Mingyu is an operatic classical tenor (leggiero). Woorim is also operatically trained and is a basso profondo! Doohoon is a musically trained musical theatre performer. Only Hyungho had no formal training but he works so hard to cover all genres from opera to rock!

Kim also competed in Phantom Singers and ended up in the quartet, Miraclass, who came in second. The link above shows them in a duet- both have a tremendous operatic presence. During competition , Ko worked really hard with Cho Min Gyu, also with operatic training, so Ko could work well in a crossover quartet.

Chicos, por favor reaccionen a Forestella con la canción What should I do with something good, es Jazz! Y como nos tienen acostumbrados, suenan espectaculares! Nunca, pero nunca decepcionan! Otra hermosa canción en italiano es L'immensita, por los 4, o en dúo con Mingyu y Woorim (Mingyu, senior lírico de la Universidad de Seúl, muy prestigiosa y Woorim en ese momento era estudiante de canto lírico en la misma universidad. Por eso Mingyu ya lo conocía a Woorim y sabía de su voz tan única y rara de encontrar. Doo-hoon es actor musical de otra prestigiosa universidad como la Universidad de Artes de Seúl (creo que es el más versátil porque se adapta a lo clásico, el R&B, al pop). De Doo-hoon les recomiendo Gethsemane, de la obra musical Jesucristo Superstar, que sería su rol soñado. Es muy impresionante ese diálogo del Hijo con el Padre. Como lo hace en su lengua nativa, recomiendo previamente buscar la traducción. Se eriza la piel! Creo que Doo-hoon es un maestro para transmitir emociones! Me encanta que reaccionen a Forestella! Salvo Dimash no hay artistas con una calidad tan exquisita como ellos. Gracias!

If only All their fans around this planet could hear them live…fortunately the rest of us have these recordings and music videos and fan-cams which is what we must be content with. And of course it’s only as good as the quality of the broadcast and the quality of each fan’s device or equipment on hand. I am happy that a few in Korea and N. America and Dubai and Japan were able to experience them live in some capacity and encourage many more to support them live especially now as a temporary trio . Thank you for your great reaction. :) Minor correction: Cho Mingyu and Ko Woorim actually studied opera singing at the Seoul National University, so they are classically trained. Going back a few years, you can clearly hear Woorim's operatic intonation when singing. He sounds very modern now but that's because Forestella has a different vocal requirement for his bass. Mingyu still sounds very classical but mainly, as far as interviews go, because that's what gives Forestella that classic and elevated sound they are going for (mixed with modern singing). Both Mingyu and Woorim said they wanted to try something different than "just" opera singing because they found the operatic repertoire too narrow and restricting.

I don't understand why you guys say they don't have opera training. 2 of them actually DO! Cho Mingyu and Ko Woorim are classically trained at the University of Seoul. As students of opera they would have learned to perform many Italian arias etc as well. PITTA has the least training (none) then Bae DooHoon has musical theater. So HALF of Forestella does have classical opera training. Anyway, I ADORE YOU TWO! Forestella was born on PHANTOM SINGER 2…in 2017 and WON that season on 3rd November 2017 and debuted 14th March 2018 and HOPPIPOLLA was born on SUPERBAND in 2019, won that season and debuted 14th November 2019. Both are JTBC Tv competitions BUT entirely different shows 2 YEARS APART! Forestella is a crossover vocalist quartet, whereas HOPPIPOLLA is a BAND with includes vocalists and instrumentalists. AS INDIVIDUALS ALL Forestella members play instruments, but not as part of the Forestella act usually.
