I want to point out Crowley’s idea of getting people to fall in love: they’re talking, looking into eachother’s eyes while sheltered from the rain. What was the first real scene we saw with crowley and aziraphale? Them in Eden and Aziraphale sheltering Crowley from the first rain that ever happened on earth. Gee I wonder why he’s so sure this rain idea is such a sure fire way to get two people to fall in love
@kkyulmin

Also! As far as we (and Neil) know, none of Richard Curtis’ films has a scene like this :D Crowley totally took his idea of falling in love from his interaction with Azi in the Garden 👀

What I find really amusing, is that Aziraphale and Crowley's joint miracle was meant to make people unable to find Gabriel "especially when they're looking for him". And the one person who seems least affected is Michael. She's most aware of Jim's presence and even has an inkling she knows him. Conclusions? She's not really looking for Gabriel. She's going through the motions but she doesn't care for him getting found.
@ilunaker1032
@ilunaker1032 3 месяца назад
Agree, in part. That's probably a huge factor, but there are other instances where we see how she's the only one aware of people trying to hide themselves using tricks (or to lie). IMO it may have to do with her job including being a Head of Security of sorts. Also, she's more distrustful and twisted (dare I say complex?) than the rest of the Archangels... and why deny it, the sole recipient of the only working neuron among them 😂

Crowley's flat isn't actually HIS flat. It was given to him by Hell when he was their Earthly liason. Now that Shax is the liason, she's living there. Aziraphale, by contrast, outright owns like the entire block of buildings. Which is why he is the record shops landlord.
@letolethe3344
@letolethe3344 3 месяца назад
I think you found the "I'm a demon now" scene so emotional because Michael Sheen's acting (and the excellent writing) make it so easy to relate to the self-doubt, self-loathing, confusion, betrayal, and grief Aziraphale feels. He feels let down by the God he's devoted his existence to, and feels no matter what he does (goes along with God or against God) he is doing wrong.
@gregchapman2646

Yes. I believe Mr. Gaiman said that where Crowley was concerned when it came to living arrangements, he just picked out a flat he liked and sent all the bills to Hell's financial department. So, yes, it's basically Hell's flat, and they just kicked him out once he wasn't working for them anymore.

forever in love with how Crowley reacts to seeing God talk to Job. "Just to be able to ask the question" when he was cast out for questioning, you can see a bit of both awe and pain in his reaction, but I love how he is never bitter towards the humans, he doesn't blame Job for God choosing to speak to him, he isn't jealous, instead he seems to always maintain a curiosity and fascination with humans. And you will also see in coming episodes how he always seems to try his best to answer questions and indulge curiosity, even if it's someone he doesn't like, I think because he was punished for it and never wants to do that to others.
@llc358
@llc358 3 месяца назад
ALSO! The fact that Crowley absolutely could be bitter that Aziraphale gets to question God's plan without consequences. He could have easily run to tattle and get Aziraphale in trouble, I mean imagine the power that might have granted him in hell, to say that he tempted an angel into lying to thwart God's plan, but instead, he chooses to keep it hidden because he knows how horrible hell is, and how horrible it would be for Aziraphale there. They always show us so clearly that even though he is a demon, Crowley is so so genuinely good and kind where it counts
@cara9680
@cara9680 22 дня назад
@@llc358yes!!! exactly this!!! on the flip side, that's also what makes it so painful when aziraphale says things like "you're the bad guys," because in truth, crowley didn’t do anything that aziraphale himself hasnt done but he doesn’t understand that!!

I just think it's sooooooo interesting that we hear Crowley's idea of how people fall in love - "a sudden rainstorm forces them together beneath a canopy, they look into each other's eyes, and realise they were made for each other" - and not 20 minutes later we see a flashback where: -A sudden rainstorm forces Crowley and Aziraphale beneath a canopy (Job's cosy, secluded, dimly firelit cellar with dinner and wine) -They look into each other's eyes ("Well that sounds..." "What?" "...lonely.") -And realise they were made for each other (their first time actively working together as a team against Heaven and Hell; the quiet, gentle beginning of "our side") Me @ Crowley: 👀👀👀👀👀

The best thing about "Everyday" by Buddy Holly is that long ago, when they discussed the screen adaptation, Terry Pratchett wanted it to be the theme song played in the opening credits of Good Omens. It would be perfect for what now is season one, because "everyday it's getting a-closer" sounds like a sinister prediction of the coming Apocalypse, but at the same time the lyrics are terribly romantic and the vibes suit the story perfectly. However, Neil was overwhelmed by all the things he had to do, and by the time he remembered about the song David Arnold had already written the wonderful theme song, and they had made the animated sequence, so Neil had to shelve the idea. BUT HE DIDN'T FORGET! He put it in season two!

