Hey it's me, bread. Thanks for all the tips and insight. Also that hilarious genji deflect suicide was exactly when the tank told us they were giving up
As a Sombra player also, you gotta look at their comp and see who you can pick on and usually I go for supports. Zen, Lifeweaver, or Mercy might work. Widow is a good choice. It depends on their playstyle as well. If you go for a Zen and he can hit his shots, you aren’t getting anything done. I would have tried to force the Mercy to swap but just constantly harassing her. Don’t just stand and shoot though whatever you do. Your kit is for hit and run jobs or distraction. It’s not to stand behind the tank spamming the whole round.
The tank looked like he was giving up. Lol. Immediately after that he used Orisa ult with 4 dead allies. Her ultimate is just like Rein and Zarya, they're insanely powerful if you have follow-up, but by themselves they don't really do a whole lot. Really good sticks on your Bastion grenades, that prediction on the 76 going for the mini health pack in that room to the left of first point was sick. For Sombra you really need to spend more time thinking and less time shooting though. There were like, what, 4 or 5 times that you almost got an elimination on someone and they got gripped out. I kept waiting for you to recognize that and just go assassinate their Lifeweaver, but you never did. You're also playing a little bit far for Sombra's effective falloff range. You can tell because on one fight you made the worst play you can make on Sombra: You translocated into the enemy team to be able to land more shots and increase your damage, but that leaves you with zero tools to disengage and you immediately fell over. If you decloak a little closer to the enemies and shoot/virus before hacking (because hack requires almost no aim and is easy to hit strafing targets, gun not so much) and make sure to control space where there is a healthpack that you can keep hacked, you'll see a lot more damage during fights. Unfortunately if your tank wants to just hold W, you can't control that aspect of the game. Maybe kindly remind them one time that 2 supports can't outheal the damage from 5 enemies and if they take it personally just hide the chat and play your best game.
The primary reason this team lost was the tank had a totally different game plan from the rest of the team. They had that classic low gold-level awareness of their teammates and enemy positioning, and the team suffered for it. As far as the submitter goes, I feel like they're a plat Bastion playing a silver Sombra. I think the biggest thing they need to improve on is their mindset when playing Sombra. Too much effort put into attacking the tank when the way Sombra cripples tanks is by disrupting the back line's ability to heal them. They've clearly put a lot of time and effort into their Bastion, and it feels like it's kind of muddied their Sombra a bit. They had several moments of playing Sombra properly, but also a lot of moments where they were trying to play Sombra like she's Bastion.
Sniper Sombra went hard, but fr their bastion was easily plat level, a few points of poor positioning, but I mean it looked like my Sombra out there, she's my worst hero but I'd be surprised if it placed even silver on a good day. Absolute menace with the sticky bombs on bastion though good stuff
I don't really care what my DPS do when I'm on tank as long as they aren't choosing something super selfish and then flaming everyone else while also taking literally all of the resources. I pick off of my support line for the most part and I don't need the supports on like high heals to babysit me or anything. But I can feel the difference in the game where one of the DPS is on say a flanker hero who's constantly bugging the supports for heals while also being nowhere near enough for AoE to be effective, whether that's all of the brig's packs, zen or ana has to be constantly on them, or even worse demanding a mercy pocket. Like sure we can play that way and I kind of like playing slow support-style tank, but don't bug me about my elims or damage numbers then. I'm sacrificing them *for you* so that *you* can get the constant attention you need, hell maybe I'm even giving you my bubbles or something in addition to that so I have to play passive. LIke, muff off.
They're great together and a hacked mega in their backline is insanely good. Gives ball a higher healing output then a mercy pocket and makes it extremely costly to force him away.
As a sombra player thank you emongg for spreading sombra awareness. The amount of people who flame sombras for low damage when that isnt the value. Yeah I have 2500 damage but I also have 20 elims. Ever point of damge contributed to a kill. Just cause my damage is more efficient dosent mean its low. And I have totally won games without confirming a kill just constantly poking thier backline to get 3 people to pay attention to me instead of healing thier tank. Then my team cleans them up when I get forced out.
Yep. Space making is a big part of OW and doesn't show on the scoreboard. Also flanker heroes like Sombra are going to have lower damage because they are supposed to spend a lot less time shooting the enemy tank. It's all about the big picture.
LITERALLY THIS. hate being flamed when im on sombra just bc my dmg and kills are low; im making space and opportunities for you, idiots, take them instead of demanding that i carry your dumb asses bc that's impossible.
@@dyamonde9555 meh sometimes the enemy is just running a shield comp and nobody notices me as I go through their backlines 1 by 1 they're probably also flaming eachother in text chat
For people trying to climb in lower ranks, just turn off voice and text chat. For whatever reason these toxic players in silver/gold/plat think they know better and all they’re going to do is talk trash about how they’re losing the game because of someone else. The OW community is full of it and I’ve found the trade of not communicating is worth not having a headache from some shitter who thinks he knows better even though he’s the same rank as you 🙄
The hack noise telegraphs. Its like going "Hey. HEY! Get ready, Im going to attack you in a sec.HEY!". You lose a little damage but if you open with virus, they're having to react to damage. That reaction is predictable and sometimes hackable. Also virus+gun will kill a squishy, then you can hack the tank (from their backline) translocate and reset. Next loop the tank will still have hack on maybe.
