really ethical, but a track'n'kill can take hours) or see if you can sneak up on it again.
Go to the nearest outpost. There should be a large shipping container looking thing with a bag icon on it. Press 'e' where the icon is to open up the store, as well as your stockpile. Here you can purchase new weapons, ammo, lures, etc... Whenever you buy something that is not currently in your inventory, such as a new weapon or ammo that you have unlocked, you have to go into your bag (I think it's bag) and drag it into your inventory. Items in your stockpile are on the left, your inventory is on the right. Any item in your stockpile can be accessed from any outpost or tent (you do not have to return to the same outpost). After acquiring new weapons or lures, you have to set them to a hotkey from your inventory (press Escape). You can also equip different ammunition or sights to your weapons here by dragging and dropping. Make sure you are purchasing the appropriate ammunition for the weapon you are carrying, don't try to purchase .270 ammunition for the .243 rifle.

Do you have any advice on how to get the game to run? I can run Cotw fine but classic will not load. It changes my resolution and black screens it entirely, hitting the windows button shows two classic windows open as well as steam but they're all black

Everything is stored on online servers. There is no local save. However some missions can be done over multiple sessions. Usually a mission that requires you to finish the whole thing will include something like kill a whitetail then kill another in the same hunt. If it doesn't say "in the same hunt" then generally the progress will save if you exit the game.
The visible map shows roughly a range of 220m from the player to all four edges. When the HunterMate is equipped, it is always visible in the bottom left corner of the screen. The mini map view allows you to see the area and any features in your immediate vicinity, including Lodges, Campsites, all Deployable Items as well as other players and your dog if equipped with a GPS device. Full Screen Map A click on the right mouse button will open the full screen map. You may also use "M" by default. Use the mouse wheel to change the magnification and the left mouse button to move around the map (click and hold). The full screen map can be closed with another right mouse click or with Esc.
If you're playing fullscreen, tabbing out will suspend the game until you return to it but there is no game save as such. If you need to exit, but would like to continue next time from the same location, place a tent before you exit. You can start your next hunt from there, and there will be a fresh spawn of animals.
On the launcher, you will see "buy ems" or something like that. It should be at the top. Once you get enough ems, on the launcher, click on store. It should be at the top as well. Once you go to store, there should be different categories of things you can buy. Trophy lodge should be in the lower category. You'll find it.
You earn gm$ by shooting animals and completing missions. The amount of gm$ earned for a kill depends on the CSS of the animal. One exception are ground-shot birds with a "G" score. They don't have a CSS value, yet provide the same amount of gm$ as air-shot ("A") ones. Notes Some females do not have a score and will not earn you gm$. Check Animal Scoring to see what animals have no score. All birds except Turkey do not have a CSS when shot on ground yet will get you gm$ regardless. It is not possible to convert gm$ to em$ or vice versa. The number at the top of the website showing your current gm$ balance might not always update immediately. You can check your balance at any time here.
