I think my favorite scene in the movie is the red bathroom scene. There's something so eerie and intriguing about how clean the room is, white floors, and white ceiling accompanied by bright blood red walls and sinks. The unnaturally still characters, the dialogue, close camera shots, and especially the muffled ballroom music playing in the background, switching songs in the middle of the ghost changing demeanor and Jack going insane. I also don't think that scene fits in very well with the 2 Jacks theory because of how Jack mentions Danny and Wendy getting in the way of "things" (definitely fits a lot better with the abuse theory), but I suppose if Jack is writing a novel based on his own family, then he's intentionally making the character look bad to set up later events, which is the purpose of the scene in the movie, or he's projecting his own subconscious thoughts into the novel.
This is a great summary, thanks! I love hearing people's thoughts about the shining, even when I don't agree with them or think they are giving Kubrick too much credit. It's a film I love, and it gives me chills to hear people peel away its layers. ( For a good time, check out the film Room 237 )
Honestly the most relaxing horror movie I’ve ever seen. Also any girl that’s a horror cinephile is a skillet burner of mine. Keep up the good work doll!
Steven Kings books have mostly bested even some great films based on his work. The Shining was a masterpiece as you say Kubrick did a great job. If you had a different cast, maybe not. Shelly Duvall just passed away recently, and Nicholson made it special. I enjoy your videos
I usually hate horror, but I have seen this movie - enjoyed the theories on this one, I might even dig deeper, that's a sign of good art isn't it! Oddly enough the scariest part to me is when the wife looks through the manuscript he's been working on... Idk why but I remember my reaction was 'whaaat 😯'
You've helped me so much over the past few years, is there a way I can support your amazing work with money? Do you have a patreon or something like that? Love your work! ❤❤
Hi! There's a "thanks" button, between "remix" and "download". You can support her there. I myself have done it a few times, but I'm still in debt with her, because also she help me a lot with her work. Things are getting better and I'm keeping in mind to support her more often. I don't really know if she is fully aware of the immense effect of her voice, but I'm confident that this channel is going to be huge. Blessings.
Ohh thank u thats so nice of u, i havent really looked into patreon yet, i didnt know what i could offer extra ontop of the youtube stuff to make it worthwhile u know? But maybe its better than youtube? Idk! 💕💕
I’ve been to the hotel in Estes Park Colorado that inspired the shining. Didn’t have time to do a ghost tour, but had a drink at their bar and walked around a bit. Definitely has a creepy, but grand vibe to it. It’s a beautiful hotel. Would love to spend the night there.