In the beginning they were playing Sombra like Bastion or Cassidy, then they got more used to flanking and played a flanking Sombra. Then they got flamed and told to swap, so they swapped to Bastion... and continued to play flank like Sombra.. 😅They adjusted eventually though, but it was funny to watch haha Im a huge advocate for playing what you love and you're comfortable with. You're going to do 1000x better as a good comfort pick than a bad counter pick.
Tank is too aggressive while team too passive. It's regular thing in gold/plat. This Sombra did good, but team probably needed more frontline since everyone charged Zarya and killing ~60 charge Zarya is a lot harder than 20-30%. Sombra thrive with focusing fire which sadly rare thing in gold.
Man, I just got done playing and one of my teammates and someone on the other team was trying to flame me for having low damage on Sombra. People are so braindead. Adding stats to the scoreboard is one of the worst decisions blizzard ever made. People just look at who has the least flashy stats and immediately blame them, it's ridiculous
25:05 That's the master ball situation. Everybody will never use the master ball because we want to keep it, even though the legendary won't get in the ball most of the time.
I assume the tank have huge tunnel vision and feel alone and not backed with heroes which play from behind him. And that's why he feel «helped» by a Venture or Junkrat because he could see explosion and diving assault, and not by a Bastion which stay at safe behind while shredding opponent. And when I play tank, what I expect from my DPS is «Stay alive» and «Take opportunity I open to you». Maybe I'm wrong. But it's what I expect.
The amount of times I saw the Orisa pushing in with half health and no healer insight hurts me. Like dude, just wait 5 seconds for your healers to catch up before pushing up. 😭
I had a game like this at the end of season one in high silver low gold. I was dps playing a soljorn noticed my supports where getting eaten by a tracer. Swiched to Cassidy knowing my accuracy is 38%-52% and magnetic could help with killing the tracer. Didn't see the tracer much but ended up with somthing like 23k damage and 29 elems. The other dps I'll call flames started going after me for not having enough damage.... While he had 26k damage and 23 elems. on Hanzo. Am I wrong thinking that hanzo should have a low damage and high elim count? Flames me for not dealing with the tracer and starts going to all chat. eventually the whole lobby is on me despite him having poor results. I didn't play the best don't get me wrong Plus my blood sugar was around 250-300 so my focus was not peak. I'm medal rank for a reason.
For the discussion at 13min i will stay that ive gotten a quad as widow and my entire team refused to push the 1hp junkerqueen and we didnt get point because I had to leave my position and get the 5th elim (which let their respawning team get the drop on me) Why did I leave my spot? They took over 45 seconds to even shoot at her and i was exasperated because it was literally a 4v1 and I had to get the kill myself. Like bro sometimes theres just no helping
I think what the tank was trying to say is, any hero would've been better than this guy's Sombra 😂😂😂 and he would be right. And just to be clear, the tank had an IQ problem, rushing like he did every time.
Ngl, the biggest issue these days is (and always have been an issue tbh) people complain more than that they play the game, people focus more on their teammates and not themselves and their own mistakes. Ignore the mistakes of your teammates, and focus on your own to improve.
One of the things that was really getting me about this gameplay was the repeated TP into their backline when she's already behind them. You don't want to be doing that. If a decent dps hears your TP, you might as well be inting and throwing. Sombra works best when you survey their team and pester them. If you're not being a silent, annoying mosquito, then you'll never get any value out of this hero. That being said, keep improving! You have potential!
i only used it once sence i don't go mercy very often but if mauga got his ability ativated that he gets health by damaging a mercy using damage boost is very good his health jumps back up. And i love when people complain about for example a sombra or widow having low damage meanwhile i main support and ik that's how you play them if they got a ton of damage then they may be playing very bad a widow for example 1 taps everything except the tank so if she got a ton of damage something is not right
entirely too much Sombra76 in that first round, do get me wrong it is useful sometime but it isn't your job a Sombra, like the other day on circuit royal on the entrance to last point I stood at the door throwing virus and dumping my clip just absolutely farming EMP cause the enemy team let me do that, so I was just an EMP bot and we held them at the door, but that situation is the exception too the rule. Emongg said it you should be in the back line most of the time.
I had always really shitty computer so I never tried OW. Few months ago I finally managed to save enought for a good pc and tried this game. I played basically only tanks. And seeing this is how probably flanks in my lobby play this game makes my blood boil. Flank heroes that does not flank. The few games I played soldier I was in the enemy team backlines picking squishy heroes leading to teamwipes more than this player with invisible flank hero. I can forgive bad aim, mines not good either thats why I play tanks, but not knowing how to play your (in this case main hero) is just bad. It's not skill problem. It's brain problem.
