Theo de Blic has been involved in the development of the MENTOR 7 and MENTOR 7 Light from the beginning. In this video he explains what is unique on this new Hybrid 2.5-Liner and how to get the best out of it. Actually, his statements are valid for both models - light and standard. Merci Theo.

Theo hat von Beginn an bei der Entwicklung des MENTOR 7 bzw. MENTOR 7 Light mitgearbeitet. In diesem Video erklärt er die Besonderheiten dieses neuen Hybrid 2,5-Leiners und wie man das Beste aus ihm herausholt. It looks to me like you have the brakes in hand while steering with the Cs. Is that right? are you using both at the same time? or is there enough slack in the brake lines that it doesnt effect the wing? or have I got it completely wrong?

you can see that the brakes remain "to the pulley" the whole time

Most pilots keep the brakes in their hands, but without pulling on them at all, while steering with the rear risers. It allows to quickly switch between brakes and rear risers.

the switch from 20 kg weight windows up to 25 kg is incomprehensible. I was flying all Nova`gliders at XS 70-90 kg with 85/86 kg. Now 70-95 kg, means, I am only at the middle of the range..hm..

Philipp Medicus with Nova stated on paragliding forum that the additional 5 kg should be treated as an extended weight range. The wing was apparently designed to fit within the 20kg weight range. They increased it to 25kg because it passed the tests with an additional 5kg. So you should be able to fly it just fine at the same weight. "Hi, exactly: It's a 5kg addition not a 5kg shift of the weight range. We actually intended to keep our standard weight ranges until almost the end of the development. But we found that the Mentor7 still climbs reasonably well with 5 extra kilos and some "beta testers" confirmed our impression. On strong XC-days it might make sense to make use of those additional 5kg to fly even faster. We wanted to at least give that option to pilots. So: If someone is flying the MENTOR 7 S with 95kg TOW, that's 10kg below the LEGAL maximum weight. BUT: Besides that legal aspect, it's the same as flying previous MENTORs in size S with 95kg! To some extend the maximum TOW can be simply chosen by the manufacturer. And like I said, we initially wanted to choose our "old" weight ranges, and that would have been a reasonable decision as well, but we wanted to give that extra option to the pilots. The wing obviously hasn't changed by our decision: So if some pilots would have been happier with a maximum TOW of 100kg, they actually can be just as happy with our choice of 105kg. Because the only thing that has changed, is a number in the certification test protocol. Smile Cheers, P.
