Exactly the same type of character as my own Father Reginald Waywell of Warrington with the same attitude about not selling his work and not wishing to make any money from his art. Because of this attitude the local Museum and Art Gallery refuses to show his work as they can't profit by it. What a great painter this guy was I love his art especially the rain scenes. My father also shared galleries with Lowry in Salford the only reason Lowry became famous was because of his willingness to be in the media and his willingness to sell his art. Like with Van Goth my Father at 90 has a hacked off ear which I find just adds to his greatness.
'He never painted a picture to sell'. Remember seeing this at the time, also remember he mentioned his late wife at one point and we saw one of her monochrome landscape line drawings which was superb. He's so much more involved in his work than Lowry, and a must better painter.