As someone who likes playing ball or Winston, I like my dps to dive with me if they’re a dive character. You can destroy the back lines with a sombra or tracer with you
Wtf! This Sombra had 0 impact on the game!!! Some players just think that being somehow annoying is enough but it's NOT! This is a gold lobby! DO better!🤦🏾♂️
20:29 emongg i have the same problem with discord at the moment. Its kindof like the discord is just gray and doesnt load the hud or content of discord at all. Please tell us if you find a fix for it
Idea for next April Fools patch - When fortified, Orisa is immobile ( like a wall..? ) and her weapon/projectile has a 50% reduction to firing rate/speed of projectile.
"A lot of supports have a problem when encountring sombra", i disaggree with that as illari main i LOVE going against sombra mains and making their lives a living hell. Also i'm gold 5
Why are they only doing poke? As a Somb player I felt sick watching this. They don’t dive. They shoot like they are using soldier. They need to get closer, actually click on heads and harass the support. Somb has awful bullet spread from distance and her damage drop off comes into play. So I actually agree they should have changed. There is little value.. I think they may have benefitted from playing Soldier hahaha. Or Cassidy.
Sombra is just a bad pick for Payload defense, and for Payload Point 3s in general. First thing you gotta learn when training a Hero is when NOT to play them. On a Payload map you should only pick Sombra for offense on Points 1 and 2.
27:26 lmao why dont they just touch? They have dash, they have burrow, they can dive in from th3 ledge and touch easy. Team had emp, nano and valks is probably going to come in mid fight. Enemy team got nothing, its a free win if they just touch.
Yep. Hacking all the time is bad because you give your position away and it takes time to actually hack. Always go in with virus and shooting. Hacks should be used for things like stopping ults if you can. Sombra should be annoying. She should make the back line constantly looking around not sure where you are coming from next.
Same with Venture. I get the whole team to turn around and have them trying to kill me for 10 seconds and my team just stands there doing nothing. It's like they actively disengage. Everyone has their back to you, go in!
There needs to be a "how to play with..." video, where someone explains how yo, and u play with a 'feeding tank' for example. Most OW guides are irrelevant because it assumes that all the other players know how to play as well.
I think people just hate sombra. One time I had a game in play 3 where I had 32 kills and 16k damage and my team typed in chat “our sombra threw” mind u I had the highest stats between both teams. And I know stats don’t tell the whole story. But … this is a different case
Theyre quite lazy with their virus, its quite an important part of their kit. Honestly, their bastion was much better, feels like they know how to play them unlike Sombra.
I don't say this to be mean, but the first half of that Sombra gameplay was straight up terrible: shooting from way too far away, not taking any flanks or attacking the back line. Getting almost zero value. TBH I love when a Sombra like that is on the other team.
I mean, at the end of the day complaining in bronze-master lobbies is pointless lmao we’re in gold ranked play this isn’t OWCS, play whatever hero you want, it’s a fucking video game lmao it’s not that deep people be tweaking in game chat like they’re going pro 😭 just play the game and stfu 💀
Remember this, chat and YT are always GM Top 500 players who always have something to say. Looking at these comments criticizing this man but are in the same rank LOL.
I can’t stand these somber players they just run around all game thinking they’re doing everything and the whole team is the problem… that’s an avoid as teammate 4ever
I actually disagree with Emongg on defense. Bread played a really good Sombra for gold. He hit most of his viruses and constantly pressured the backline. The problem is the enemy team was given free map control with Zarya, Lifeweaver, and Echo, so they could do whatever they wanted and got bailed out every time things went South. If Bread's Orisa pushed up and took map control away, then his back line pressure would have been even more effective because the team would have the space to follow up.
His Sombra play was terrible dude what are you on. Even in gold you need to have a basic understanding of the hero but dude incapable of being effective. The bastion switch was 10000x more helpful.
you're wrong then lmao that first point sombra gameplay was terrible! Didn't flank at all, was shooting the enemy from the front, missed half their TPs.. likebwtf gameplay were you watching?
I'm not sure we watched the same video because they were not in the back line nearly enough early on. Until they got to 3rd point, they were playing Sombra with 76-esque positioning. How they played toward the end of the round should've been what they were doing the entire time. Their play style is so much more suited to Bastion. It's going to take some amount of breaking that mindset to play Sombra to the same level. I'm assuming they're in gold because they're a plat Bastion playing a silver Sombra.
guy plays sombra like bastion and tried flanking with bastion like sombra. Interesting choice. Tank was right on one thing: *this* sombra was not the pick.
The reason the tank told them to switch bastion is because they started off playing like bastion anyway. Why on earth were they grouping up with the team trying to shoot from range!? Emongg is nicer than I am, I would’ve been baking the shit out of them for that.
