This is the original (and best version of the) theme song from Australian TV's "Simon Townsend's Wonder World" from 1979. Performed by John St. Peeters.
I know this is an old Story and most people won't see this comment, but I was born in the 70's and grew up watching Wonder World everyday, so much so that every fact that came out of my mouth such as "hey mum did you know....." she would ask, where did you learn that "Wonder World" I loved Wonder World, so I started a youtube channel called Wonder World and I even trademarked the name Wonder World after the original shows trademark ran out. my whole channel is based around small unique stories like what Wonder World the original did, so far I have had a lot of success and I hope it continues to grow, and help the name Wonder World live on.
OMG I was on this show back in 1983 for my lady Diana collection I was just 9 years old be reliving the memories watching the tape lately of the show , im now 42 best part of my childhood back then , the reporter was Edith bliss...
In Yr 9 we did a week of work experience - a school friend got to go here for a week & even made it on TV for 10 seconds LOL we were so jealous - 1984.
Thanks for posting, Nemspy..I was trying to find a (video)version of it somewhere....also, thanks Zoran. Jon did record it first but didn't actually write it. Simon came to EMI publishers one day requesting a new theme and Gerry Sword (EMI manager) had me write it while he and Simon chatted in Gerry's office. Simon was a really nice guy and that was a fond memory.
That's very interesting Chris. I played this song at a gig about fifteen years ago, and after I finished playing it, a Musician I knew in passing came up to me, and claimed he'd co-written it with John St. Peeters! And he wasn't you! I didn't really believe him then, and I definitely don't believe him now. Thanks for clearing that up.
@xr6lad Yes, I am aware of that. This is the original version of the song called "Wonderworld" as opposed to the one sung by a woman. I'm not talking about the original themesong to the show which I am aware is Afternoon Delight.
afternoon delight was the original theme song before this one..I think they realised that singing about a PM shag was not very appropriate for a kids show!
But I now taste big rooster and smell pink zinc cream ♡ arrrrrgh take me back to the 80s. KFC was never better,bbq cc's. Yall know what I'm saying. Sorry 80s and up kids have no clue