I'm sure someone more versed in Christianity will correct me here, but if I recall correctly, Gabriel was the angel who told Mary and Joseph they would be the parents of the son of God. If so, this means that either; A) Sometime between Job and the birth of Christ, Gabriel leaned how human reproduction actually works (or had it explained to him) B) Gabriel assumed that Jesus' birth would be different to what he believed to be normal for humans or C) The conversation about how Mary would give birth to Jesus was confusing for all involved.

Azi is such amazing representation for me as a queer person that grew up in the church. The moment I realized I was queer I was afraid. I was afraid I'd disappointed God and that I was going to burn forever. But I was so in the closet for so long and it was soooo lonely. I've finally found my Crowley with my current bi boyfriend. But it was so lonely. And I understand Azi's blind faith so much. And also seeing that even when he finds himself questioning that Crowley at least tries to soften the blow by telling him he can still be an angel that he doesn't have to choose to be more than he is.... For those who don't understand what it takes to fully unprogram yourself from an old belief system. It is very scary and very lonely. And very hard to do. I hope Morgan can understand that even though Morgan left the faith with alot less guilt or hesitation.

Re: did Crowley and Aziraphale know each other before Crowley fell - only Aziraphale introduces himself when they were both angels, and Crowley is the only one introducing himself at the gate. So it could be that they only had that one interaction before he fell. I have a second, kinda dark headcanon though: They fell in love and when Crowley fell he lost all his memories of their time together, that's why he is introducing himself at the gate. Aziraphale has had to live with the memories and tries to keep his distance for fear of either losing Crowley again or falling himself, forcing Crowley to be the only one to remember.

Potentially vague spoilers here, but omg, this is such a tragic head-cannon. It would make Azira's behavior in the last 15 make _so_ much sense. Why he was so anxious about accepting the Metatron's offer (because there was an unspoken meaning behind it), why he was so upset with Crowley and felt the need to say "I forgive you." Damn, I know it's messed up, but I kinda like this head-cannon because it adds depth to Azi's character and makes _him_ the one who's been protecting Crowley all along. What if he acts more innocent than he really is, like how he lets Crowley save him all the time? I mean, look at his whole magic-trick thing: he's constantly terrible at it, but then when it came to protecting Crowley and preventing Hell from learning of their friendship, he "got it right the time that it mattered." I thought it was luck, but maybe he just pretends to be bad at it because he enjoys making Crowley complain about it, lol. It's like an inside-joke he has with himself. We know he's capable of putting aside his pride and hiding how competent he is to Crowley so that Crowley can "save the day." What if he's doing that at other times, and we the audience were also falling for it because we don't have context? What if we haven't been giving him enough credit, and he actually is, tragically, much less innocent than we're lead to believe? Than he _lets_ us believe?

Don't worry about crying, I teared up/full on cried on at least half of all 12 episodes :') This show truly does a fantastic job in balancing comedy with sorrow. I was raised christian-catholic and Job's story was one of the first things that made me start questioning my faith, so on some level I can understand what Azi is going through. When you have stories about good, loving, righteous god drilled into your head for most of your life, questioning and eventually losing that faith is quite painful (at least it was for me). I do think this is the first time Aziraphale couldn't help himself but really question god; he's been on Earth since its creation and before that the infallible god was all he ever knew. When he starts questioning god and goes directly against her plan for the first time, at the end of it all he thinks HE'S the bad one and deserves to go to hell. Just like Job thought HE must've done something terrible to be punished so severely, even tho according to the bible he's a man outstandingly devoted to god. Azi basically went through religious brainwashing for god knows how long. To him questioning his faith, thinking he's evil and not worthy of god, is probably the same as his whole world crumbling. It's just heartbreaking. And it does feel lonely. (sorry for the comment being so long, none of my friends has watched this show and I had to rant to someone :') the ending in this ep just hit me like a brick.) Also yeah, the "OUR car" scene lives in my mind rent free :') and I'm not sure if you've noticed but Azi put his hand on Crowley's chest when they were in the pub :D (michael sheen when asked about it on twitter was like "oh yeah the scene was scripted but Az putting his hand on the thin dark Duke was all me" lmao 😭) As always I absolutely loved all your insights and your reaction, can't wait for the next one 🥰

