We can never really repay them for their sacrifices. Yet money hungry, lazy bums think we owe them reparations for slavery in the 1800s in the South. First, we owe them NOTHING because there really aren't decendants of slave owners. Second, they can't even produce evidence they're descended from slaves. Third, speaking for myself, all my maternal and paternal grandparents came here from Poland and Germany in the mid to late 1920s, so I have nothing to do with what happened in those years. They want reparations yet these men served with their lives and never asked for anything in return. And these people screaming reparations, they wonder why people have so many derogatory names for them. They deserve every name mentioned. Thankfully not all are the same. A vast amount want to work, have families, and rightfully earn respect.
I love the then and now pictures in general but those about the WW2 are special to me. The music is perfect! I get goosebumps watching these videos! THANK YOU for your wonderful work!
I do not agree! They destroyed all of our historical buildings, our culture, our beautiful towns. What people have created over many centuries has been irrevocably destroyed in a flash. Germany was once beautiful, with a rich and ancient culture. Everything has been destroyed and there is little that remains as a reminder of its former splendor.
It make me emotional, of course nostalgic, thinking of the soldiers those who never go back to there homeland and died in other's land far from there homeland...

I love these before and after photos of WW2, having recently discovered them on RU-vid. They are moving, poignant and sometimes sad. I find it interesting how the people in the now photos and videos are just going about their business, probably unaware of what went before in the exact places they are standing, walking or driving. That someone’s young life was cut short in that very spot or that a brave unknown person was there for a second many years ago. It moves me to tears.
These photos are so important to demonstrate the sacrifice people made to be where we are today. I share these to my family WhatsApp grp. Some streets are not just streets … they have a story

The Omaha beach pictures broke my heart the most. A lot happened on that beach. That beach served as a vehicle that conveyed a lot of men to the afterlife.😢
We owe these brave men & women more than we could ever afford! Their sacrifices gave us the world as we experience it today & without their commitments we’d all be in a much different world if not dead altogether? My father was one of these heroes & I only wish he was around today so I could tell him how much he meant to me? I only hope I’ve instilled in my grandchildren the morals you taught me? RIP Marine & ThankU Dad!

We must NEVER FORGET! That war did not need to happen, sadly, it needed to be ended. My Dad was a US Soldier in that war. I like to think he met some of those he killed in heaven. Soldiers are a victim of war too.

It's amazing little things like the dirt where the grass won't grow on Omaha beach to this day, to the small bell in the clocktower, so much is still the same. Fills me with great emotion every time I see these pictures. Thank you so much, sir....
These photos remind me that we take peace for granted in the West. Our forefathers and foremothers had so much love for us, the future generations that they made so many sacrifices for in WW2. My prayers are with those fighting in conflicts today.
🙏🤲 My dad told us kids everything, he didn't hold anything back. He said he wants us to know everything no matter how bad it was to say. Dad fought in WWII, Pearl Harbor and he was blessed to make it back home. He was injured badly & he had to recover in a Military Hospital for 1yr. I always find it hard to get a connection to these old times because its all black and white, but they really had the same lifes as we all have today. Lets hope there will never be a thing like a world war ever again

My great grandad was German but came to England for work. His son fought the Germans in WW1; His grandson fought them in France after D-day …. His Welsh wife’s 2 brothers died in separate ships when they sank delivering food from great Britain to Russia in WW1 … is this why everyone hates us???!!!🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴

Really made me cry. A squatter in my parents home had destroyed ALL the photos of my family --none left. My grandparents all passed before my birth--uncles & aunts gone. My maternal Uncle served under Patton-WW2. My 2 paternal Uncles served in WW2-- one met his future wife in Italy during that war. You have NO idea how much it hurts to have not even a single photo of ANY of my family! It's been yrs but the pain never subsides. Both sides of my family have served in every war since WW2. I went to Ukraini in 2022 to fight the invasion. God bless our wonderful, brave troops! Semper Fi!

My Dad was there when he was 19. From a Farm in Kansas. He went from there to Germany. It affected his life very much but you never heard a word about it from him. He shot himself in 1973. I was 14.😢
The pics along with soundtrack makes me emotional thinking of my Daddy who would hav bn almost 103 as of Jul 11 and was a medic in Germany and Italy during WW 2 😢

When I was 40 years old, I met a woman on the internet in a chat room, and things went from there. She was divorced and had two daughters aged 12 and 15. I found it hard because I was single up to that point in my life, and she lived 1150 kms away. 23 years later, I now know that my purpose in this world is to give her the love and good life that she deserves.

Caen is located in Normandy. Caen was crucial to tha Allies on D Day, it was the essential road & hinge of resistance to the American & British Allies. Caen remains one of the largest medieval fortresses in Western Europe. The battle for Caen was so severe & vicious, it lasted just under 2 months, so brutal, 73% of the city was destroyed & it is estimated that 3000 local children, women & French civilians died in the onslaught. An estimated 2500 tons of bombs were dropped on the city. The Allies underestimated the German resistance. Of all the wreckage, the Abby (Cathedral) survived, and the hospital. The Abby became a refuge for the victims of war-torn Caen.
Well, the Allies were in a hurry to defeat Germany. And they made it easy for themselves. What they did around Caen is called a scorched earth war. The civilian casualties of these bombings were significantly higher. The Americans killed more civilians in the liberation of France than the Germans in the invasion and 4 years of occupation. But people don't like to talk about it because the French had to be grateful.
