🔎MATCH ANALYSIS
I'm 50/50 on how I feel about this set :). Firstly, two consecutive perfect rounds in a single match are really nice. Whiff punishment was on point, pokes were good, ff2 timing and spacing were okay. I blocked two or three hellsweeps and a lot of ff3s, and I had one fuzzy guard during the hellsweep/ff3 mix-up.
So, what did I do wrong? The Heat utilization was absolutely terrible. I didn't use Heat Burst/Dash where I should have. During the entire set, not a single Heat Move like 3+4 or Heat Smash, besides one b1 which didn't benefit from the Heat state; it would have counter-hit nonetheless. I finished the majority of the rounds without activating the Heat.
Then, I'm not satisfied with how I countered Kazuya. At that time, I was busy labbing other, more problematic characters, therefore kept skipping Kazuya, and I didn't get used to some of the animations for optimal punishment. Namely, df12 -I should have been ducking that (I duck now). Also, df321 is not -15 but -14. Two times I tried to punish it with a hop kick. I should have launched db12 without pushback at the wall, but I did a small 10f punish instead.
What cost me almost two rounds: I blocked two hellsweeps without proper punishment. On the first, I dropped a somewhat technical combo, and on the second, a round-winning block, I didn't get WS3; instead, Feng stayed in FC, and got FC d3. I also didn't get ff2,f Heat Dash while in Heat, which would have led to a full combo. I swear I was holding forward.
It's not a big deal, honestly. I'm just analyzing the set and having a blast with Tekken 8. I find joy in improving, rather than competing. If something frustrates me in the game, it doesn't linger for more than 24 hours. So, I'm happy and grateful about this set. Catch you later! :)