Hiiiii the reason Crowley is living in his car is because hell gave him his flat and he has been homeless since the end of last season! Also there is a short on RU-vid titled “good omens: lockdown” it came out in 2020 and takes place before season 2 and Aziraphale is seen with drawings on his desk!

My favorite little easter egg is that the miracle Crowley and Aziraphale did together charts at '25 Lazari'. The biblical story of Lazarus is Jesus bringing a dude back to life. Meaning the miracle they did together was as powerful as bringing 25 guys back to life.

This is my favorite episode. There's so much to unpack in the Job minisode, especially if you're familiar with the story in the Bible. I also love the contrast between the last shot of the episode, the two of them sitting far apart looking out at the ocean, vs how cozy they are with each other now.

In regards to Aziraphale and Crowley introducing themselves on the wall in s1, if I remember correctly, Aziraphale didn't offer his name, but did wait for Crowley to offer his. I believe Neil has said somewhere that it was because demons did not keep their names when they fell, so Aziraphale basically didn't want to deadname Crowley and waited to learn what his new name was. (Also, in the scene in heaven, Aziraphale actually introduces himself to Crowley, but Crowley just says "nice meeting you" and doesn't offer his name in return. So it's possible that Aziraphale actually didn't know Crowley's original name, but my theory was that Crowley was a Big Deal™ in heaven, so he didn't introduce himself because most angels would have already known who he was. And typing this out just made me realize the parallel between the two "first meetings." In heaven, Aziraphale introduces himself and Crowley doesn't offer his name, but shields him with his wing, and in eden it's reversed!)

This is my favorite episode, personally. Azi is my favorite character and as someone who grew up in a religious household and still has a lot of unpacking to do that scene with Crowley and Aziraphale on the cliff is by far my favorite scene in the whole show only slightly above THE scene (you'll get to it) and it hits me every time. It's so good.

You know, it's interesting: it seems like Aziraphale is being a little naive when he refuses to believe that this is all what God really wants, and at first I did take it as him being naive, but then when I thought about it, Crowley himself does say at the end of season 1, "What if God planned it like this all along?" and I've often felt like he was right, so, what if God set up this Job scenario _knowing_ that they'd thwart it, and that it would set Aziraphale and Crowley down a path that would lead to their friendship and the thwarting of the End of the World? She knew she had to do something to shake Aziraphale loose from his strict adherence to the rules, and something that would cause Crowley to start trusting him--- something that would cause them both to start trusting each other more than their sides. I also think she's counting on them in season 3, but also needed them to be exactly where they'll be at the start of it, hence sending the Metatron to meddle.

This is the last time Crawley is called Crawley. The next flashback is the Crucifixion when Crowley tells Aziraphale that he changed his name from Crawley to Crowley. At the time of Job he turned goats into crows and works with Aziraphale for the first time to save the kids. I believe he changed his name to CROWley as a constant reminder (a souvenir if you will) of the trust Aziraphale demonstrated in Crowley ❤️

Can’t get over the final scene of them bonding. Of how Crowley will always feel a little less lonely, but Aziraphale will always feel a little less holy. How Crowley finds connection but how Aziraphale finds loss from his angelic side. Gah

It's like Aziraphale is losing his family, so even though he's gaining a friend, he feels like he's losing himself and everyone else in the process. It would be really hard to grapple with, and even sad. I can see why he still tries to hold onto the idea of, _Maybe I can just get them to see things the way that I've come to. They're just mistaken._ They're family to him, and emotionally, he's not ready to move on.
